Subject: Monterey Delights-Part 1

Disclaimer- Don't read if you do not want to or will get into
trouble. Otherwise, have fun.

I looked at my watch as we rounded the curve. It was exactly
4:30 pm on that Friday afternoon as we arrived into Monterey. I
was looking forward to the move and seeing the house my Dad had
arranged for the family. We had been staying with friends after
moving from Long Beach and I was looking forward to having my
own room again. I was all of 11 and it was the end of fifth
grade. Easter was still a few weeks off and it was interesting
to see fog off towards the ocean and the hills towards Carmel,
but still be in the sun. I would come to love the sight of the
fog rolling over the hills and seemed to imagine it like a huge
tidal wave rushing to engulf us.

Well to introduce myself, my name is Charlie and I had already
been feeling strong feelings towards other boys for many years
and was comfortable with this part of myself. Girls were ok and
I could get along with them, but it was the look of a boy in his
shorts or underwear that really peaked my interest. I found
myself looking at the other boys butts and wondering what they
might look like under their cloths./ I was not totally possessed
with these feelings, but as a youth into puberty and a very
vivid imagination and fantasy life, I think I could be forgiven.

Well we rolled down past Camino El Estero and going up a short
climb, we arrived at the corner house that was to be my new
home. It was an off yellow house with two one bedroom apartments
over the parking area. We, that is my parents, my sister, and
myself, would occupy the main part of the building. Across the
street was a neighborhood store that I would work in and run to
get stuff as needed for dinner or a snack. Oakgrove was a nice
area to live, and being just 4 blocks from the ocean, it was
cool to be able to walk on down to the beach. You could hear the
barks of the sea lions at night and the amount of seagulls made
you wary as you walked when close to the water.

The time when we moved was 1980 and Monterey was a big change
from living in LA county, but still much bigger from my years
living back in Minnesota. I missed my friends and the great gang
I hung out with, but it was something I had to move past. Now I
would be on the coast, and I was itching to get all settled in
so I could explore the area. We unpacked that night, my family
and the friends we had stayed at and who were there to help us
get all out belongings together and in the right rooms.

My room was to be the back one, with one wall on the parking
area and the other with the bathroom. I liked it, not real big,
but a little private from the rest of the house and with a
shelves to put my books and accumulated Star Wars figures and
accessories. I had spent my own money to get my main part of the
collection. I was proud of it and I had no regrets. I was able
to spend hours creating adventures on the characters or new ones
as they popped into my head. I also in private set up some
sexual peccadilloes that I would not of gone over well with
Jerry Farwell and his thugs in the Moral Majority.

It took us two days to completely get everything out of the boxes
and put away, and I was happy to have a chance to get my bike
out and head off by myself. I got along with my sister, but for
my own peace of mind, I was glad to get away from her and
whining about the move. She missed her friends and had been
carrying on all morning. Pedaling down the hill to the main drag
along the beach, I made my way down to Fisherman's Wharf and
then past it to Cannery Row. At this time, there were still many
of the old buildings from the hey day of the 30's and 40's, and
the foundations of others were fun to use to explore the tide
pools.

It was a warm morning and I was fascinated to see all the
tourists boys in shorts and I ended up at the arcade that was in
Edgewater's. There was also a 1905 carousel that was kinda cool
to look at as well. I had some bucks to use for the games, and
eye to see what might happen as I perused the kids playing
pinball and the arcade games. I plugged in my quarters and had
some fun when I looked at this kid that caught my eye. He was
about my age, and even with his back turned, there was something
about him that held my attention.

He was shorter then me, about 4'8, and had dark brown hair worn
shoulder length. His shorts were tight against his tush and he
did not have much of a tan. Guessed he had not been out in the
sun in some time. He had a pretty skinny figure but he held it
together. I edged up closer and looked over his shoulder as he
played the game, I forget which one now. I was able to see as
the game ended and he turned that his eyes were brown and a
smirk that seemed to imply he had a side to his that might be
mischievous. I nodded to him and smiled, saying " Hi ".

He looked at me and if anything, his grin grew. " Howdy. I'm
Chris. "

" Charlie. Do you hang out here a lot? I'm new here and just
exploring. Maybe you can give me some pointers. So besides the
arcade here, are there any other spots to have fun? "

Chris motioned for me to follow him outside, as it was pretty
noisy from all the other games and the carousel. I went after
him, taking the time to see his briefs peeking from the
waistband of his shorts. I liked to see underwear and he seem to
have a cute butt. We leaned against the railing out the main
doors and with the lessening of the noise, we could talk better.

Chris pushed his hair from his eyes and told me of another
arcade up street as well as the roller skate rink. ( remember,
this is well before rollerblades folks ) There was also a great
park that was just over a bridge from where I lived. Dennis the
Menace Park. I was to find out it had helped been designed by
Hank Ketchum and were some cool playground stuff to climb on and
whirl about. Chris was fooling around while his mom worked and
had not been in town long himself. He had moved from Virginia
after the breakup of his mom and her Boyfriend and they had come
out here to stay with his Mom's best friend.

Chris and I got our bikes and rode Ocean View Blvd through
Pacific Grove and on down to Lover's Point. I could see sea
otters hanging about the kelp bed, seals laying on rocks with
the low tide, and sea lions going after the anchovies. Pelicans
and seagulls dove into the water or floated with the waves. Over
Monterey, you could see the steam stacks of the power plant at
Moss Landing or the other edge of the Bay at Santa Cruz. Quite a
difference from all the smog and oil islands down in Long Beach.
Chris's smile and friendly attitude was also a welcome pleasure.

That first day was to be the first step in my life in Monterey,
and delights I was to find there with Chris and others.

Ok folks, this is my first submission to a web site a story, and
I would appreciate any feedback or criticisms that you may have.
Like I said, I am not a great writer in any real shape of form,
but I have been reading stories for years and thought I would
give it a try. I have more to share if there is interest, both
with this story and others. Some are based on my own life and
others are all in my mind, working their way out if so
inclined. Praise me, flame me, or just tell me where I may
improve or screwed up. I am more then willing to reply and we
can see what the future holds. Email me at cezmail1@yahoo.com.

Thanks
