vulgar in many ways. If it is illegal in your area to read this sort of

This is the first story I've written for nifty. I hope you like it, but
here's a general warning. This story is not the kind that's all about sex.
There will be no nine-year-old boys having anal sex with their six-inch
cocks. I'm keeping it real on here. This story is about a young boy who is
trying to find who he is in life and ends up finding out who he is in
strange, but new and exciting ways. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Skylar & Haley.

>From Chapter One of Skylar & Haley:

After his parents got home that night, they ate supper together, watched a
little TV, and then Skylar got ready to go to bed around nine o'clock. When
he was lying in bed, his mind was racing with thoughts about Haley, his
first time masturbating, and why he was attracted to a boy. With those
thoughts crowding his mind, it took him a long time to finally fall asleep,
but he finally managed to drift off by midnight.

Skylar
Chapter Two - There's Something About Haley

"All I'm saying is that we should try eating something for breakfast besides
toast, Mom," Skylar said as he sat at the breakfast table with his mom and
sister.

"Honey, you know I would love to give you kids a healthy and potentially
good breakfast for once, but I don't have time to cook. Your dad's the cook
in the family anyway," Mrs. Marshall told her son as he nibbled on the bland
buttered toast.

"Oh alright. Oh yeah, Haley asked me if I wanted to spend the weekend at his
house. So can I? Please, Pretty please with a cherry on top?" Skylar asked
trying to use his little boy voice.

"Well, I don't see any problem with it. You and dad and me are planning to
go out to your grandmother's house for the weekend. You know, the only place
you get a good breakfast at?" Mrs. Marshall said.

"Haley's mom make good breakfasts too though," Skylar said.

"Then I guess I can't stop ya. You gonna go over there after school Friday?"
she asked.

"I don't know yet. I'll find out from Haley today."

"Alright. Well, it's getting late. You better run on to school before you
get a tardy note," Mrs. Marshall warned him.

"I can't get to school unless the bus is at the bus stop anyway, Mom. You
know that right?" Skylar pointed out.

"Don't be a smart ass. Get your backpack and get out. Love ya."

"Love you too, Mom," Skylar said as he got up from the table.

Skylar grabbed his backpack from his room, said his goodbyes, and headed out
of the house towards the sidewalk. When he got to the sidewalk, he saw Haley
walking not too far ahead of his towards the bus stop. He began to run
towards him.

"Haley!!" Skylar called out to get the boy's attention.

Haley stopped and turned around to face Skylar as Skylar was running towards
him. Skylar looked at his comrade in a completely different light now. He
could not picture the boy as merely just his best friend anymore. He had
certain images of him now that he would probably never get out of his mind.
He still could not understand why he was attracted to his best friend, but
could not manage to feel the same way about girls.

When Skylar caught up to the boy, the two of them performed their cool
secret handshake, which involved spitting on their own hands and then
slapping them together and then shaking their hands together in different
ways. Skylar had always thought of their handshake as gross and childish,
but it had been known as their official best friend handshake since they
were in the first grade.

"What's up, dude?" Haley asked with a bright smile on his face.

"A lot actually. It worked," Skylar said with a lowered voice.

"You serious? That's great! It feels awesome, doesn't it?" Haley asked with
excitement in his voice.

"Oh my god. I've never felt anything like it before! It's definitely
something that I will never forget," Skylar said, adding, "in more way than
one," secretly to himself.

"Tell me about it. It made me think a lot about serious things after my
first time," Haley said.

"Like what do you mean serious?" Skylar asked hoping for something similar
to his experience.

"Oh, never mind. Hey, did you ask your mom if you could spend the weekend at
my house?" Haley asked trying to change the subject.

"Yeah. She said that would be fine," Skylar said, noting the sudden change
in topic and mood from Haley.

"Sweet. How do you wanna do it? You just wanna walk home with me right after
school Friday?"

"Affirmative, Private Summers," Skylar said using his chief military
commander voice.

"You know we stopped playing games like that a long time ago right?" Haley
said referring to Skylar's childish way of speaking.

"Blast it all, I thought we were still into that sort of crap."

"Not since the third grade as I recall," Haley reminded him.

The boys arrived at the bus stop just in time to see a fight arise between
several boys who were arguing about a girl. One of the boys punched the
other boy in the face and then kicked him in the stomach. The other boy
shrieked in pain and then knee-kicked his opponent in the groin causing him
to drop to the ground. The rest of the kids were cheering one of the boys,
but Haley and Skylar decided to remain towards the back and as far away from
the dispute as possible.

"Those guys are so ridiculous. They're just all balls and no brains," Haley
stated his personal opinion to Skylar.

"Well, that guy might not have so much balls anymore, what with being kicked
straight in the balls and all," Skylar pointed out.

"You know what I mean. Why would you fight over a girl? I mean, they make it
look like you have to go through pain-staking trials just to find a random
pretty girl or something when they're actually all over the place, you
know?" Haley explained.

"I guess I've never really thought too much about it," Skylar said honestly.

"Well, you're no help," Haley said.

"Sorry man. I just don't pay much attention to idiots like them most of the
time, you know?"

"Probably a good idea. So who do you think's gonna win this one?" Haley
asked.

"I'm not thinking anyone's gonna win this one. The bus is coming down the
street now," Skylar pointed out.

"Oh so Mr. Balthrop's gonna win," Haley said referring to the old bus
driver.

When the bus pulled next to the curb, Mr. Balthrop quickly jumped off the
bus to put a stop to the fight between the boys. They argued back and forth
with the bus driver and he told them to get on the bus without a word being
said the whole way to school. He made the boys sit in the two front seats
across from each other where he could keep an eye on each of them
individually through the large, rear-view mirror.

The rest of the kids boarded the school bus after the commotion was taken
care of. Haley and Skylar sat in their usual spot close to the back of the
bus and began conversing back and forth about different subjects that any
other normal preteen boys would talk about. When they arrived at the school,
the two of them said their goodbyes to one another and went their separate
ways.

Skylar headed to his homeroom and saw his good friend Ashley Newman standing
by the classroom door waiting for him. When she spotted Skylar, she ran to
him and gave him a hug. He hugged her back even though it was awkward for
him and then they headed inside their homeroom together.

"So what're you doing this weekend?" Ashley asked.

"I think I'm staying at Haley's house for the weekend."

"Ah man. I was hoping me and you could go to the movies together this
weekend or something," Ashley said.

"Well, if I wasn't going to Haley's, I'd definitely say yes to that," Skylar
lied, trying to be sensitive to his friend's feelings.

Skylar had always known that Ashley liked him, but he didn't like her that
way. He had thought about asking her out several times over the years so he
could say that he had a girlfriend, but he refrained from it realizing all
of the obligations that came with having a girlfriend.

The two of them sat down next to each other at the back of the classroom and
sat through homeroom period playing paper football with each other. When it
was finally over, Skylar said his goodbyes to Ashley and headed to his first
period class which he shared with Haley. Arriving at his science class, he
sat down in his normal spot. A few seconds later, Haley walked in and took a
seat in the desk next to Skylar's.

"God, could homeroom get any more boring?" Haley asked.

"Well, I've been playing paper football with Ashley since school began, so
probably not," Skylar said.

"Ashley still hitting on you a lot?" Haley asked.

"Like a hammer on a piece of plywood," Skylar remarked.

"Dude, why don't you just go out with her? She's pretty cute and she's also
very nice," Haley said.

"I don't know. I've thought about it several times, but I just don't think I
really want a girlfriend right now, you know? I just feel too young to be
devoting all my time to trying to make some girl happy by emptying my bank
account to the negatives," Skylar said.

"Talk about a stereotype and a half. You know, not all girls are like that,"
Haley said.

"Well, that's how I like to picture them. That way I can keep myself under
control," Skylar lied.

"Okay? Anyway, did you do the homework last night?" Haley asked.

"For what?" Skylar asked.

"For science, you goofball," Haley said.

"Ah crap. I forgot I had homework."

Haley rolled his eyes and laughed at his friend. Skylar stared at the boy
and thought about the images he had in his mind the night before. He had
never realized before how cute his best friend was. He had cute dimples when
he smiled, his two front teeth showed right below his upper lip slightly,
and he had the cutest button nose that he had ever seen. He smiled at the
boy and just stared at his face for an extended period of time, almost
phasing out of reality. Suddenly, he heard a snap in front of his face. He
snapped back into real life and noticed that Haley was actually trying to
get his attention.

"It's about time you stir a little. What the hell are thinking about?" Haley
asked curiously.

"Oh nothing. Just a little out of it today," Skylar said.

"Jeez Skylar. You look like you're high on something. You didn't get back
into the crack stash again, did ya?" Haley asked jokingly.

"Well, I tried to get over it, but I just couldn't. The addiction was too
strong for me," Skylar said.

The boys joked around with each other for next several minutes until the
teacher shut them up. They sat through the lesson until the bell rang and
then went through second, third, and fourth period waiting for lunch to
finally arrive.

After fourth period, Skylar met up with Haley and their other friends George
and Brock. The four of them grabbed their lunch bags and went to their usual
spot outside of the school up next to the brick wall of the auditorium that
was shaded well by large oak trees. None of the teachers or school staff
members ever knew that they would sneak out there for lunch, so they made it
their official lunch spot since there was a nice breeze coming from the
north most times and the sight of the large, blue, mole hill was right at
their grasp.

"So what're ya'll doing this weekend?" Brock asked curiously.

"We're having a sleepover at my house," Haley informed the boy.

"Who's 'we?' You sneakin' girls over to your house, Hal?" George joked.

"Nope. But close enough I guess. I'm having Skylar over at my house for the
weekend," Haley said.

"Hey! That was harsh," Skylar complained.

"Eh, don't worry. They already know your little secret," Haley added.

"Yeah, it's okay Skylar. We know how things like that go, but don't get
upset. We're here to help you," Brock said.

"Jackasses," Skylar said plainly as he threw a pebble at Brock's head.

After the boys finished out their quarrel, they ate their lunches and then
headed to their fifth period classes, which none of them looked forward to.
Skylar didn't mind his fifth period social studies class too much because he
shared it with Brock and they always sat next to one another. When the two
of them were in class, they talked to each other until the bell rang loudly.

Skylar's social studies teacher assigned an in-class two-person project that
was supposed to be due by the end of the period. He let the class choose
their own partners; so naturally, Skylar and Brock took each other as
partners. The two of them put their desks next to the other and began
working on the project.

"I don't get this," Skylar said.

"Ah c'mon, it's easy. All you have to do is just answer the questions, find
the words in the word search and then figure out the message at the bottom
with the results of the word search," Brock explained.

"Oh, is that all?" Skylar asked.

"Yeppers. Okay, try to answer this first one. Who was known as the 'father
of the Constitution?'" Brock asked already knowing the answer to the
question.

"Why're you asking me? I don't even really know what the Constitution is,"
Skylar said honestly.

"That's okay. Just take a guess," Brock said.

"Fine. Umm, I'll say Abraham Lincoln," Skylar said.

"Hmm, the Constitution was written a hundred years before Lincoln was
president, so think earlier," Brock said.

"Okay. Thomas Jefferson. Oh yeah, he wrote the Constitution, right!?" Skylar
asked sure that he was right.

"He wrote the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. The
founding fathers wrote the Constitution," Brock said.

"Then why does it need one father? Why couldn't the answer just be 'founding
fathers?'" Skylar asked curiously.

"Because one of the early presidents was known as the 'father of the
Constitution.' I don't really know why. That's just how it is," Brock said.

"Okay, I give. Who is it?" Skylar asked.

"James Madison," Brock said.

"Oh. Never would've gotten that in a million years. God Brock, you're so
freakin' smart. What do you do to be so smart?" Skylar asked.

"I study and do my work like no one else around here does," Brock said.

"Guess that would help, huh?" Skylar asked.

"Look Skylar, there's something I noticed today at lunch. And it concerns me
a little," Brock admitted.

"What is it?" Skylar asked hoping that it wasn't what he thought it was.

"I - I noticed you...staring at Haley today. In a different way than usual,"
Brock said trying not to upset the boy.

Skylar sat there silently not knowing what to say. He knew he had been
caught and that his friendship with Brock would forever be demolished. He
knew that Brock would spread the news around the whole school and eventually
lead to Skylar having to move to Mexico just to get away from the torture.

"Skylar, it's okay. I'm not gonna tell anybody," Brock assured him.

"Brock, it's not true. Haley's just a friend," Skylar said.

Brock just stared at him as if he could see right through him. Skylar knew
he should just come clean. What harm could it do if he already promised that
he would not tell anyone?

"Okay, okay. You're right. Last night, I realized that I have feelings for
Haley that I can't really explain. I mean, I never thought of myself as gay
or bisexual or whatever, but I'm not sure anymore," Skylar explained.

"What happened last night to make you realize it?" Brock asked.

"I leaned how to play with myself. Or squirm the worm or whatever," Skylar
said not knowing the technical term for the act.

"You mean masturbate?" Brock asked.

"Is that what that is? I've heard that word thrown around by the big kids
here, but I never knew what it was," Skylar said.

"Yeah, that's what it is. So what made you feel like you were attracted to
Haley?" Brock asked curiously.

"Because I couldn't think of anyone else that could...make me hard,"

"Oh. Well, then that's...oh," Brock said confusedly.

"Yeah. You think I'm a freak now, don't you," Skylar assumed.

"What? Skylar, you're like a good friend of mine. I wouldn't think that of
you. Actually, this doesn't come as much of a surprise to me and George,"

"Huh? George knows? How does George know?" Skylar asked.

"Dude, we've both known for a while now. We've suspected it for a long time.
We see how close the two of you are and we knew it would just be a matter of
time before one of you decided to admit your feelings for the other," Brock
said.

"I still don't get this. I didn't have any feelings at all for Haley until
just yesterday, so how the hell did you know about this before that?" Skylar
asked.

"Man, it's just so obvious with you two. The way ya'll talk to each other,
the way you guys look each other, the way you-" Brock was interrupted by
Skylar.

"The way we look at each other? You mean he looks at me the way I looked at
him today?" Skylar asked in a shocking tone of voice.

"Hell yeah, man! He's been doing it way longer than you have, in fact,"

"You're kidding," Skylar said.

"Oh no! Skylar, Haley's had a thing for you ever since that time in the
woods last year," Brock said.

"I'm confused. How did you know all of this? Especially before I did? I
mean, something here just don't add up right," Skylar said.

"I've had conversations with Haley before. He never said he had a thing for
you in so many words, but it's bloody obvious that he does," Brock said.

"This is so weird. I never in a million years imagined that I'd be trying to
get information on my best friend about whether he likes me in a gay way or
not. This is almost too much to take in," Skylar said. "Oh my god, I'm gay,"

"Well, calm down. You don't wanna come out of the closet in social studies,
fairy boy. Just wait it out and see how it goes first. You're staying at
Haley's house this weekend, right?" Brock asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"While you're there, look for signs that say whether he likes you like that
or not. Just don't get caught in case it's not really what we think it is,"

"Sounds like a plan. I can't believe this. This is all so weird to me,"

"I know. Well, just look for any kind of signals. There's something about
Haley that just indicates some kind of genuine affection for you. I'm just
not sure what kind yet," Brock said.

"So, don't blow it while looking for signals. Got it," Skylar said.

With those thoughts on his mind, Skylar began to think about how he was
going to look for signals from Haley that indicated that he liked Skylar the
same way that he liked Haley. It just seemed all too fast and too good to be
true, but he was going to try anyway to find out what chance he had to be
with his best friend in a different way. Skylar found it all too
overwhelming that he was actually doing this, but he was excited as well.

After fifth period ended, Skylar packed his stuff and headed to his final
period of the day, which was another period that he shared with Haley. He
figured this class was a good way to look for signals that Haley liked him.
He knew that if any aspect of school would actually push thoughts like
Skylar's into full drive, this would be the one. He walked down the halls
and headed down to the place that would help determine what Haley really
thought of Skylar. When he arrived, he looked around and spotted Haley
sitting in their usual spot in the gym waiting for their gym coach to walk
in and tell them to change out for PE.

End of Chapter Two

Okay, I know this was a cliffhanger, but I thought it would add more effect
to the story to do it that way. Well, I hope you enjoyed chapter two of
Skylar. The third chapter will most definitely contribute to the changes
that Skylar goes through during his preteen years. By the way, if you have
comments or criticisms, you're more than welcome to email me, but just so
we're clear, I don't have time to respond to emails because I'm busy either
writing the story or living life, you know. Anyway, hope you liked this
chapter and that you'll read on.
