"You had better come home with me after dinner then and we'll ask him
together."

Bill turned on a couple of table lamps and gently shook the boys. They
woke, saw the company and blushed.

Bill laughed, "Really, I would never have guessed."

Must be a day for silly statements he thought.

"No problem son, Janet is here to ask you a question."

"Hello Chris. Bill asked me to marry him tonight, but I told him I would
only do that if you approved."

Shock registered at first and then joy.

"Oh yes please. Are you really going to be my Mum?"

"Only if you want me to. You realise it will mean you having to share your
Dad with me?"

"I guess that will be ok, because Dad has to share me with Lee now as
well."

He looked pointedly at Bill to see if he understood.

"I know, and I bet half the neighbourhood does as well."

That was too much, Chris went almost purple with embarrassment, knowing
where his dad was coming from. No problem. Bill gathered his son into his
arms and whispered. "I know it happened, and you must know I couldn't be
happier. I love you so much."

Two months later Bill and Janet married at the local church. Chris was
Bill's best man and Lee was the senior usher. To Bill's surprise, the maid
of honour was the judge that had given him Chris.

"Janet honoured me with this invitation, allowing me to see the final
chapter in the completion of this family."
