The Moon's Lament
Far Away
Another story by Miro Miro

Please Do NOT read this story if it offends you, this story is darker than
the other stories that I have written, I was in a gloomy mood and began to
write and this came out. The characters are based on several people but the
entire story is work of fiction. I hope you all enjoy it! and BTW, don't
forget to donate to Nifty, they do an amazing job and should be supported!

Lights, the lights were swimming overhead mimicking the aurora borealis,
blue, green, red, purple, they danced around to the rhythm of the music; a
sea of human silhouettes matched the rhythmic movements of the lights and
the beat of the intoxicating sound that emanated from the sub
woofers. Chills ran throughout his entire body as the music stopped playing
and a booming voice made his presence known.

"All endings must have a beginning, on this night we will embrace the
beginning of the end, we will bear witness of the power of time and alter
its perception in our world?Tonight, the end of time will come, yet here we
stand?our paths leading us all to the foot of its altar, show your respect
for Design"

The crowd erupted in cheers as a good looking young man stepped behind the
turn tables. The lights and lasers exploded into an orgasmic tempo as once
again the subwoofers spat out its sounds. Justin placed the headphones on
his head and quickly transformed into the person he truly was, into the
person that had no worries, no pain, no sorrow, he was no longer the lost
and broken boy that everyone knew him as.

His golden hair was quickly beginning to darken, the after effects of the
sweat that was now forming on his forehead. He looked at the sea of people
and quickly felt a rush of adrenaline as the booming Hardstyle kick-drum
rocked the arena, this only fueled his excitement as he began to jump up
and down in concert with the song. His grey eyes scanned the crowd for his
friends and boyfriend who always traveled with him to watch him
perform. His eyes finally rested on another young man jumping up and down
as furiously as he was, he smiled and gave him a thumb's up. This made his
heart flutter, Justin owed everything to him, to his boyfriend, to his
savior. It was Hayden who had given him the courage to face his demons, to
defeat them, it was Hayden who helped him overcome the pain all those years
ago.

Justin stopped jumping and began to cue up his second song, it was one of
his favorites, it was a song that brought back many tough memories for him
but it was necessary for him to tell his story through his music, the music
he loved so much. He flawlessly began to blend the song "Overcome" by the
Donkey Rollers, the crowd reacted positively by cheering even louder when
they realized what song he was now playing. He knew that as the song played
his mind would take him back to his childhood, it would take him back to
the pain, the darkness, the filth but he knew that it was a memory and
nothing more. A woman's voice began to speak:

"Am I awake? Where am I? Is this my world? Am I still dreaming? I open my
eyes, I can hear, feel, and smell my surroundings, but my sight paralyzes
me, is this happening? This cannot be real! There's movement throughout the
house, voices I hear that aren't coming from him?HIM?now I remember,
demonic eyes that held me in his gaze, the fear overwhelms me, he steps
closer?and closer?.his evil conscious takes over once more?"

His heart began to ache at the thoughts that were now flooding his entire
being, he looked at the crowd once more and into Hayden's eyes where he
knew he would find comfort and strength. He enjoyed watching his boyfriend
dance as he manipulated the music. Hayden had not lost his youthful energy
or his mischeviousness, at the age of 19 he was still the same boy he was
when they first met, they had only been 11 back then, it seemed so long ago
now, like a lifetime had gone by. The song continued to play snapping him
back to reality. He began to hop up and down again as he tried to energize
the crowd, the crowd responded by following his lead.

Justin had always been deeply in love with music, he was an old soul
trapped in a little boy's body. He had a knack for music, he was able to
pick up an instrument and play a melody after a few tries. When his mother
Judith noticed little Justin banging on pots and pans to make a rhythmic
sound she knew right away that he was musically inclined, even at the age
of 3. She bought him a guitar at the age of 6 and paid for a private tutor
to teach him to play it. The instructor was amazed at how quickly he was
able to pick up the intricacy of some notes. He recommended having him
evaluated by the San Diego School of Arts, a school for gifted and talented
young musicians. She thought Justin was too young for that sort of
commitment. It took his instructor many meetings to finally convince her to
allow him to be evaluated.

Justin at the age of 6 was a very lively and happy boy, he was friendly and
very polite. He knew that his mother being a single mom had a hard time
even at such a young age and felt terrible whenever he acted up. He loved
her dearly and knew that he could help her simply by behaving and minding
his manners. He owed everything to her as well, she had encouraged him to
continue with his dream of being a musician which he did.

Justin looked for his mother in the crowd and locked eyes with her who was
dancing right along with Hayden. He smiled at her, waved and went back to
mixing his third song, a song that he knew would send a message to Hayden,
an inside joke if you will. He once again blended the incoming song
flawlessly as a woman seductively began to repeat "I like your style, I
like your style, I like your style cuz it's so hard!".

He saw as Hayden burst out laughing and clapping, Judith looked at him with
a puzzled look but went back to dancing. He did not intend on playing the
song for too long so he quickly changed over to one of his favorite songs,
"The Final Duck Down" by Da Tweekaz. This got the crowd to once again roar
with approval, he saw as men and woman alike began to dance and hop up and
down. The lights were now dancing in conjunction with the beat of the song
while screens behind him were now broadcasting several shots of the crowd
with kaleidoscope behind them making the colors even more intense. Justin
aka Design was now reaching the most exciting part of his set as he quickly
mixed in "Gentleman" by Da Tweekaz.

He was no longer paying attention to his loved ones, his set required for
him to pay extreme attention to what he was doing. He wanted the crowd to
reach a euphoric state all induced by his music. His current choices of
tracks would accomplish that being that they were fast pace, pounding, and
exciting songs. He chose to play "The Sound of the Underground" by Isaac,
eliciting a positive effect from the crowd. The crowd seemed content with
his choice of tracks they were approving of his style, of his abilities as
a DJ and he was truly enjoying this. Before being invited to "Qlimax" he
had doubted his abilities as a DJ, he questioned himself all of the time
something that Hayden didn't like about him. His friends and family assured
him that he would do fine but being an American DJ playing at a European
event he thought that the likelihood of being accepted was minimal,
especially because he would be playing at a massive event that hosts world
class DJ's from across Europe.

Soon after learning to play the guitar at the age of 6 he came across
Electronic Dance Music as he surfed the internet. He immediately fell in
love with the intoxicating electric sounds of Trance. He soon found that
his musical inclination was more towards EDM but he continued to enjoy
other genres of music as well. At the age of 8 after listening to Trance
for 2 years he stumbled across a subgenre of EDM they called "Hardstyle" he
immediately fell in love. This would be the beginning of a journey that
ultimately brought him to Europe where he was at now, an American Hardstyle
DJ headlining Qlimax.

Justin or Design as he was known behind his turntables, continued to
brutalize his audience with his Hardstyle sounds, he chose "Unite" by Coone
making the crowd roar, followed by "The Words" by the same artist. He
wanted to bring the level of energy down to a more melodic aura, he wanted
to give his audience a break from the onslaught of Hard that he was giving
them. He then blended the track "Musical Notez" by Coone and finally "Free
Again" by the same artist. The crowd was now swimming in a euphoric state,
the melodic tracks that were now being played had done their job and
brought the crowd to a more mellow yet Hard state of being.

Justin waved as his final track wound down, he took his phone out and began
to snap pictures of the entire crowd, this by far had been the largest
crowd he had ever played for, it was an experience that he would never
forget, it was something that he had only dreamed about, to be in the
Netherlands, where Hardstyle originated at as an American DJ was a great
accomplishment. He looked down to see his boyfriend, friends and mother
wiping their eyes, they were truly proud of Justin, they were proud of
everything he had overcome, of everything he had lived through.

"That was insane!" Hayden said the moment he saw Justin backstage.

"Yeah dude?.look?." Justin said extending his hands out to see how much
they were still trembling.

"Aww were you nervous?" Hayden said as he gave him a hug.

"Nah no way, it's adrenaline...how'd I do?" Justin asked his loved ones.

All at once they began to speak telling him how proud they were of him and
what great job he had done. They told him that he matched the Dutch DJ's
which was something he really didn't believe. At that moment his heart
stopped. Walking towards him were the Donkey Rollers.

"Good job" Zany said as he stuck his hand out to shake it.

"Uh..thanks!" Justin replied in disbelief.

"Sick Set!" Mc Dv8 said also extending his hand out to Justin.

Justin couldn't believe his luck, here he was shaking the hands of one of
the originating groups of Hardstyle, people he had been listening to since
he stumbled across Hardstyle, he took a deep breath and asked for a
selfie. They kindly obliged and posed with Justin, this truly had been a
night to remember for him, it was a night that he would cherish and would
hopefully replace his other memories, the memories he fought every day to
forget.

"Come on lets go enjoy the rest of Qlimax" Justin said as he led his
friends and family back out the arena.

This night, the night that Justin would never forget almost didn't happen,
he had overcome challenges and many difficult times but tonight all of that
had been forgotten, the nightmare he lived was in his past, it was a
distant memory that every so often would rear its ugly head.

Justin grew up in a very loving home, he was surrounded by aunts and uncles
that loved him very much. His mother was abandoned by Justin's father right
before Justin was born. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters who helped her out
as much as they could so they never went without. At school Justin was your
typical kid, the only thing that set him apart was his fascination with
music, he would always bang on his desk absentmindedly causing his teachers
to complain.

After being evaluated by the San Diego School of Arts he was promised a
full tuition for when he turned 13. He was excited knowing that he would
eventually be going to a school where they would understand his insatiable
thirst for music. At night he would occasionally hear his mother weep, at
first it had shocked him believing that perhaps he had been a bad boy. The
first time he heard her cry he immediately crawled in bed with her to
comfort her. He tenderly asked her if he had been a bad boy but this only
made her cry even more.

"No sweetheart, you haven't been a bad boy, I'm just sad." His mother
soothingly replied as she hugged him tightly.

This seemed to calm his fears and before he knew it he had fallen asleep in
his mother's arms. He had always enjoyed cuddling with her, he felt safe,
warm, as if he was being wrapped by the Shechinah Herself. His mother
ensured he learned about his Jewish heritage, she made sure they went to
Synagogue every Shabbat and every Holy Day. He especially enjoyed Purim
when he was able to dress up with the rest of the kids. He was enthralled
by the melodic chanting of the Chazzan; he joined the men in their swaying
as they sent their prayers to heaven.

As a single mother the Rabbi made sure that she paid nothing for her son's
Hebrew/Jewish education something she was thankful for. As for Justin he
really enjoyed going to synagogue to learn about his Sephardic Jewish
heritage. He was a good looking boy and many people commented about this,
he looked just like his father, who had left them before he was born.

His father was a gentile of Scandinavian decent, he met Judith while they
both served in the Navy, he was a Gunner's Mate aboard the USS Nimitz while
she was a Corpsman aboard the same aircraft carrier. It was love at first
sight; it was passionate, lustful, and fiery. The moment the fire and the
passion left he discarded her and his unborn child like every day
rubbish. He never looked back and she being as strong as she is stepped up
and did what was expected of her.

The older Justin got the less and less he heard his mother weep at
night. When he turned 11 his life changed forever and in many different
ways. It all started one afternoon when he was playing in the front lawn
with his dog kibbles. He noticed that down the street there was a moving
truck and he immediately got excited at the prospect of meeting new
people. He enjoyed the company of others, he was a social butterfly of
sorts. He immediately brought his dog in doors and ran to the house that
had the moving truck parked in front.

"Hey! Who's moving in?" He asked a large man who was struggling with some
boxes.

"Fuck I don't know kid!" He complained.

"Ugh, that was rude?" Justin said making the man chuckle.

"Well I apologize little man, that's them there" He said as he nodded
towards a family who was standing inside of the garage supervising the
movers.

Justin immediately walked inside of the garage as if he had known the
family for years, his heart leapt when he saw two kids that looked to be
about his age.

"Hi are you guys moving in?" He excitedly asked the group of people who
were now looking at him in bewilderment.

"Yeah we are, and you are?" The man responded.

"Oh sorry, I am Avichai ben Daniel, but you can call me Justin, or Avi if
we become friends, or you can make up a name for me, whatever you chose is
fine with me" He cheerfully said all in one breath.

The man and his wife looked at each other and smiled, the two kids began to
giggle.

"What's so funny?" Justin asked.

"Yeah? What's so funny?" The woman asked both of her children pinching the
boy who just happened to be closest to her.

"Oww! Nothing?it's just that he talks fast!" The boy complained as he began
to rub the back of his arm where he had been pinched.

"Nice to meet you" Justin said as he extended his little hand towards the
other boy who just looked lost, he didn't know what to do or what to say.

"Shake his hand son" The man said.

The boy looked up at his father and obeyed his command, he reached out and
took Justin's hand in his and shook it.

"What's your name?" Justin cheerfully asked.

"Hayden"

"Cool, I like the name?sorry I'm hyper, actually I'm really really hyper, I
had a rockstar but please don't tell mom, she would kill me but I was
thirsty and I was playing with my dog?"

"-whoa slowdown" The man chuckled.

"Okay" Justin replied as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "I'm
better".

"Hi, my name is Amanda" The girl said as she also extended her hand.

Justin shook it enjoying how soft and warm she felt, his heart began to
flutter.

"I'm Frank and that's my wife Amanda" The man said as he shook Justin's
hand as well.

The family took Justin inside (they chose to call him Justin) and gave him
a tour. By the end of it both boys were proclaiming that they were now best
buds and would be expected to spend a lot of time with each other. Justin
even asked to spend the night which Hayden excitedly agreed to, it didn't
take long to convince Hayden's parents, especially because he put on his
sad puppy dog eyes to work.

Justin was a very adorable child, he had sandy blond hair, grey sparkling
eyes, long eye lashes, thin lips that had a very nice pinkish red hue to
them. At 11 years old he stood about 4' 9" and weight about 90 pounds. He
wore his hair short that was always covered in a black Kippah, his mother
allowed him to pick out his own clothes when they shopped and surprisingly
enough he had a good sense of style. People tended to label him a prep but
he did not like the label, in fact he detested all sorts of labels, he
believed that labels only served to limit a person, something he refused to
accept.

Hayden was just as adorable and stood the same height as Justin, he was
also blonde, with dimples on each of his cheeks that showed when he smiled
or spoke. His eyes were a hazel that occasionally changed to a green. He
enjoyed the outdoors so he kept a year round olive complexion. He took
after his mother whereas his sister took after her father in the looks
department giving Hayden a soft, feminine quality that made him look even
more adorable.

Justin helped Hayden unpack his things occasionally picking a toy up to
play with it, he would shout for joy whenever he saw an XboX game he liked
or already had and begged to play it. After a few hours Justin looked at
his phone and noticed that he had spent too long at Hayden's house. He
decided it would be best to get home before his mother showed up and got
angry, this obviously got Hayden upset so he invited him over. Both boys
asked Hayden's parents and they quickly agreed to it seeing as it was only
down the street.

When the boys made it to Justin's house he immediately took Hayden up to
his room and showed him everything he had in it. His room was covered in
posters, some were of rock bands like Black Sabbath, Slipknot as well as
EDM groups, he had a poster of Trance DJ's like Tiesto and Ferry Corsten as
well as Hardstyle DJ's like Da Tweekaz, and the Donkey Rollers. He also had
posters of events like Defqon1, Qlimax, and Sensation Black.

"Whoa, what's all that?" Hayden asked as he rushed over to his turn tables.

"Oh yeah I'm learning to how DJ" Justin said uninterested in sharing his
musical talent with his friend. In the past his friends had seemed bored
whenever he spoke to them about Hardstyle or other EDM genres.

"Sick!" was all that Hayden said as he moved on to look at the guitar, he
picked it up making Justin smile.

"You play?" Justin asked.

"Nah?want to learn though" Hayden replied sounding disappointed.

"I can teach you if you want" Justin said as he walked over to grab the
guitar from Hayden.

"Hell yeah that would be sick!"

Justin began to show Hayden how to properly hold the guitar and proper
finger placement, a few minutes later they heard noises coming from just
outside the bedroom door.

"It's mom!" Justin yelled as he ran out the room to greet her. She had bags
of groceries that she was struggling with, Justin immediately took them
from her and rushed them over to the kitchen counter. Hayden appeared
surprising Judith.

"Hi and you are?" She asked the bewildered looking boy.

"Oh yeah I forgot, that's Hayden mom they just moved in down the street"
Justin said as he pushed past his mom and stood next to his new friend
"He's my best friend" He added.

"Oh well it's nice to meet you Hayden, I'm Judith" She said as she extended
her hand.

"Nice to meet you ma'am" Hayden said as he shook her hand.

"Oh how formal!" She commented.

Both boys began to speak to her about everything that had transpired
throughout the day, about their initial meeting and how they begged
Hayden's parents to let them spend the night together. She smiled and
listened to them ramble on agreeing to their sleepover. Hayden begged her
to go meet his parents which she gladly agreed to. Justin immediately ran
to his room and packed his backpack with essentials for the sleepover, one
of them being his iPod.

The three of them walked towards Hayden's house, as they walked the boys
were running around and giggling happy to be spending the night
together. When they arrived at Hayden's house they were spotted by his
sister who called out her parents. They both greeted Judith warmly and
invited her in but she kindly refused explaining to them that she had to
put the house in order and put away the groceries she just bought. They
made small talk to get to know each other, all three grownups seemed to
connect immediately easing Judith's worries. She kissed Justin good night,
told him to be in his best behavior and left.

The boys immediately rushed to Hayden's room to continue organizing it,
there were pile of things strewn about, there were boxes on top of boxes
and the bed was still unassembled. They began to meticulously organize the
room putting up some posters of movies and TV shows. Hayden's sister came
in and told them that some pizza was ordered causing the boys to erupt in
cheers. A few minutes after Amanda's announcement they heard the doorbell
causing them to run out of the room and into the living room to wait for
the pizza. They were disappointed when they saw that the pizza had not
arrived, instead they saw a young man greeting both Amanda's.

The moment that Hayden saw the man he rushed him and gave him a hug.

"Hey little man! How's it going?" The man asked ruffling the boy's hair.

"Good! Hey meet my best friend Justin" Hayden said as he pulled on Justin's
arm to come closer.

"Hello there" The man said as he ruffled Justin's hair causing his Kippah
to fall off "Oops I'm sorry" the man apologized.

"It's okay, what's your name?" Justin said as he bent down to pick his
Kippah up.

"I'm his cousin Robert, or Rob whatever you prefer." The man said.

"Hmm?I'll call you Rob" Justin said as he shook the man's hand.

"So are you sleeping here tonight?" Hayden asked the man.

"Yeah I will be helping your dad out tomorrow so I said 'what the hell I'll
sleep over'"

"Awesome!" Hayden said as he launched himself into the man's arms.

Justin noticed that they were close, he noticed the love that Hayden exuded
causing him to feel tingly inside. Hayden and Rob spoke about many
different things while Justin occasionally joined in the conversation. He
even told Rob that he would be learning how to finally play the guitar
thanks to his best bud Justin. At this Rob showed some interest and asked
him all about it. Justin spoke to him briefly about his music abilities
surprising the man that he was so talented.

Finally the pizza arrived and was greeted by cheers from the boys and
Amanda who were famished. They sat down on the couches, the only things
that were free of boxes and ate the pizza. The entire family enjoyed the
time talking about many different things, they included Justin in the
conversations to make sure he didn't feel left out. Amanda found Monopoly
and asked Rob, Hayden and Justin to join her in a game, they all sat on the
living room floor and began to play while Hayden's father reassembled the
kid's beds.

By the time 11 pm hit Amanda and Justin had already lost leaving Hayden and
Rob to battle it out. Justin noticed that out the window they had a clear
view of a full moon that was shining it's rays right on him, he smiled and
closed his eyes for a minute imagining that he was in space standing on the
moon looking back down towards the earth.

He began to yawn and before he knew it he had already fallen
asleep. Hayden's father noticed that both Amanda and Justin were now asleep
so he carefully picked Amanda up and took her to her room. He came back for
Justin but was stopped by Rob.

"I'll get him, get to bed" He whispered trying not to wake Justin up.

Frank agreed and told them to wrap the game up, Rob and Hayden both yawned
at the same time and agreed to end it calling it a tie.

"Could you take him to my room?" Hayden asked Rob but Rob nodded his head
no.

"No just let him sleep out here?I'll be out here too to keep an eye on
him?go get some sleep" He whispered.

Rob picked Justin off the floor and carefully placed him on the couch and
took his shoes off. Hayden brought him a blanket and carefully placed it
over his sleeping friend. Hayden hugged Rob good night and slowly walked
into his room and undressed himself. Exhaustion had taken over and it was
increasingly difficult to keep his eyes open. He climbed into bed and
quickly fell asleep.

The house was quiet, the moon was shining it's brilliant light into the
living room causing Justin's face to shine a silvery hue. He knew no pain,
no sorrow, no confusion in the world he was currently in. He was dreaming
of being on stage playing his instruments for people, his dreams were vivid
and full of color and life, he felt free when he was on stage, it brought
him happiness. The lights on the stage began to dim, the crowd stopped
cheering, he began to fumble notes and his playing became erratic. He
couldn't comprehend why his world was turning dark, he didn't comprehend
why he was feeling a pull from somewhere, a strange place. His heart was
racing, his mind was swimming, there was something going on that was
causing him to feel tingly all over but he dared not wake up, he knew that
if he opened his eyes he would witness something evil, somewhere he didn't
want to be in.

Lights began to flutter in his eyes as he felt a jolt of electricity that
ran from his groin throughout his entire body, it caused his entire body to
tense up and then spasm. He couldn't help it, he had to open his eyes, his
penis felt wet, it felt as if he had peed himself. He opened his eyes and
between his legs he saw a person's head, but it couldn't be, it didn't make
sense, why would someone have their faces so close to his penis? He was
confused but knew that something different was going on.

He gently pushed the person's head out of the way and heard a slurping
sound as his penis left the confines of the person's mouth. His heart
stopped, Rob, it was Rob who was doing something he couldn't comprehend.

"Shhh just lay back" He heard a guttural sound that reminded him of a human
voice.

He looked to his right and looked up at the sky, the moon, his friend was
weeping, it was lamenting and screaming out. It was hurting by the evil it
was witnessing.

"Run my child, run far away and escape, come to me!" He heard the
comforting voice of the moon say as he closed his eyes, a single tear drop
ran down his beautiful face and landed on the cushion. He forced his mind
to enter the place that brought him comfort, he walked back on stage and
began to play his music.
