The Keys to the Kingdom

Chapter 18: A Parent's Nightmare

There is no better place than New England in the fall. As September turned
into October, the academy was bathed in a sea of red and yellow leaves.
The entirety of nature's pallet was spread out before us, the air smelled
like fresh cider and the chill in the night's air hinted at the winter to
come.

As for the family, we said goodbye to October and greeted November, fully
ensconced in our routine. Aside from a few business trips I'd made, my
routine was what you'd expect for a headmaster, meeting with parents,
dealing with the occasional discipline problem, attending sporting events
and recitals. It was entirely mundane and I loved every minute of it. The
boys were thriving; they were actually excited about school and learning,
music to a teacher's ears. Most days we dined with the students at dinner
but most mornings, we ate at home, enjoying the time as a family.

"So what's on everyone's agenda for the day?" I asked, as Jack passed me
the butter.

"The usual," said Nicky.

"Aiden and I have a Latin test, then cross country practice this
afternoon," said Ethan.

"I've got a project for physics to work on this afternoon," said Jack.

"I'm taking Aiden to work with me this morning, Mrs. Pennybaker is going to
pick him up and bring him back for afternoon classes," said Cam.

"Another doctor's appointment?" I asked.

When your child has HIV, you tend to lose track of how many doctor's
appointments you've been to.

"Yes, this will be the first blood test he's had since his diagnosis, we
want to check his white count, see how he's reacting to the inhibitors,"
Cam explained.

I was watching Aiden while Cam spoke, his head was down and he seemed to be
pushing his food around with his fork, rather than eating.

Later, as everyone was setting out for the day, I pulled Aiden aside.

"Is something wrong, you seem a little down this morning," I stated.

"Just another doctor's appointment," said Aiden.

"I know its rough kiddo, but it's a necessary evil," I sympathized.

"Yeah, but each appointment is a reminder that there's something wrong with
me," he sighed.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with you," I smiled.

"Daddy..." he began.

"I know, it's hard for you but you'll be in and out of there and you'll be
back with your classmates in a few hours. By the time you go running you
won't even be thinking about it," I said encouragingly.

"Yeah, that's true," Aiden agreed.

"You're so brave; you just hang in there, ok?" I said, as I hugged him
tight.

As I held him, Zoe walked over and licked his hand.

"See, Zoe thinks you're brave to," I smiled.

Aiden finally gave me a smile, patted his dog on the head and then went out
to the car. Cam was only a few steps behind him; he kissed me on the cheek
then headed out the door. And so began another day at Bartlett Academy.

The day seemed to go exactly as planned, the boys attended classes, I sat
in my office meeting with the head of the English Department and in New
Haven, Aiden had his blood drawn for the first time since learning of his
HIV. Once the blood was drawn and sent to the lab, Mrs. Pennybaker picked
him up and returned him to the academy, just in time for lunch.

Our football team had done rather poorly this season and as a result, Jack
took more interest in the other new endeavor he'd undertaken, namely, being
fucked. The twins were still at cross country practice when Jack and Nicky
got home that afternoon, so they decided to make the most of their time
alone. As soon as Nicky walked in the door, he and Jack headed up to Jacks
room; it was almost an unwritten rule that if they were home alone, someone
was getting laid.

As soon as the door closed, they started shedding clothes. Nicky stripped
down to his white Hanes briefs and Jack stripped down to his black CK
boxerbriefs. Sometimes Jack left his school tie on, but only because Ethan
liked to use it as a leash when he dominated the older boy. Once the loose
clothing had been cast aside, Jack lay on his back and made out with Nicky
while Nicky ground his crotch against him. In the time he's been with us,
Jack has gone from occasional cock sucker to fully engrossed in gay sex.
Though he still considers himself straight, he loves fucking, or even
better, being fucked by his cousins.

Nicky humped his body against Jacks until both of their boners were
stretching out their tight underpants. Nicky moved down between Jacks legs
and nibbled on the head of his cock through his boxerbriefs. Jack loved
that sensation and Nicky loved doing it, he was able to suck Jack's precum
through the thin cotton and the salty flavor was part of what he loved
about sucking the big dick before him. When Jack had enough of the sensual
nibbling, he fished his dick out of his undies and rubbed the head against
Nicky's lips. Nicky let Jack coat his lips with a slick of precum, then he
engulfed the 8 inch boner, sucking it about halfway down, before coming
back up.

Nicky's pretty blond head bobbed up and down on his cousin and soon Jack
also got a craving. He used to suck cock in order to get his sucked, but
now Jack was much more into it. He moved Nicky into a 69 position, pulled
the boy's underpants off then sucked his cute little boner while massaging
his tight little ass. Jack then slipped his tongue into Nicky's hole and
ate him out with long, leisurely strokes of his tongue. Nicky could only
hold out so long so when he started to feel a tingling in his balls, he
pulled off of Jack and slipped between his legs. He rubbed his 4 inches
against Jacks hole and Jack slipped his hands behind his head, resting
while Nicky began to fuck him.

Nicky power fucked him, going at his ass like a jackrabbit. Jack was
grateful that Nicky wasn't much bigger because he was taking a pounding.
Nicky shot his first load into Jack but recovered quickly, the benefit of
being 12 and nearly always horny. He straddled Jack and lowered his
athletic body down onto this throbbing cock. Jack felt himself splitting
the boy open but didn't say anything, Nicky knew what he was doing and knew
how much he could take. This time, he managed to get 6 inches up his butt
before the pain became too great.

When he'd adjusted to the sensation, Nicky began to rock his hips back and
forth, fucking himself on Jack's cock. He played with his own dick and
moaned loudly while he pleasured himself.

"Oh, fuck yeah," moaned Jack.

"MMMMMM," Nicky purred.

"Suck your thumb for me, Nicky," Jack instructed.

"Huh?" asked Nicky.

"Suck your thumb while you're jerking and ridding me, I saw this chick do
it in a porno, it was so hot," said Jack.

Nicky didn't get it but he was eager to please so he made a little fist and
sucked on his thumb while he rode Jack and played with his own dick. Jack
was incredibly turned on by the sight of the cute boy and grabbed him by
the hips. Both boys began to work their hips, Nicky rocking his back and
forth, Jack thrusting his up and down. Nicky could feel Jack throbbing
inside of him, he knew he was close, so he reached down and tweaked Jacks
nipples, sending him over the edge. Jack bucked like a young bull when he
came, Nicky had to steady himself for the ride but he loved the sensation
of all that hot cum filling his tight orifice, and began his second
ejaculation of the afternoon.

"Fuck," Jack panted, "If you were a girl, I'd marry you."

"Ha, that's so gay," laughed Nicky.

Jack laughed then kissed the younger boy. He'd grown close to Nicky since
moving in and he enjoyed the time they spent together afterwards, cuddling
and making out. Nicky was pretty for a boy, with his short blond hair,
blue eyes and burgeoning jock body, Jack couldn't help but feel turned on
by him. He knew he was straight but he also couldn't deny that he loved
the things he was doing with his cousin.

On the other side of campus, Ethan and Aiden were running on a trail that
surrounds the academy, taking in most of the campus and part of the woods
and town. They were running with the cross country team but they were
spread out along the trail, at the moment, the twins found themselves
alone.

"How did your appointment go this morning?" asked Ethan.

"Don't want to talk about it," said Aiden, keeping his eyes on the trail.

"But you were so bummed this morning," said Ethan.

"That's why I don't want to talk about it," Aiden explained.

"Yeah but if you talked about it maybe you'd feel better," Ethan argued.

"Look Ethan, I love you and I know you want to help but it's not the kind
of problem I can talk out," said Aiden.

"Well, I obviously can't make you talk about it but I'm here if you change
your mind," said Ethan.

"Thanks, that means a lot to me," said Aiden, bringing a smile to Ethan's
face.

The boys continued to chat, they were running at a slow pace, as distance
runners do, and weren't even panting for breath yet. They took in the
scenery as they ran but hadn't paid any attention to the van that was
pacing them. They didn't notice the side door of the vehicle was open
until a man jumped out and by then it was too late. Aiden stopped in his
tracks when he came face to face with Terry Peterson.

"Hey, who the hell are..." Ethan began.

He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence; Terry grabbed Aiden and
threw him into the back of the van. Ethan reacted at once, he pounced on
Peterson's back, but he wasn't fighting back. The fact of the matter was
that Peterson didn't know which boy was Aiden and had resolved to take them
both, when Ethan jumped on his back, Peterson simply climbed into the van,
taking the boy with him. The vehicle sped away just as one of their
teammates was catching up. Tyler Garrison saw the whole thing and though
he was shocked, he managed to get a description of the van and the first
three digits of the license plate, before turning on his heal and running
flat out for my office.

"What the fuck did you grab them both for?" shouted Michelle Peterson from
the driver's seat.

"I didn't know which was which," Terry explained.

"Damn it, did anyone see you?" asked Michelle.

"Nah, it's just woods out there and I didn't see anyone else," said Terry.

"Who the hell are you people?" Ethan demanded.

"Ethan, it's them," whispered Aiden.

They were only a couple of miles from the academy when the Peterson's
bickering got the better of them. They were trying to figure out what they
were going to do with Ethan, they hadn't planned on taking both boys, and
Michelle's lead foot drew the attention of a state trooper.

"Oh fuck, oh fuck, what are we going to do?" said Michelle nervously, when
the troopers lights and siren came on.

"Pull over," he stated, then looked at the boys, "Either of you says a word
and you're dead, got it?"

The boys didn't say a word, they nodded their agreement.

"Is there a problem officer?" asked Michelle, almost on the verge of panic.

Something isn't right here, thought Officer Diaz. The woman driving the
van seemed entirely to agitated over a potential speeding ticket, the man
in the passenger seat was fidgeting nervously, and then he spotted the
boys. The two dark haired boys were huddled together and though it was
late fall and the weather was turning cold, he couldn't figure out why they
would be trembling. It was then that Ethan made eye contact with Officer
Diaz and mouthed the words, "help us."

"Ok folks, I'm going to need you to step out of the vehicle, real slow,"
said Officer Diaz, his hand resting on his gun.

Terry pulled the pistol from his belt and shot Officer Diaz, it happened so
quickly it was like slow motion. The boys screamed in terror, the muzzle
flashed and the officer went down, while Terry shouted at Michelle.

"GO, GO, GO."

It was a lucky thing that Officer Diaz was alert, he saw the gun come up,
knew he wouldn't be able to unhook the safety strap and pull his in time to
return fire, so he leaned away from the blast and that saved his live. The
bullet hit his shoulder, instead of his chest, and though the wound was
serious, it wasn't critical. It took all his strength, but he was able to
make it back to his cruiser and his radio.

"Dispatch, this is Diaz," he panted, "Shots fired, officer down."

I was about to pack up and leave my office for the day when Mrs. Carson, my
assistant, buzzed me on the intercom.

"Dr. Clark?" she called.

"Yes?" I replied.

"There is a Detective Singer from the New Haven Police Department here, he
doesn't have an appointment," she stated.

"Oh, please send him in," I answered.

I had no idea what Detective Singer wanted, or why he hadn't called, but
with Aiden's attacker in jail and his ex-foster parents awaiting trial, I
assumed it was just a formality. I rose from my desk and crossed the floor
to shake hands with him, as he walked in, and quickly made note of the
harried look on his face.

"Sorry to bother you like this, Dr. Clark, but there's been a development
and I thought I should come straight here," said Detective Singer.

"Oh, nothing to serious I hope, please, have a seat," I offered, directing
him to a chair.

"I don't want to alarm you but Terry and Michelle Peterson are missing,"
said Detective Singer.

"What, how?" I asked incredulously.

"We're still trying to figure it out, officers were dispatched to their
apartment when their ankle bracelets stopped working this morning, but when
they got there, the Petersons were gone," the detective explained.

"Ok, what happens now?" I asked.

"We're looking for them, we'll find them, but..." he started.

"But what," I asked nervously.

"I got over there as soon as I heard what happened. I searched the place
and, well, there was a newspaper clipping on the nightstand, a picture of
your boy, something about a track meet," said Detective Singer.

"Cross country, Aiden's a runner, oh my god..." I exclaimed.

"Look Doc, there's no reason to panic but..." said Detective Singer.

"But your first instinct was to come and warn us," I replied.

"Well, yes," acknowledged the detective.

I quickly buzzed my secretary.

"Mrs. Carson, can you please have Mr. Hunt come to my office?" I asked.

"Right away Headmaster," she replied.

"Who is Mr. Hunt?" asked Detective Singer.

"Our chief of security," I explained, as I dialed the phone.

"Headmasters Residence," answered Mrs. Pennybaker.

"Hi, it's Dr. Clark, Mrs. P, are the boys there with you?" I asked.

"Jack and Nicky are upstairs doing their homework," she stated.

"What about Ethan and Aiden?" I asked.

"They haven't come home from practice, I don't expect them for another half
hour, is everything alright sir?" she asked.

"I can't explain right now but please don't let the boys leave the house
and call me the minute Ethan and Aiden walk in the door, I'm sending
someone from security to stand outside," I explained before hanging up.

I was about to call Cam when Mr. Hunt walked in. Graham Hunt was no
rent-a-cop, he was a retired U.S. Marshal. With so many children of the
rich and famous attending out school, we took security seriously. I
explained the situation to Graham but we were interrupted when a student
burst through the door.

"I'm sorry Dr. Clark, he ran right past me," said Mrs. Carson, who ran in
right behind the boy.

I recognized him from the cross country team, his name was Tyler, he was a
friend of Ethan and Aiden, the realization made my stomach drop.

"Tyler, what are..." I started.

"Van," he stuttered, trying to catch his breath, "Van, Dr. Clark, took
Ethan and Aiden."

Detective Singer and Mr. Hunt took over at that point. They questioned
Tyler, got every ounce of information they could from him, while I slumped
into my chair. A day that had started out so normally came crashing down
around me. I knew why the Peterson's would want Aiden, he was the
principal witness against them, and I suspected they took Ethan because it
was easier then separating the two, what scared me, what had me on the
verge of vomiting, was the fact that I knew they had nothing to gain by
keeping my boys alive. That's when I called Cam. He said he was going to
leave the hospital immediately, he called his department head and told him
he was leaving, when he explained why, the chief of surgery had Cam flown
back to the academy on the hospital's emergency response chopper.

Detective Singer took charge of the situation immediately; he coordinated
with the state police while Graham Hunt put the academy on lockdown. We
moved the command center to our home and we soon had an army of police
officers in our kitchen, spreading maps on the counters and coordinating
with units all over the area, an all points bulletin went out describing
the van and giving the first three numbers of its plate, courtesy of Tyler
Garrison.

When Cam's chopper landed on the football field, a security officer was
waiting there and immediately drove him home. After we hugged, we
explained the situation to Jack and Nicky. Jack took it ok, he looked
angry but he was holding up, Nicky on the other hand lost it. He sobbed
uncontrollably, Ethan was his big brother and he loved him dearly, they had
been through so much together. Then there was Aiden, like all of us, Nicky
felt protective over him and all he could think about was that we'd never
see the twins again. He was so hysterical that Cam had to give him a
sedative.

"I'll take care of him," said Jack, picking up Nicky and holding him
tightly.

"Thanks Jack," said Cam.

"Uncle Cam, Uncle Brenden, you get them back, ok? Whatever you have to do,
please bring them home," said Jack, as his lower lip started to quiver.

We hugged our nephew and it took all of our strength not to break down, we
had to be strong to get through this. There would be time for tears when
this was over, right now; if we were going to get our boys back we had to
keep a clear head.

"Jesus Christ, Terry, you shot a cop," said Michelle.

They had pulled up to a house in a run-down cul-du-sac, the house was a
foreclosure and they had decided to use it when they agreed that Aiden had
to be eliminated. Their plan had fallen apart rapidly, first there had
been two boys running through the path in the woods, and they looked alike,
then they'd been pulled over and were now not only kidnappers but cop
killers. The first thing they had done when they reached the house was to
tie the boys up in one of the bedrooms. They were seated in wooden chairs,
back to back, their wrists tied behind them, their ankles to the chair
legs.

"I know Michelle, I know," shouted Terry.

"Well what the fuck are we going to do about it?" Michelle shouted back.

"Change of plans, instead of killing them, we'll hold them for ransom,
we'll use them as leverage to get the hell out of here," Terry explained.

"Oh my God, are you fucking insane?" said Michelle.

"Well unless you got a better idea," Terry shouted back.

"Terry, we're gonna get killed, let's just leave them here and get the hell
out," Michelle pleaded.

"Just let me think, there's got to be a way to come out on top," said
Terry.

Back at our house, Cam and I answered every question the police could come
up with, anything that might help them find the boys. That didn't last
long, we hadn't seen any strange activity around the academy and we hadn't
been in contact with anyone that knew the Petersons. The only way they'd
been able to find out where Aiden was, was from that newspaper story,
celebrating his victory. Every second the boys were gone felt like an
eternity, the only way we kept from losing it was to help Mrs. Pennybaker
make sandwiches for the cops. It wasn't much, but if you concentrate very
hard, even a sandwich can occupy your mind.

"Dr. Clark, Dr. Tucker, can I speak to you in here for a moment?" asked
Detective Singer, directing us into the study.

"Ok, we've got some news but you're going to want to sit down for this," he
stated.

"What is it? Did you find them? Are they..." said Cam.

"Whoa, whoa, no we haven't found them, and don't even think about what you
were going to say," said Detective Singer, "As god as my witness, we're
going to find those boys."

"Ok, let's all calm down, what was it you wanted to tell us?" I asked.

"As they were making their escape from the vicinity, the Peterson's got
pulled over for speeding by a state trooper," said Detective Singer.

"How do you know it was them?" asked Cam.

"The man and woman in the front seat match the description of Michelle and
Terry Peterson, there were two boys, age 13 or 14 in the back seat, the
officer described them as twins, that's gotta be our vehicle, right?" said
the detective.

"So he stopped them, got the boys out?" I asked.

"Not exactly, Terry Peterson shot the officer," said Detective Singer.

"Oh Jesus, of God," said Cam.

I felt myself going weak in the knees.

"Look, I know this is hard for you but in a way this is good news," said
the detective, "If they were going to kill the boys I don't think they
would have taken them, they'd have just shot them and left them in the
woods."

The detective went on to reassure us, explained his reasons why he believed
the Peterson's were still holding onto the boys.

"What about the officer that was shot," asked Cam, when he'd calmed down a
little.

"He's ok, Terry Peterson is a bad shot, that's also good news, the officer
got us their full license plate and a full description of the vehicle,"
said the detective.

"Detective, there's one thing I don't get," I stated, "what took so long
for them to connect the officers shooting with our case?"

"Things are happening quickly, sometimes it's just a matter of the right
information landing on the right desk at the right time, I know you don't
want to hear it now but you have to trust the system," said the detective.

"Yeah but what if..." I followed, only to be interrupted by a knock on the
door.

"Yeah, what is it," Detective Singer called out.

"Sir, there's been a development, I think you'll want to hear this," said
the uniformed police officer that stuck his head in the door.

Ten minutes later, we were in the detective's car with the lights flashing,
headed to an abandoned house two towns over.

"Ok, when we get there, you two stay by the car, the state police have
jurisdiction, we have to stay out of their way, got it?" asked Detective
Singer.

"Of course, we understand," I replied.

The house that Michelle and Terry Peterson had selected as their hideout
had been foreclosed on 6 months ago and had been sitting vacant. When a
neighbor heard people in there, arguing, he'd immediately called the
police. A patrol car was dispatched and the officer arrived on the scene
to discover a van matching the description of a vehicle involved in a
kidnapping and an officer related shooting. When he got a look at the
plate, his suspicion was concerned and he called it into headquarters.

Quickly and quietly, state troopers surrounded the area and extracted the
residents of the homes closest to the crime scene. They were waiting for a
SWAT team to arrive but were reluctant to hit the house, least they injure
one of the boys. The scene was contained, and the officer in command
decided to attempt communication with the suspects.

Inside, the boys sat quietly tied to their chairs, two scared to make a
sound.

"Aiden, what are you doing?" whispered Ethan, when he felt movement.

"I think I can get my hand out," said Aiden.

"Aiden be careful, if they catch us..." said Ethan.

"Ethan, I know these people, trust me, we have to get out of here," said
Aiden.

He was remarkably calm. After all that had happened to him, and all that
had changed for him, Aiden wasn't about to let the Peterson's ruin his new
life or hurt Ethan, he was determined to get them out. It took some doing
but after struggling for a few minutes, Aiden managed to free his hand.
With that done, it was simple to untie the rope that had bound his wrists,
his only mistake was trying to untie Ethan's wrists before he untied his
own ankles.

"Terry and Michelle Peterson, this is the Connecticut State Police, we have
you surrounded, come out with your hands up," said the state police major,
sounding like something from a bad movie.

"Oh my god, how the fuck did they find us so fast?" exclaimed Michelle.

"I don't know, but it's ok," said Terry.

"Ok, are you nuts? We're surrounded," said Michelle.

"They aren't going to do shit while we've got the boys, if they were they'd
have hit the place already," Terry explained.

"Ok Dillinger, what do we do now?" Michelle scoffed.

"For starters, I'm going to go check on those boys, make sure they aren't
up to anything, as long as we have them, we're safe," said Terry.

Terry didn't say anything when he entered the room; he quickly dropped down
to make sure that Aiden was securely tied to the chair. While Terry was
checking Aiden's ankle, Aiden made his move. With his hands free, Aiden
lunged at Terry, knocking him to the ground.

"Filthy rotten mother fucker," Aiden shouted as he took out a year of rape
and torture on his former foster parent.

Aiden smashed his fists into Terry's face, struggled with the bonds at his
ankles and tried to kick wildly. He did everything he could to hurt the
man who had hurt him so badly and it was working, Terry's face was quickly
becoming a bloody mess.

"Ah, fuck, Michelle, help me," shouted Terry, while Aiden continued to wail
on his face.

Ethan struggled to free himself so that he could help Aiden, but his wrists
were still bound.

Almost there, Ethan said to himself, while he worked to free his
hands. Just then, Michelle burst into the room, Terry's gun pointed out
ahead of her.

"NO!" shouted Ethan, when she pointed the gun at Aiden.

Michelle didn't have a clear shot and she'd never get one. Ethan used what
momentum he had to launch himself at Michelle, taking her to the ground
with his shoulder. He lay across her body, to keep her from getting up, and
was finally able to get his hands free.

Across from them, Terry had gained the upper hand and was about to strike
Aiden when Ethan kicked at him, breaking the chair leg and taking Terry in
the side, knocking off of Aiden. Ethan then turned his attention to the
gun, he tried desperately to pull it away from her but she had a death grip
on the pistol and wouldn't let go. Michelle was stronger then she looked
and with a leg still tied to the chair, Ethan wasn't in a strong position
to wrestle her. He concentrated on the gun and did everything he could to
get it away from her.

Outside the house, the police were still waiting for some kind of
acknowledgement from the Peterson's. They'd been ordered to surrender but
so far they hadn't done anything to single the police.

"How long until the SWAT team gets here?" I asked.

"They're till 15 minutes out," said the lead officer.

"I could be in New York in 15 minutes," I exaggerated, "what's the hold..."

But that's when we heard it. A very distinct sound, first one gunshot, then
another, there was no question about where they came from.

"NOOOOOOOOOO," I shouted, and instantly felt Detective Singer grab me from
behind before my feet could move towards the house.

"ETHAN, AIDEN!" shouted Cam, held back by another officer.

"God damn it," swore the officer in command, "All units, shots fired, shots
fired, hit the house, go, go, go."

"Jesus, someone get an ambulance."
