From Part 6:

On the bus ride home, Danny and I once again sat in the back of the
bus, me leaning against him. His arm was once again wrapped around my
shoulders as I fell into a daze on the ride back. I felt comfortable in
Danny's strong embrace, and wished I could climb into his lap and fall
asleep. But, I had to content myself with just pressing myself against
him.

It had been a bad day. Jarrod was once again on my case, and the
biker kid was preparing to spread the fact that I was gay and was with
Danny. Oh yeah, it had been a bad day, but I had a strong suspicion that
my life was going to get a lot worse in the coming weeks.

Part 7:

A week had passed wince that first, horrible day back to school.
Surprisingly, nothing had happened. Jarrod left me alone, which I'm almost
certain was Danny's doing, and my biker "friend," who's name I found out to
be Alex, hadn't said a word, or done anything, to let the rest of the
school know I was gay. I wasn't optimistic that the peace would last.

	"Kev?"

Danny was looking across the lunch table at me, his eyes fixed on
my face.

	"Huh?" I replied.

"You okay? You look a little lost," he smiled.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, "just thinking."

	"What about?"

"That prick, Alex. I wish he'd make his move already."

Danny looked around thoughtfully for a moment, then said, "Yeah,
It's be nice. But maybe we can beat him to the punch."

"What?" I looked at him dumbfounded. "You mean tell everyone the
we're gay?"

"Well, not everyone," he said, still scanning the crowds of
students around us, "more like a surgical strike. Tell key people, and
wait for the trickledown effects to take their course. Hopefully, none of
Alex's friends will tell him about the "rumor.""

"And were will that get us?"

"The moral high ground?" Danny said, looking at me, unnaturally
serious. "Kevin, think about it. Alex is holding the fact that we're
seeing one another over our heads. It's his only weapon. Sure, he'll have
his supporters when the fact come out. But, if we get there before he
does..."

Danny trailed off. I thought about it. True, I was nervous, well,
more like scared out of my mind, but still. Maybe by telling people now, we
could make him look stupid when he tried to share it. But there were
consequences to that course of action to.

"I dunno, Danny," I said, starring at my food, "there's so many
crap friendships in this school."

He looked at me with a puzzled look on his face, and I sighed.

"You know," I said, pointing at a couple of tables, "someone gets
in with a more popular kid, moves up the school food chain a little bit.
Alliances of advantage that only last a semester because one kid's smarter
than the other. Shit like that, you know?"

Danny nodded, looking at a table I'd pointed to. Alex was sitting
there, his back to us, and it was highly unlikely he knew we were there at
all. The group of kids he was sitting with was very different than
himself. They were big, beefy football players, while he was the slim
swimmer/runner type. His blond hair stood out among his brown and black
haired friends.

"Shit like that..." he repeated, talking to himself.

"All I want to know is why the hell that kid hasn't told anyone," I
said, annoyed. "It doesn't make sense. This is such a gay bashing town
that I thought he'd spring at the chance to put use in the spot light."

"Maybe he thinks he can blackmail us," Danny said, his voice calm.

"For what? What do we have that'd he want?"

"I dunno," Danny shrugged, "but he'd better not try anything like
that."

	"Yeah..."

I trailed off. Alex was semi-friends with Jarrod, my tormentor for
years. The duo scared me. One smart, devious ass hole plus one big, dumb
ass hole usually meant a lot of trouble.

	"Kev?"

"What, what'd I miss?" I said, snapping out of my thoughts.

"I was just saying that we have to be careful of that Jarrod kid
to," Danny said.

"I was just thinking that. Alex and him are...on friendly terms.
If Alex wants something he needs muscle to get, Jarrod's his go to guy. I
don't know what Jarrod gets in return for it."

"Well, that's just the sorta thing we need at the moment," Danny
said sarcastically. "This could get really bad, you know it?"

"Yeah," I smiled a him, "but then, what fun would life be without a
little risk?"

When Danny laughed, I laughed to. But I was still scared out of my
wits.

A couple minutes later, I was heading back to my third hour class
(lunch cut the class into a half hour first part, and an hour long second
part. Great for taking tests, if you could get notes out of the room
without getting caught, but otherwise, it made the class a drag). Alex
smirked as he sat nest to me, and I felt a slight shiver go down my spine.

"Okay class," the teacher said, "you're getting your long term
writing assignments today. We'll be going to the library shortly, and I
want you to use the time to find a couple subjects you may want to write
about."

There was the scraping of chairs as everyone got up and gathered
their stuff. As I was putting my books in my bag, I felt a hand slap me in
the shoulder.

"What're you gonna write about?" Alex asked as I looked up. His
voice was polite enough, but I couldn't help notice the sarcastic edge to
the question.

"I don't know," I replied, "maybe I'll do something on school
bullies."

If he noticed the sarcasm in my own voice, he hid it well.

"Funny, I thought you would do something a little more
controversial, like, say, homosexual stuff."

I looked around quickly to see if anyone else was listening to us.

"Why would you say that?" I asked, as calmly as possible.

"Oh, I dunno. It's just that I thought I saw you a couple weeks
ago making out with the new guy..." he replied, emphasizing guy..

"Really?" I asked, playing it off as no big deal. The facts that my
hands were shaking slightly didn't help any though.

"Yeah, I was riding back from my aunts house and thought I saw the
two of you making out."

I faked a laugh. Thankfully, we were alone in the hall at this
point.

	"Whatever," I shrugged my shoulders.

	"Well, did you?"

"Why the fuck do you wanna know? Gonna go out and try it
yourself?"

His face momentarily contorted into a look of hate, but he quickly
regained his composure.

"Sorry, I don't swing that way," he said, a hard edge to his voice.

"Well, that's good. Any guy you got with would be confuse as were
to put his cock, the ass hole on your ass or the ass hole on your head."

Did I mention we were alone at this point?

"You'd better watch yourself, Kevin," he sneered.

"Fuck off," I turned down another hall that would lead me around to
the other side of the library. It might take me longer, but I'd get away
from Alex, which was my goal for the moment.

"Get your fag ass back here," he shouted.

I spun around and faced him. "Or else what?" I asked as calmly as
I could manage, "you gonna punch me?"

He suddenly launched himself at me, his fist leading the way. I
stepped back in surprise, which put me just out of his swing range. I
raised my arm to block the backhand he sent after his failed first attempt,
then stuck my leg out. His momentum caused him to trip over my foot and
send him sprawling. Not bad for only getting a couple lessons from Danny.

"Look, Alex, I don't know what your problem is, but leave me alone.
Leave Danny alone. Neither of us want to be bothered by the likes of you."

I turned and walked away, glowing with pride that I'd stood up to
that ass hole. But there was a small pinprick of fear that was telling me
that what had just happened, it was going to accelerate Alex's plans.

I needed to talk to Danny, ASAP.

Ok guys, sorry it took so long to get this done. I meant to have it up
last week, but I ran into a mental road block, which is also why it`s so
short. And this past week I started school again, and this semester, I've
got a ton of English classes to worry about. It'll probably be some time
before I get the chance to write the next chapter, but I'll do my best to
keep the story going.
