The Foundling
Chapter 17: Going for the Gold

Avery and I said a hasty goodbye to our families and climbed aboard the
helicopter. Mrs. Spencer was reluctant to let her son go but after
promising to be careful, she relented. If you ask me, his smile works on
her just as much as me, I can't say no to him either. There wasn't enough
room for all of us on the helicopter so my family loaded into the car and
said they would meet us there. I'd never been in a helicopter before and
I'm something of a reluctant flyer, but I wasn't scared as we skimmed over
the treetops.

Avery started talking but I couldn't hear him, that's when we discovered
the headsets, put them on and spoke over the onboard intercom.

"This is nuts," smiled Avery, he was having a great time.

"Yeah, what a day," I said, giving his good hand a squeeze.

"I'm glad you're not leaving Benji, I don't know what I'd do without you,"
said Avery.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere, we've got all the time in the world now," I
smiled back.

"Good, we haven't even moved past blow jobs yet," Avery laughed.

"You're such a dork," I giggled, then leaned in for a little kiss.

"Uh, Mr. Tyson, we're about 20 minutes from Concord, I need to know where
we're landing," said the pilot, over the intercom.

Avery and I both turned a deep shade of red. We didn't realize that the
pilot would be able to hear everything we said. We just shrugged our
shoulders.

"Don't worry, if he says anything, he's fired," I winked, this time
covering my microphone

"Uh, we're looking for Josiah Bartlett High School," I told the pilot, "I'm
not sure what the address is though."

"No problem sir, we'll get the coordinates from air traffic control."

The pilot got the information he needed and in a matter of minutes, we were
setting down on the athletic field at Bartlett High.

"Sir, I'm not technically allowed to land here, so I can't stay, do you
have transport back to Tyson's Corner or should I head for the local
airfield?" asked the pilot.

"My family is driving down, we'll either ride back with them or on the bus
with our teammates," I explained.

"Roger that sir," said the pilot, "if you ever need us again, just give us
a ring."

Avery and I climbed out of the helicopter and though the rotor was at least
6 feet higher than our heads, we ducked as people do, and walked towards
the gym. The helicopter took off, the rotor putting out so much thrust
that we were almost blown over. Avery checked his watch, I had 10 minutes
to get to the pool or I'd be disqualified from the competition, we took off
at a brisk jog.

"Avery, Benji, what are you doing here?" asked a surprised Coach Spencer,
when I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Your wife is the best lawyer ever, we won, she had it all wrapped up by
lunchtime," I smiled.

"Yeah but how did you get here?" asked Coach Spencer.

"I'll tell you later dad, Benji has less than 5 minutes before he has to
dive," said Avery.

"Right, change your clothes and I'll let the officials know you made it
here," said Coach.

"Uh, wait, there's a problem, I didn't expect to be here, I don't have my
gym bag, I don't have my suit," I explained.

"Ok, no problem, let me see," said Coach, looking over the team, "Jasper,
you swam your last event right?"

"Yeah coach," said Jasper Henderson.

"Great, you're Tyson's size, go to the locker room, give him your Speedo,"
said Coach.

Jasper gave me a funny look, then shrugged his shoulders and followed me to
the locker room. Jasper was only wearing his Speedo but I think I changed
faster than he did; I practically tore my suit off. When I was naked, he
handed me his suit and I slipped into the unfamiliar garment, while he put
on his street clothes.

"Sorry, I don't have time to wait, thanks for the loan, Jas," I stated, and
ran out.

"It's cool, good luck," Jasper shouted behind me.

"Holy shit, you're here," Robbie explained, when I ran up to him.

"Yeah, long story," I stated, "how are we doing?"

"Not bad actually," said Robbie, "We've only done one dive each, so far,
but I think everyone brought his A game."

"Scores?" I asked.

"I got an 8.0 on my first, Camden got a 6.5, Dexter a 7.0 and Neil just
landed a 7.0, I guess you're up next," said Robbie.

A few seconds after the words left Robbie's mouth, my name was called over
the loudspeaker.

"Diving next, from John Adams High School, Benji Tyson," said the
announcer.

"You made it," Neil exclaimed, rejoining us after having completed his
dive.

"Yeah, tell you about it later, I gotta hit the board," I stated, and
headed for the end of the pool.

"Awesome, we're going to win," said Neil.

I'm not going to waste a lot of time explaining the rules of diving. It's
a complex sport, I do it, and I'm still not 100% sure how it's all
calculated. The short version is each diver does a series of mandatory and
optional dives. The mandatory dives are selected by the judges, each diver
does the same dive and points are awarded on technical skill, the optional
dives give us an opportunity to show off some of our tricks. After each
dive, the five judges give you their score, the highest and lowest score
are dropped, and the remaining three are averaged together then multiplied
by the degree of difficulty, for your overall score. It makes my head spin
just thinking about it so I try to focus on the dive ahead of me, rather
than the points to be allotted.

My first dive was a simple one and a half summersault tuck. I climbed up
to the diving board, bounced 3 times and shot out over the water. I pulled
out of the dive and entered the water headfirst with minimal splash. When
I came out of the water, I watched the judges, I ended up scoring an 8.5.
By the end of the mandatory dive portion of the tournament, Bartlett High
was leading with an overall score of 122, we were in second place with 118
and the other three schools came in a distant third, fourth and fifth.

We moved on to the optional dives and each of us pushed the envelope to do
the best dive he could. At the end of the optional dives, we were still in
second place, separated from the leaders by just eight points. My score
would eat some of that up, but in order for us to win; I had to score at
least a 9.0, which would give us a one point victory. I was deep in
thought, in order to win, I had to do something spectacular, I just didn't
know what.

"What are you going to do?" asked Robbie.

"I don't know, I'm thinking, I'm thinking," I stated, nervously.

"What about that handstand dive?" asked Camden.

"I don't know, the guy from Bartlett did one and he was great but he only
got an 8.0," I stated.

"Nothing wrong with an 8.0, worst case we take the silver medal," said
Dexter.

"No, there's nothing wrong with second place, but we didn't come this close
to lose," I replied, "I think I have an idea."

The problem with diving is that you only have so much time and distance
between the platform and the water. It makes elaborate dives extremely
difficult because time and space are not on your side and you have to enter
the water either head or feet first, flub the landing and you might as well
not have even bothered. One of the most difficult dives in the world is
the 2 ½ twist, 2 ½ summersault pike. There are a lot of parts to the
dive, you only have about 1.5 seconds to complete it and you enter the
water at 40 miles an hour so getting the entry right is crucial. I haven't
mastered this dive yet but it was time to go for broke.

I climbed to the top of the platform nervously. I looked out over the
crowd and spotted my family, they were sitting with Avery. I scanned their
faces but even their reassuring smiles couldn't calm my nerves. Finally I
reached the edge of the platform, turned my back on the pool, and stood on
the tips of my toes. I closed my eyes, raised my arms, then took the
plunge.

I swung my arms out and arched my back, leading into the first rotation. I
thrust my right arm out and behind my head then pulled my left arm across
my chest, to create the clockwise rotation and keep my body straight.
After completing the 2 ½ twists, I bent forward at the hips and placed
my hands behind my knees, keeping my legs straight and toes pointed,
entering the pike position. I completed the summersaults in the pike
position then straightened my body out, hands forward to punch a hole in
the water and rip the entry. I could tell it wasn't perfect the instant I
hit the water, I just hoped it would be enough to score the points we
needed for a victory.

When I broke the surface, I was greeted by thundering applause. I'd
impressed the crowd but it was the judges that mattered, I swam to the edge
of the pool and waited for their verdict. I watched the judges deliberate,
and held my breath while the final score was tabulated. When the numbers
9.5 flashed across the scoreboard, our bench erupted in shouts and
applause. With a mere 1.5 point lead, we, the John Adams Dive Team, from
tiny Tyson's Corner New Hampshire, took the state title.

"Dude, that was incredible," shouted Robbie, as I joined my teammates. He
hugged me but then got pushed aside by Dexter, Camden and Neil.

"I can't believe it, we're state champs," said Neil.

"Yeah Tyson, we owe it all to you," said Camden.

"Bullshit guys, we did this together," I stated, still trying to catch my
breath from the dive and the excitement that had followed.

There were still a couple of swimming events left so we divers took our
places on the bench with the rest of our team. I kept looking over at
Avery who flashed me a big smile and a thumbs up. I watched him and
couldn't help but think my victory was a hollow one. As proud as I was,
this should have been Avery's day, I struggled and came from behind to win,
Avery had been the star all season. When all of the events were finished,
I stood on the platform as the first lady of New Hampshire put the gold
medal around my neck.

I held the medal in my hands, I looked at it with pride, but as the first
lady moved to the next competitor, I knew what I had to do. Avery had
moved from the stands to the bench, for the awards ceremony, he wanted to
be with the team, the team he'd led all season. I spotted him sitting with
his dad, a hush falling over our teammates as I stunned them by leaving the
platform.

"Benji, what are you doing, you're not supposed to come down yet," said
Avery, as I stood before him.

I felt the medal around my neck, I took it in my fingers, then I pulled it
off.

"This should be yours, you earned it," I said, as I placed my medal around
Avery's neck.

"Benji, I can't accept this," said Avery, his voice on the verge of
breaking.

"Yes you can, you led me here, I couldn't have done this without you, I
want you to have it," I replied.

"Thank you," said Avery, a tear in his eye.

I put my arms around him and hugged him as tightly as I dared with his
broken ribs. I didn't care who was watching, I loved him and I wanted to
share this moment with him. Whether they knew we were gay or assumed it
was just one athlete hugging another, I don't know, but the crowd gave us a
warm round of applause.

When all was said and done, Avery and I rode the bus home with our team.
Everyone was excited; after all, we were the state champions. The
atmosphere on the bus was like a party, after a while, Coach Spencer gave
up on trying to calm us down and just joined in the fun. By the time I got
home, I was exhausted. It had been an amazing day, the dark cloud that the
Blair's had put over me was gone, Tyson's Corner was my home now and it
would continue to be as long as I wanted. George and Nancy weren't just
the Prescott's anymore; they were officially my parents, Dylan and Jamie,
my brothers. My victory in Concord that day was simply the icing on the
cake. I counted my blessings, closed my eyes and enjoyed the most restful
sleep I'd ever known.

The next night, I slept over at Avery's. He really shouldn't have been out
of bed yesterday, it exhausted him, but I was so pleased when I got to his
house and found my medal still around his neck.

"I don't think he even took it off to shower," smiled Marsha, when I'd made
the discovery.

"Good, it looks good on him," I smiled.

When Avery and I went to his room for bed, I helped him undress and then
climbed into bed next to him, careful not to bump his broken collar bone.
I was nervous about touching him but Avery guided my hand to a safe spot on
his tummy and I held him tight. I can't express how cute he looked in his
undies with my gold medal around his neck.

"I love you," I whispered in his ear.

"I love you more," he smiled.

"I don't know if that's possible."

"I was so scared I was going to lose you Benji," Avery admitted.

"It's ok, I'm not going anywhere," I replied.

"I know, I've got all kinds of things planned for us this summer," said
Avery.

"Oh yeah, like what?" I asked.

"You'll just have to wait and see, but this can be a pretty fun place to
live in the summertime," Avery explained.

"I think I know of something fun we can try now," I stated.

"Hmmm, what did you have in mind?" he asked.

"I think it might be time for us to take another step," I smiled.

"Ok, what kind of step?" asked Avery.

I could have just told him but where would the fun have been in that?
Instead, I kissed his sweet lips, ran my fingers over his bruised and
battered face, kissed each wound as tenderly as I dared. I kissed my way
down his body, taking it slow and easy. I reached his belly button and let
my tongue swirl around it then plunge inside. That made Avery giggle but I
wasn't about to stop. I kissed lower, felt my lips come into contact with
the waistband of his briefs, then I hooked my thumbs in them and pulled
them off of his body.

"I like this step," said Avery, as he wagged his boner at me.

"Ha, if only you knew what was in store for you," I smiled wickedly.

I bent forward and gave Avery's dick a lick. I kissed the cute pink head
and then took it in my mouth, letting my tongue tickle the tiny cum hole.

"I do love that," Avery purred.

I sucked his dick slowly, I wanted him to luxuriate in the sensation as I
bobbed my head up and down on the sensitive organ. I loved having his
boner in my mouth, there was something so intimate about sucking on him, it
was like he belonged in my mouth and I existed to pleasure him. I knew he
was enjoying it too, he reached down and gently stroked my hair while I
worked on him. When he was nice and wet, I pulled off and sat up.

"Aww, babe, why did you stop, that felt so good," Avery whined.

I smiled down at him, then gently straddled his body, I rested my bottom
over his dick and felt the slick head touch my hole, almost like it was
kissing it.

"Whoa, Benji, what are you doing?" asked Avery.

"I think you know," I moaned, as I eased down and felt his head pop into
me.

"Oh my God," Avery moaned, "Oh Benji, that feels incredible."

"Yeah, it feels good," I winced.

Truth be known, it sorta hurt. I'd never had so much as a finger up there
before but now I was trying to take Avery's entire five inches. I was
prepared for this though, I'm 14 and let's just say, I've read the
literature. I knew it would hurt at first but I also trusted that once I
got accustomed to the invasion, it would feel fantastic. I eased myself
down on my lover, taking him just a centimeter at a time, moaning as I
went.

"Benji, are you ok, you don't have to do this," said Avery.

"I'm ok, and I want to do this, do you like it?"

"It feels so good, but I don't want to hurt you," said Avery.

"Just lie back and enjoy it, I'll be ok."

It took time but eventually I felt my butt resting against Avery's pelvis.
I rested for a moment but the more I stretched to accommodate him, the more
I felt this strange, pleasurable tickling in my bottom. I started to rock
my hips back and forth, we both moaned in pleasure as Avery's head came
into contact with something deep in my body, something that sent exquisite
chills surging through me. I started to ride my lover, using my legs to
push me up and down on his pole. Avery reached down and stroked my cock
and when I felt him fill my bottom with liquid hot boy juice, I came all
over his belly. I disengaged myself from him, then cuddled up beside him.

"Wow," sighed Avery.

"Yeah," I agreed.

Avery leaned down and kissed my forehead, I knew he loved me, he didn't
have to say it with words.

That was the first time Avery and I made love but it would be far from the
last. Everything we did seemed to draw us closer together. I love him, I
know he loves me and that's made all the difference in the world. Losing
my dad was the biggest blow I've ever faced, I didn't know if I could ever
open my heart to someone again because it would hurt too much to lose them.
Avery was patient and tender, he didn't break down the barriers to my
heart, he slowly melted them away. Once the flood gates were open, it was
impossible to turn them back.

I've got a new family now, different than the one I started with but I love
them just the same. George and Nancy, mom and dad, are officially my
parents now and I think the choice I made, to stay with them, was the best
decision I have ever made. I grew up an only child and having brothers and
sisters has taken a little getting used to, but that to has been an
adventure. Jamie and Dylan couldn't be more different but each is special
in his own way. With Jamie you get unconditional love, with Dylan, it
takes him a little longer to warm up but once he does, you have a fierce
friend. Then there is Rachel, we haven't had a lot of time together but it
looks like I'll have all the time in the world to build that relationship
now.

Life is funny sometimes, you think you're happy but then a tragedy hits and
your life is turned upside down. You can let yourself feel miserable about
it but if you let it, life also has a way of working out. If you sit back
and let things run their course, you might find everything you never knew
you always wanted, sitting right in front of you. All my life I've heard
"God works in mysterious ways," and you know, I'm starting to believe it.
