and dramas, then read on, and I hope you enjoy it!

In the last chapter, Xander got the Homecoming Bash set up, was
thanked by the student body, and even paid for his work! The next day, he
went shopping, where he met Tessa, a girl he found weird, quirky, and nice,
all at the same time. There, she invited him to come to her Halloween party
in two days. In this chapter, Xander acts on his decision to her
invitation, Luke gets persistent with a question for Xander, and Finn
realizes something about.

~~Chapter Fourteen – Little Wizard~~

[Xander]

I think I got the address right, but knowing me, I probably ended
up at the wrong party. There's one going on three doors down, too. That
one's outdoors, this one's indoor, though the window is open, and I can
hear them chatting and talking and having fun, and someone's playing the
guitar. I knock on the door, and a guy about a year older than me (maybe,
he looks a year older than me, and I look younger than I am, so I might be
wrong) with hair and eyes like mine answers the door. That's really
creepy. Well, I know his hair's like mine because his eyebrows are the same
color as mine, but his hair is purple, matching Tessa's hair color from
Saturday.

"Whoa," he says. "It's like looking at a younger version of me. Hi,
I'm Matt, can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Tessa's party," I say. "I think I got the address
wrong."

	"Terrible Tessa?" He asks.

	"Tessa Martins."

"That's the witch," he grins at me. "Right street, wrong house,
three doors down that way," he points in the direction of the outdoor
party. "This is my birthday party."

"Why are you throwing your birthday party on Halloween instead of
on a weekend?"

"Because it's my birthday," he says cheerfully. "Have fun, and tell
Tessa that her king is angry that she chose to throw a competing party
instead of just attending mine."

"She's your boyfriend?" I ask. "She didn't mention you."

"We're not dating!" He laughs. "My boyfriend's inside. My last
name's King, it's a running joke with my group of friends."

	"You're weird."

"I could say the same for you."

	"I know," I look down.

"What's wrong?" He suddenly looks serious. "Hey, I was only
teasing."

"But I am weird," I say. "My last name's King, but I'm just a
peasant. I don't deserve it. I'm worthless and pathetic and stupid and
don't deserve my inheritance. Bye."

I turn and leave the house, starting to walk back the way I came,
feeling tears running down my cheeks. That's how pathetic I am, I'm
crying. Boys don't cry.

"Little wizard!" Matt chases after me. "Little wizard, wait up!"

I pick up my pace, but he catches up to me and grabs my arm. I freeze
up, he's going to hurt me, he's probably going to beat me and rape me, and-

"What's wrong?" He tilts his head down, looking into my eyes, and
all I see is worry. "Little wizard, you went the wrong way, Tessa's party's
that way."

	"I'm not going."

	"You were a minute ago."

	"I'm not worthy."

"Tessa doesn't care about stuff like that," he says. "She'd
mentioned she met a kid named Xander while she was out shopping, I'm
guessing that was you?" I nod. "She's really looking forward to seeing you
at the party, X. In fact, it's all she could focus on at school today. I
don't know how many times she told me she hoped you'd be there. Also, you
said your last name was 'King', so hold your head up like a king."

	"I'm not worthy of that."

"All a matter of perspective," Matt's grin returns. "Don't give a
damn what others think, X. Your last name's King? Own it. It's your name,
it's your life. Don't let others put you down, no matter what. Know you're
a King, and never stop knowing that. If others try to put you down, that's
because you're above them, and they don't like that."

	"You sound like my shrink."

"Your shrink sounds like a smart man."

"She's stupid," I say. "But not as stupid and worthless as me."

"I've got a therapist of my own," Matt says. "His name's Landon,
and he's pretty young. I saw him for years before I ever talked to him, and
it took getting a boyfriend for me to start. Of course, that wasn't part of
his master plan, which was just to get me to go to school and face my
fears, but hey – look at me now! I'm worth millions!"

"You're worth millions?" I look up at him.

"You really don't know who I am, do you?" He asks, and I shake my
head. "I'm fourteen today, and a year ago today, I created my own
networking accounts. By that point, I was an internet sensation due to my
musical ability, ability I had high doubts in, even though I was really
good. Now, I've got a bunch of skits I've done with my friends, over thirty
music videos I've posted, and traveled the world over the summer. That was
fun, even if I forgot to tell my boyfriend I was going, so he completely
misunderstood and thought I'd broken up with him because of timing of
something else.
"Listen up, X," he says. "Tessa's a great person, and whether
you're a king or a peasant, a jester or a noble, she doesn't care – she
wants to be your friend, and woe unto any who invoke her wrath. Don't show
up, and you'll do that. If she's got your number, she'll blow up your
phone, and trust me, you don't want that."

"No, I don't want her to blow up my phone."

That would be bad. I'd get into a lot of trouble for it, even
though I paid for it myself. Maybe I could find another phone for twenty
dollars somewhere.

"Go to her party, X," Matt puts a hand on my shoulder, looking down
at me with those gorgeous blue-gray-green eyes, which a smile has
completely filled. "And enjoy yourself. Trust me, you won't regret it."

	"But-" I start to say.

"Do you have any skills or talents?" He changes topics. "Something
you doubt, but other people seem to think is good?"

"I like planning," I say. "The high school thought my homecoming
was good, and paid me a thousand dollars for it, but they said they thought
I deserved more for my work. That's why I was buying clothes, I wanted
more, and I don't want to use my allowance."

"You like planning things?" He asks.

"Parties and dances," I nod. "But I don't tell anyone, because
they'll think they're all stupid, because I'm stupid and pathetic and
worthless and-"

"And the high school," he interrupts me. "Said you were god at
it. Screw the haters. Literally if they're cute. Now, I gotta get back to
my party, before they tear the house down. Gotta keep an eye on them at all
times, or they get crazy."

He twirls a finger around his ear while rolling his eyes, a goofy
smile on his face, and I giggle a little bit.

He takes off to his house, and I turn around and go to the other
house with a party, since he said it was the right one. I don't trust him,
but the address matches up.

There are a bunch of people in the back yard, with a note on the
door saying the party is out back, so I walk around to the back. I'm
dressed like a wizard, with a pointy hat and a cloak and a wand, and that's
probably why Matt called me 'little wizard' as he chased me.

Karma helped me pick it out. I don't know why I let Mrs. Scott buy
it for me yesterday. I didn't want her to spend money on me. I still have
money, I could have paid for it. Why did I let her buy it for me? I feel
bad about that. I'm worried, too. She'll probably make me pay her for it
from my allowance, or dock it from next month's.

Most of the people are dressed up. There are a few witches, some
knights, some ghosts, some clowns, some scarecrows, some princesses, and
such. There are probably about thirty or forty people crammed into the
backyard. The zombies scare me. I've got holy water in my cloak, just in
case. And garlic and a silver cross, too, in case I come across any
vampires. I couldn't find a silver knife, though, in case of werewolves, so
I hope the holy water and cross do the trick. Or I could just scream and
run like I normally do.

There are some games or something going on. People are trying to
eat donuts hanging on a string with their hands held behind their back,
people cheering them on. That's weird. Others are trying to grab an apple
out of a bucket filled with water using their mouths. That's not
sanitary. The punch is in a bowl shaped like a cauldron. That's cool.

"Who are you?" A boy dressed up like a viking approaches me. He's
my age, but a bigger kid, and he's got a scary look on his face. "This
party's only for people who were invited, and I don't know you."

Before I can answer, my name is squealed.

"Xander!" Tessa approaches us. "You made it! Hey, Josh, meet
Xander! He's the guy I told you I met on Saturday. You're a wizard!"

	"You're a witch."

Tessa's got on all-black, with a black skirt, a pointy hat, spider
and cat jewelry and designs on her outfit, and pointy shoes. Plus a broom,
and she uses that to smack Josh over the head. Her hair is still purple,
and it looks right for her outfit. Maybe she made it purple for Halloween?

"That's for scaring Xander," she says, then looks at me. "Don't
mind him, he's a bigger kid, but he's all brawn and no brain."

"She says about the guy who scored higher than her on the last math
test," he snorts, looking at me. "Nice to meet you, Xander. Sorry 'bout
scaring you, we had some party crashers a minute ago, completely ignoring
the sign that said "Party by invite ONLY!" Mrs. Reynolds posted on the
gate. You go to school around here?"

	"Yes."

	"Where at?"

If he finds out I'm going to a rich kid school, he'll probably not
like me. He seems friendly right now, I don't want to ruin that. Plus, I'm
not a rich kid.

"Somewhere," I answer, and for a moment, I think it's the wrong
answer, but then he laughs. "What?"

"Sorry," he smiles at me. "You're just a little funny. Come on,
we're about to start the mummy wrap. Want to be wrapped?"

"Wrapped?" Ropes? I don't think I like this party anymore.

	"Yeah," he says.

"Come on!" Tessa grabs my arm and drags me over to one corner,
where a group of kids are standing around. Josh follows us. "Let's get
started, everyone! Who's on the first set?"

Five boys and three girls raise their hands, and Tessa orders them
into pairs. The only adult I see here, a man who shares Tessa's brown hair,
but has brown eyes instead of green, tells them all to get into
pairs. There are packages of toilet paper standing by them, four packages
total, each one with nine rolls.

"Grab your first roll," the man says, and one person from each pair
grabs a roll of toilet paper, opening it a little bit. "And go!"

He starts a timer, and then the people holding the toilet paper
starts wrapping up their partner with it. So they're wrapping with toilet
paper, not tying people up. Okay. Ninety seconds later, the man calls for
them to stop, and everyone jumps back. The man judges everyone by how
wrapped they are with the toilet paper.

"Jada won!" He announces, and a short black girl pumps her fists in
the air with a 'yes!', and everyone laughs. "Alright, unwrap yourselves,
it's your turn to wrap your partners!"

After the second round, Tessa drags me in, saying she'll wrap me,
then I'll wrap her. She gets second-place, and then when I wrap her, I get
first place. I manage to almost completely wrap her in the ninety seconds.

Out of the sixteen people who were wrapped, eight with each set of
pairs in all four rounds, there were four winners. The four of us are given
a person to wrap, and then compete against each other. I win that one, too.

"You could look happy, you know," Tessa pokes me in the arm, and I
flinch. I didn't mean to, but I did. "Since you win the big prize."

"There were prizes?" There were prizes?

"Twenty-five dollar gift card to Panda Express," the man
says. "Goes to the first-place winner. You three, here are your five-dollar
gift cards."

I get a gift card for coming in first? Cool. I've never won
anything before.

"You don't really show you're happy, do you?" Tessa asks me, and I
look at her, shaking my head as I pocket the gift card before it disappears
to someone else. "You're weird. I like that. Come on, let's go bobbing for
apples."

	"Is that even sanitary?"

"Not in the slightest," she laughs. "But who cares?"

She grabs my arm and drags me over to the bucket. I can't get an
apple at all, and Tessa manages to get one.

"Don't look so down," she smiles at me. "No one ever gets it their
first time. Was this your first time?" I nod. "Yeah, it's not as easy as it
looks. Try again!"

So I do, but I fail. She moves me on to the donuts, they're
stringing up some new ones. She asks if I've ever done this before, and I
shake my head.

"You have to eat the entire donut off the string," she says. "But
you have to keep your hands behind your back. We tie them there, so you
can't move them. We had issues with that last year, someone didn't want to
keep their hands behind their back and then grabbed the donut. So we tie
the hands."

"No tying," I shake my head, involuntarily taking a step back. My
hat fell off, so I pick it up and put it back on. "I...I don't like being
tied up."

She stares at me, and I'm worried she's going to know what
happened, or tell me that I have to get tied up and play the game.

"Alright," she says. "We won't tie your hands. I saw you flinch
when I pocked you and grabbed you, and when I went to wrap you up. I'm
guessing something happened to you. That's fine. You can play, but keep
your hands behind your back. Hey, everyone playing this game! Xander's not
going to have his hands tied because I said so! You got a problem with
that, you can eat dog poo instead of donuts!"

Trying to get the donut off is frustrating. The goal is to be the
first person to eat the entire thing. I suck at it. I try to be first, but
I'm not. It was fun, though. I wipe my face off and put my hat back on,
grabbing the rest of the donut off the string and eating it before cleaning
my hands off.

Their snacks are good. And free. I like their punch. Tessa drags me
around the party, talking to everyone. There are some other games, Tessa
gets me to play them. We all end up covered in silly string and glitter,
too.

It's a school night, so they end the party at nine and send
everyone home, giving them a 'goody bag', which is just a little paper
Halloween bag filled with candy and a caramel apple.

"Hanging out with you was fun," Tessa pokes me in the arm, and I
flinch again. "Oh, sorry! Forgot you don't like being touched. Hang out
again sometime, will you, Xander?"

	"Um..."

"Great!" She exclaims before I can answer. "Some friends and I are
going to the zoo on Saturday, let me know if you're coming with us. We'll
pick you up, if you need it."

"Um...okay," I say, then start walking home.

The driver finds me on my way home. I didn't have him drop me off
at the house, but a few blocks away, and walked to the party. I got there
late. No one cared. He asks me why I'm covered in silly string and glitter,
and I shrug. He tells me to get in, so I do, worried I'll get in trouble
for messing the car up, but he doesn't say anything, just take me to the
house.

I get to the house and go up to the room and strip off the costume
and take a shower, then dump all my candy on the floor and start eating the
caramel apple as I think about tonight. It was fun. And Tessa invited me to
hang out again this weekend. She didn't tell me I was, and she didn't make
me feel like I had to. All she said was let her know if I'm going. Maybe
I'll go hang out with her.

I check my phone, curious to know why no one contacted me while I
was at the party to find out when I was coming home, and find a bunch of
missed texts from everyone. Well, from the Scotts and the twins. I text
Mr. Scott to let him know I'm home, and must not have heard my phone going
off when the texts were showing up. A few minutes later, there's a knock on
my door. I quickly pull on my pajamas, then open it up.

"Where were you?" He asks, his gaze traveling past me. I look where
he's looking and see my costume. "That's a lot of silly string, Xander."

"It's not really silly," I say. "It's annoying. Took forever to get
out of my hair. I didn't get all the glitter off, either. Sorry for ruining
the costume."

"Did you have fun wherever you were?" He asks, and I nod. "Then
it's a fair trade."

"What's a zoo like?" I ask without meaning to, my face heating up.

"A zoo?" He frowns at me. Uh-oh. "Didn't you go to one in third
grade?"

"I was supposed to," I shake my head. "I was didn't go to school
that day."

That was the morning my arm was broken the first time. That was the
only time I was ever supposed to go to the zoo, either everyone else
already had that year, or I left that school before they went. When I was
at the home, they went to the zoo whenever I was gone, never when I was
there.

"Oh," he says. "It can be noisy and smelly, but it's filled with
animals, and ours has a sea lion show, where they have the sea lions do all
sorts of tricks and stuff. Why, were you wanting to go?"

"I was just curious," I shrug. "Maybe. I don't know. I'm going to
bed. Goodnight."

I close my door and clean up the mess from my candy, then lie down
on my bed and go to sleep, clutching Trenton tightly. They're starting part
of the trial this week. Only a few of the boys are going to be
judged. They're having a headache trying to sort out everything. The ones
who've confessed are getting their hearing on Wednesday, and I'm not
sleeping well. I'm scared. They're going to want me in there and look at
them. That's in two days. I'm not going to be able to focus at school at
all. I can't focus now.

Eventually, it's time for me to get up, my alarm going off really
loudly. I strip off my clothes and pull on my running outfit, making a stop
in the bathroom before my morning exercises, like I always do, smiling at
myself in the mirror for a moment before stopping. I'm going to break the
mirror doing that. Not literally, it's a metaphor, so it's not lying. It
means I'm ugly.

"Today will be a good day," I start. "I woke up today, I'm stupid,
and I'm pathetic. I won something yesterday, for the first time. I had fun
yesterday. Yesterday was a good day."

I've had three good days within a week. There's got to be something
bad coming my way. Probably tomorrow, at the hearing.

[Luke]

"Earth to Luke!" Parker startles me out of my thoughts, making me
jump. "Finally. You walked right past me and sat down in class without
saying a word."

"I did?" I look around, only then realizing I'm sitting in my seat
in class already.

A few people are look at me curiously. Xander's got his head on his
arms at his desk, and he looks adorable. The school knows that he'll
probably be napping in classes, the trial starts tomorrow, and he won't
have gotten much sleep.

"What were you thinking about?" He asks. "Everyone's curious to
know what's gotten you to shut up."

"There's only one thing that can stop me," I look at him, and he
looks at Xander. "Yeah. So I was on Facebook this morning, and noticed some
pictures had gone up on this commoner's profile, a friend of a friend of
Ian's, the one who does gymnastics and martial arts. I could only see them
because Ian was tagged in the comments on them, and while he's not a
commoner, he does associate with them. Xander's in those pictures."

	"Doing what?"

"It was a Halloween party," I answer. "And he was actively
participating. Everything about that was just weird. I think she was
forcing him to participate, he didn't look too happy. Xander has us decent,
civilized people to hang out with, and he goes and hangs out with the
lesser ones, those who are nothing more than our workforce. I suppose that
it is to be expected of him, to continue to hold onto his old life, even
though he has ascended to his rightful position."

"You really are obsessed with him, aren't you?" Parker asks.

"Indeed, so," I answer. "That godly boy has issues, and he needs to
get over them, or he'll never get anywhere in life. With his looks and
intelligence, he could have anything he wanted, and he chooses to cling to
the life of the poor folk."

The bell rings, and Xander doesn't jump like everyone expects him
to. He just sits up and looks at the teacher. So he was awake. But why
didn't he even show that he was startled by the bell, as he has done every
single time it's rung since he started showing up to school?

The day passes, and Xander tries to rest some, but never manages
to. As usual, he sits out in P.E., which is our last class of the day, and
instead of just sitting on the bleachers and watching, he lies down on
them, using his arm as a pillow, and gets some rest. I think he does
actually sleep, because he fidgets and squirms, but he doesn't start
screaming, like he's done in the past when he falls asleep at school.

The kid needs something to get his mind off the trial. He'll have a
rough couple of days, with it starting tomorrow. At the end of the school
day, I approach him.

"My birthday's Friday," I say. "I'm having a sleepover, and Garret
and Parker will be there. I've asked a few other people, but they've all
said either they can't come, don't want to come, or aren't sure if they can
come. Will you come?"

	"No."

	"Please?"

	"No."

	"I'm begging you."

	"I'm rejecting you."

He's annoyed. Better back off, or I'll ruin any chance I have of
convincing him to come.

I leave for home, and after doing my homework, grab the driver and
have him take me over to the Scotts', where I ask a maid if Xander's in his
room.

"Not sure," she answers. "I can find out for you."

"Please do," I say. "I'd like to speak with him."

She leaves me in the foyer, and I roll my eyes, then head up to his
room. No one answers, so I open the door, and he's not in there. Wow is his
room plain. No mess or really any sign of a boy living in it, the walls a
plain beige, his furniture plain and simple. The games and movies he got
for his birthday are completely unopened and sitting, organized neatly, in
the entertainment center beneath his T.V., the remotes for everything
sitting on the center, some with that protective plastic still on them. The
user manuals for everything are lined up neatly on the center as well. The
only real signs that someone lives in the room are the hamper with dirty
clothes in the closet, the clothes in the closet, the backpack by the door,
and the dreamcatcher above his bed.

His bathroom's empty and as plain as his bedroom, the only signs of
life being the towel hanging on a bar on the wall, neatly hung, Xander's
toothbrush and toothpaste and floss and stuff in a drawer under the sink
(which I find weird), as well as a first-aid kit and three bottles of lube,
all fruity scents, and none of which seem to have been used before. I guess
with having a foreskin, lube isn't really needed. I've heard that before,
but I never believed it. I kind of want to know why he's keeping them in
his medicine cabinet. Since I can't find him, I decide to leave a note for
him on his desk, and leave his bathroom.

"What are you doing in here?" A voice asks as I enter the bedroom,
and I jump, turning to face Mr. Scott.

"Looking for Xander," I answer. "The maid left me by myself and
didn't return after twenty minutes, so I figured I'd see if he was up in
his room. His backpack's here, but he's not. I wanted to talk with him, is
he out on one of his walks?"

"She left you," he says. "Because she was trying to get permission
to tell you where he's at, though she shouldn't have left you alone. I'll
make sure the staff knows to not let you out of their sight from now on."

	"Permission?'

"Xander's in his hiding space," Mr. Scott answers. "We pretend like
we don't know about it, and he doesn't seem to realize anyone knows. Since
that gives him peace of mind, we don't bother him there. That keeps the
place a safe space for him. The answer's going to be that we won't tell you
where he's at, as he doesn't seem to like you, even though he hangs out
with you. What is it you wanted to tell him?"

"Just that," I say. "If he changes his mind about hanging out this
weekend for my birthday, the invitation's still open, but to let me know at
least by the end of school on Friday. So you know, it's a sleepover, and
the only people I've confirmed are coming are Parker and Garret. That part,
he already knows. I just know that with the trial and everything starting
tomorrow, it might be fun for him to hang out on Friday."

"Are you going to the zoo on Saturday?" Mr. Scott asks as I leave
the room, and he closes the door behind me. "For your birthday party?"

	"No, why?"

"Xander's been asking about the zoo," Mr. Scott explains. "And it
seemed like he had plans on going. He said he was thinking about
going. After that, he left to go to his hiding place."

"Hey, Uncle Trey," Finn says, and we both look to him. "Hey,
Luke. Uncle Trey, do you mind if I use the sauna in the annex? Ours is
broken, I get stares at the public one, and I'd rather not be in the one
here that's open to your staff."

"Temporarily closed," Mr. Scott quickly says.

"By that," I say, and he looks at me. "You mean that Xander's
there, don't you? The sauna's hiding hiding place."

"Dammit, Luke," Mr. Scott glares at me. "You're not going there and
bothering him. And it's the annex itself that's his hiding place, though he
does use the sauna. I think he's the first person who's ever actually used
it. We keep the annex maintained just in case, but no one's ever actually
used it before."

"You know the staff probably has."

"Not if they want to keep their jobs," he says. "I've got cameras
watching the building, inside and out, and while they're not in the spa
area, for privacy, I can see when the sauna and such are in use."

And such? What all does the annex have?

"The annex is Xander's hiding place?" Finn asks.

"Yeah," Mr. Scott looks at him. "And you're not to disturb him
there, either. According to the cameras, he entered the spa, and the sauna
just went into use a few minutes ago, so he's probably entering it as we
speak."

"Can I just go and say I didn't know?" Finn says. "I almost went
without asking, so that would've been true."

"You'd still ruin his new safe space," Mr. Scott says. "And be
warned, according to the thermostat in the sauna, Xander likes the heat
almost to where it's dangerous for a person to be in the sauna."

"We can go together," I look at Finn. "And say that I was looking
for him, and since I couldn't find him, I was leaving, but then you invited
me to come use the sauna with you, and we didn't know he was in there. If
he tells us to go away, we will. He probably will. If that happens, it'll
probably stay his safe space."

[Finn]

Uncle Trey tried to hold his ground, but he failed. It wasn't until
I assured him that if Xander shooed us away, and that he probably would,
that we'd leave, that Uncle Trey gave in and agreed, making me swear that
if Xander told us to go, we would do so immediately.

Luke and I both wonder, on our way to the annex, just how honest
Uncle Trey was about the heat level Xander prefers in there. We also wonder
how Xander found out how to use a sauna, since he doesn't seem to like to
do things behind people's backs, but definitely wouldn't have asked anyone
for help.

I'm not sure whether to be scared or proud of Xander for going and
using the annex without permission.

The annex is technically a house by itself, situated a little bit
away from the main building in its own area, surrounded by trees. The
ground floor is the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, the second floor is
the bedroom, and the basement is the rec room and exercise area. Extending
behind the building is an area that's walled in, and slopes down, forming a
yard lower than the area around the annex. The first floor has a porch
sticking out that spans the length of the back of the annex, with steps
leading down. Under one half of it is a room that can be entered either
from outside or the basement, which contains the spa.

The back yard contains a hot tub and a small pool, a patio on the
ground, which can be accessed from outside or from the basement. The yard
itself is a fair size.

The spa itself extends past the other half of the patio on
ground-level, half of which extends to fill the whole thing and is there
the steps come down from. The spa, when entered from either downstairs, is
split into three sections, two of which are only separated by a tile wall,
which are the jacuzzi and the small 'bath' to close up the pores. The third
is the sauna room itself. There are also stairs leading down to a second
basement level of the annex, where there's an indoor pool.

When we enter the spa, Xander's clothes are folded neatly and
sitting on a shelf by the door in the main area, including his
underwear. So he's in there naked, and there's no way we can say that we
didn't know he's in there.

I'm curious to know if he closes his pores up after, going into the
small pool of cold water that's meant just for that purpose. Xander's
deathly terrified of drowning, so it's unlikely he'd do that, for fear of
drowning.

Luke and I both strip off our clothes and enter the sauna, with me
grabbing a couple of bottles of water from the case by the door before
stepping inside. I make sure the door is closed quickly behind us, as Luke
froze up when he entered, staring at Xander.

Xander's lying on the lowest of the three levels of benches,
completely naked, his eyes closed, his boner pointing straight up. He's
somewhere between three and a half and four inches, a little bit fat, and
uncut. Luke's starting to look his age, but Xander still looks a fair bit
younger, and damn, seeing that dick on his frame makes me hard
instantly. Luke is shocked, too, but at least I was able to recover.

Xander is lying on his back with his feet facing the door, so his
left arm is on our side. He looks so serene and peaceful, it's hard to
imagine everything he's gone through.

He doesn't react to us entering, so I worry that he got relaxed and
fell asleep, but as Luke and I sit down on the other side of the sauna,
Xander reaches down with an arm, grabs the ladle from the wooden bucket,
and scoops out some water and pours it onto the rocks in the middle of the
room, a fresh cloud of steam billowing up and filling the
room. Immediately, the room heats up. Yeah, Uncle Trey was right, Xander
enjoys the room deathly hot, and probably doesn't go on the upper level for
full enjoyment of the heat just so that he can keep putting water on the
stones.

He's covered in a layer of sweat, and he looks completely
relaxed. He's also not wearing his brace, even though he's not supposed to
be seen to see if it can come off until Thursday, and it's not with his
clothes outside.

Damn boy wants that to stay on forever.

Luke opens his mouth to say something.

"Be careful," Xander suddenly speaks up, as if he knew Luke was
about to speak. "Or the sauna fairy will get you."

"The what?" Luke looks completely bewildered.

"The sauna fairy," Xander sits up and looks at Luke, his blue-gray
eyes serious. "According to the Finnish, a sauna has a resident fairy, the
sauna fairy. It doesn't like negativity or hostility or rudeness in the
saunas, so if someone upsets it or crosses a line, it exacts revenge. Also,
before you ask me again, I'm not going to your party or sleepover on
Friday."

Once more, Luke is at a loss for words. I can't believe that
Xander's able to do that to him so often, yet I'm also amazed at his
ability to just be him and get Luke to shut up.

I'm also amazed by Xander being so up-front about not going to the
party, stating it before it's mentioned. That's definitely unlike him.

Xander reaches down and grabs a bottle of water, taking a sip from
it before putting it back down, then he lies back down and closes his eyes
again. As he sat up to drink, I noticed an adder stone sitting by his right
arm.

After Xander lies back down, I check out Luke. The heat from the
sauna's got our circulation going now, and so we're both hard. The annoying
kid is about three and a half inches, a little shorter than Xander, and I'd
say that his thickness is about average.

Xander keeps it hot in here, almost unbearably so for both Luke and
myself, though neither of us say anything about it. We knew it would be
when we came in, due to Uncle Trey's warning.

Every now and then, Xander takes a sip from his water, and a couple
of times, he gets a little bit of water from the bucket and pulls back his
foreskin, wetting it before letting it cover the head again.

"Why do you keep doing that?" Luke asks Xander after the third
time.

"It dries out under the foreskin in here," Xander says. "To keep it
from drying out and cracking, I wet it when I feel it start to dry out."

	"That's stupid," Luke says.

"The sauna fairy's going to get you for that."

Xander's face is emotionless, as is typical when he's not freaking
out or worried, but his eyes are completely and entirely serious, and I
start to wonder if he's a little superstitious. And then I realize that he
definitely is. I've never see him step on a crack while he's walking on a
sidewalk before. Ever. He changes his walking pattern to avoid doing that,
taking bigger or smaller steps when needed. At the family dinner with my
godparents last time, he accidentally knocked over the salt, and when he
did, he grabbed a pinch and threw it behind him. Dad joked about him being
superstitious, and his face went red, but no one thought it was true. He's
also got a bunch of pressed and dried four-leaf clovers.

Okay, so that one, I found out while snooping around his room. I
honestly didn't think anything of it at the time, thought that maybe he
just thought they were cool. But when I switch to thinking he's
superstitious, I realize that he probably hunts them down for good
luck. He's got, like fifty of them. Probably thinks he needs more for good
luck.

I found those clovers in a small wooden box that also contains a
bunch of adder stones. For those who don't know what they are, adder stones
are smooth stones, usually from a river, round in shape with a hole
naturally formed in the middle. They're not all perfect, but he's got a few
that are perfectly formed, with a perfect circle shape, as well as a
perfect circle hole that sits right in the center. Some beliefs say that
you can use them to view the magical world, others say that they accelerate
healing.

Xander's also always got that dreamcatcher. I just thought he had
it because it supposedly filters out bad dreams, even though it doesn't
help him, but now I wonder if he thinks it actually does filter out bad
dreams. If so, I wonder how bad he thinks his dreams can get, considering
how severe they've been with that there.

"Wow," Luke says. "Believing in something like that, Xander?
Seriously? There's no such thing as a sauna fairy."

Luke rolls his eyes and gets up, and as he walks to leave, he trips
and falls, hitting his head against the bench, then moans on the floor.

Xander claps his hands together and quickly bows his head a little,
eyes closed. I'm not sure if he's thanking the sauna fairy, or asking for
forgiveness, but that quick motion confirms that he truly does believe in
it.

I really don't want to be the person to break his heart and tell
him none of that stuff exists. A sauna fairy didn't cause Luke to fall,
standing up too quickly after being in a sauna for so long without drinking
anything did.

	Still, though, he's adorable.

~~END OF CHAPTER FOURTEEN~~

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it! Any feedback is
appreciated, be it comments, questions, suggestions, etc., and you can
reach me at kingkurt1339@gmail.com – I try to respond to all emails!
Also, I've now created a mailing list, so if you want to be added to it,
let me know!

TriviaTime! Xander being superstitious has existed (somewhat) since
the beginning of NLXK, but for some reason, it never came up. He also often
prays to the sandman for good dreams, and believes in the tooth fairy, but
thinks the tooth fairy doesn't like him, since his teeth never get replaced
with money and are just left alone, even though they're perfect.

If there's any trivia you guys want me to share in the chapters,
send me an email with "TriviaTime! Trivia Request" in the body with the
request following it, and I might add in that trivia! More than a few
readers have discovered that they can get trivia just by asking me.

Yes, that was the Matt that's coming soon! His story starts roughly
a year before NLXK, and a couple of months before NLCK. In fact, the Wolf's
Dragon makes an appearance in it fast! There will be character crossovers
between the stories, too!

Thanks for reading, and look forward to Chapter 15!
