Chapter 6

Once back in Denver Fred and Betty spent a lot of time teaching me the ins
and outs of Rainbow Enterprises and the different companies it owns. We
also had lots of meetings finalizing the purchasing of the four buildings
that will soon house the four district head quarters of Rainbow
Enterprises.

We got all of the Rainbow Inns transferred over into Wesley's name and
while we were busy with all of our meetings our security staff got their
offices set up and they settled into their apartments. By Friday of the
second week, Mike and Debra had their passports and Travis would arrive
tomorrow morning.

This morning was going to be busy for everyone because there were lots to
do before Travis arrived tomorrow. While Fred, Betty and I went into the
office, Julie, Wesley and Dobby went for a day of training and I got Sheila
to take Casey and Sarah grocery shopping so Travis could relax when he

would be the Chief Paramedic of our ambulance service here on the
mountain. I told her she would have total control of that department and

I asked Sheila if she would be in total charge of the plans for the
academies because of her educational background and I also asked her if she
would come up with the school's curriculum outlines for each grade. Then I
asked Tim Jackson if he would be one of the teachers and would he also work
with some of the guide dogs as well. He agreed to both then I moved on to
David Goodman.

I asked David to consider being the Executive Director of the guide dog
school and then I asked Julie Peterson to be Director of Training. I asked
them to think about it and let me know as soon as possible because more
family security guards would need to be hired. I ended my talk by reminding
them all that we would start work on Monday and if they had any Christmas
ideas or could help in any way to tell one of the children.

When I adjourned the meeting David, Tim, Susan, Debra and Julie walked up
to me and quickly accepted the new jobs that were offered to them. While we
stood there talking we all decided to spend the day getting familiar with
our new surroundings so we loaded up into three Hummers and took off.

As we drove around getting familiar with our little town we came across the
Rainbow Real Estate office and I got a great idea. I quickly pulled into
the parking lot and hurried inside where we met Miss Whitestone. After I
introduced everyone I asked her if there were any large tracks of land for
sale here on the mountain.

Miss Whitestone walked over to a file cabinet, located a file and laid it

She told me about two hundred acres that bordered my property, a track of

After we had a chance to see each property I smiled at Miss Whitestone and
told her I would take all six of them. She informed me that she would have
the paperwork all ready for me to sign on Monday morning. We all shook
hands with Miss Whitestone and she quickly headed back to her office to get
started on all the paperwork. As soon as Miss Whitestone left we continued
our look around our new community.

Next we stopped at the local police department so we could introduce Dobby
to all of the officers on duty. This way if there were any complaints about

While we were eating Travis told me he would get busy looking for more

When we got back to my house the kids decided they wanted to go swimming so

swim. Julie and Sheila decided to be lifeguards so they herded the kids off
toward the swimming pool while Betty, Fred and I got caught up on some
Rainbow Enterprise business.

After Betty told me that I owned rainbow Construction in Denver I quickly
called Shawn Williams and introduced myself. I asked him if he could come
over to my house to talk over some major projects I have in mind. He told
me he was finished for the day and he could come on over now. I told him to
bring his family so they could join us for our cookout.

I briefly filled him in on what I wanted to have built and then I gave him
directions to my house before hanging up the phone. Shawn and his family
were pulling into my driveway about twenty five minutes later.

Shawn introduced us to his beautiful wife Amanda and to his twenty four
year old son Adam. Then he told me his son and wife was both Architects and
could help draw up the blueprints for us.

After we shook hands we got down to business. I told them about the guide
dog school, the hospital, the three academies, about the family
recreational center and about the indoor shooting range and dojo I wanted
built on my property. Shawn was real excited and quickly told us he could
start on Monday. Fred and I took Shawn, Amanda and Adam on a fly over of
each property so they could get an idea how they were laid out. By the time
we got back Betty had the grill fired up ready to start cooking.

I cooked the hamburgers, hot dogs, stakes and baked potatoes on the grill
while Betty prepared the French fries in the deep fryer. About fifteen
minutes before everything would be ready I got Casey to call his dad to
tell him to join us. We all got to know Shawn Matthews better while we ate
and by the time everyone was finished eating Shawn, Amanda and Adam were
now part of our extended family.

We got a lot of things accomplished over the next several days. Wesley and
Dobby were declared a safe and independent guide dog team, Julie and Timmy
flew back to Florida to get things ready to move to Colorado, Shawn
Matthews broke ground on all of my new projects and Travis found us eleven
new security guards.

There were Andrew Barrett, Bobby Simmons, Tommy Blackman, Danny Murphy and
Max Whitestone. They would be assigned full time to guard Wesley and Adam
because of their youthful appearance. These young men may look young but
they were well qualified for the job.

He also hired four new lady security guards. There were Amy Jones, Cindy
Wilcox, Michelle Dawson and Amanda Woods. They were four beautiful ladies

He also hired two more men for mine and Fred's security team. They were
Manuel Lopez and Jack Johnson. Manuel and Jack are very qualified for the

As the Labor Day weekend quickly approached we all sat around the table

A few days before our Orlando trip Betty, Fred and I had to take care of
some business in Denver and on our way home we past a place that designed
and made customized golf carts. I got a crazy idea so I pulled into their
parking lot and went inside to ask some questions. As soon as I found out
he could make what I wanted I ordered each kid one for Christmas. I got
Wesley a Tennessee orange mustang, Adam a camouflage colored hummer and a
blue VW Bug for Timmy. I ordered Casey a candy apple red BMW, we picked out
a pink jeep for Sarah and I also got a black minivan. Once that was taken
care of we headed home.

The day before we were leaving for our Orlando trip Wesley and Adam came to
Fred and me to ask if they could stay with us tonight so they could help
get everything prepared for tomorrow. We told them they could and I called
their moms to clear it with them as well. Once that was taken care of Fred
and I finished up our packing for the trip.

Once everything was completely packed we took everyone's luggage into
Denver and loaded them onto the plane. By the time we got home all four of
us were extremely tired so we just decided to turn in for the night. As
tired as we were I didn't think there would be any sexual activity in

The following morning we were raring to go so we left the house at 5:30 AM,
got everyone loaded on the plane by six thirty and were on our way to
Florida by seven. When we landed in Orlando, Thomas met us at the airport

his mind and refused to go.

said, "Wesley, no one will bother you because to get to you they got to
come through me and these other guys first and that is not an easy job."
Wesley smiled and gave Max a big hug. When Max stood up we all saw him wipe
a tear away that was running down his cheek.

After swimming for a couple of hours we got out, dried off and headed
upstairs to get ready for dinner. Once we told everyone about the great
food and service at Joe's Crab Shack they all voted to go there to
eat. After enjoying some fantastic sea food we headed back to the hotel.

On the way back Wesley explained to his mom, Fred and I how he would like
the conference to go and what position he would like to offer Thomas. When
we all quickly agreed with his decision he let out a big sigh of relief.

As we were pulling into the hotel's parking lot we saw Thomas and his
family pulling in from the other side. When the introductions were
completed we all headed into the hotel.

There were Thomas's wife Nancy, their thirteen year old son Jacob, eleven
year old Katie and nine year old Tommy. I knew immediately that this family
would fit right in and play a big role in our lives.

Before going into the conference room I took Fred aside and whispered
something into his ear and when he smiled at me and nodded I had my
answer. While Fred entertained Thomas and his family for a couple of
minutes I took Wesley, Adam and their moms into the hallway for a quick
chat.

It was time they knew everything about me. I was totally honest with them

Wesley totally shocked me by running the meeting like a professional. He
laid out both proposals to Thomas, discussed the difference in the salaries
and told him about the five bedroom house on Rainbow Mountain that was
waiting on him if he chose the President's position. He also discussed with
Thomas what he would like to accomplish over the next ten years with the
Rainbow Inns. It didn't take long before Thomas spoke up and accepted the
President's position with the Rainbow Inns. Then Wesley asked Fred to help
him with his Board of Directors.

It was decided, that Wesley would sit on it as CEO, Thomas as President,
Fred as legal counsel, his mom Betty as Chairman, Max Whitestone for
security and last but not least Adam and I would also sit on the board as
well. When the meeting broke up everyone was extremely pleased with how it
went and as we started out the door I whispered to Wesley to ask Thomas if
he and his family would like to join us for a trip to Sea World tomorrow
and Universal Studios on Sunday. Thomas and his family accepted Wesley's
invitation and left to head home.

Bright and early the next morning there came a knock on our penthouse door
and when I opened it there stood Julie and Timmy with big grins on their
faces. I offered Julie some coffee and I fixed Timmy some hot chocolate as
we waited on the boys to wake up.

We sat there for about thirty minutes talking before a sleepy Wesley and
Adam came stumbling into the kitchen wearing nothing but their
underwear. They gave Fred and me hugs before they noticed we had
company. When Julie and Timmy began to giggle Adam and Wesley remembered
they weren't wearing anything but their underwear. They both turned about
three shades of red as they hurried back to their bedroom to put some
clothes on.

Travis and Casey were the last two up and as Travis was grabbing a cup of
coffee he noticed Julie and Timmy sitting there at the table with
us. Travis and Casey were in the process of greeting them both when Wesley
and Adam came back into the room fully dressed this time.

Julie offered to take Dobby downstairs to do his business and Travis
volunteered to go down with her. This gave the boys time to drink a cup of
hot chocolate and recover from their embarrassment. By the time Travis and
Julie came back upstairs with Dobby they informed us that Thomas and his
family were waiting on us in the lobby.

As we ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant I pared the kids up for
safety reasons. There were Casey with Jacob, Sarah with Katie, Adam with
Wesley and Tommy with Timmy and I asked them to stay with their partners no
matter what throughout the day. All the kids got along wonderfully together
and it looked like it was going to be an awesome day hopefully!
