Subject: Chapter 76 of Tunnel

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who replied to me in e mail
this week. The response was great and I couldnt be happier to see that you
are reading and commenting on the story some. Even thought I am pretty sure
that more than 25 of you are out there at least the e mails that I got were
enough to make me happy and keep my level of excitemnt about doing Tunnel

Chapter 76.				Another day without Tommy.



Day four without Tommy started on a somewhat normal enough note as Ben woke
up Shawn when he came in to change Tommy's bandages around 8am. After
apologizing to Shawn for waking him Shawn watched him do his job.  He told
Shawn afterwards that they appear to be healing nicely now and that as far
as he could see there wasn't any infection but as he has said before he is
not a doctor and was only taking his best guess. He left after he was done
talking and looking over Tommy, about ten minutes later. Shortly after that
Jon came in to see how Tommy was doing. He sat and talked to Tommy for a

"Then go get some towels." Jon said.

"Do you think we should use these Jon why not just use paper towels and

"I'll bring spray back and a big plastic bag so we can just throw all of
that out."

could."

Jon headed over to the bathroom leaving Shawn with Kyle.

and make sure that whoever changes his bandages puts plenty of salve on

"I'll bring them up." Shawn said.

"Okay, Kyle said, just don't stay too long."

to hear this but if Tommy were to wake up now and saw how we were living he
might have a stroke from the mess you guys have made while he was
unconscious. It's not fair to him or any of us!"

They talked amongst themselves for a bit and then a few at a time agreed
that Jon and Kyle were right and they started to clean downstairs. With
almost everyone chipping in the house was ninety percent clean by 8pm and
before Cameron and DJ came downstairs they were all but done. Vacuuming and
all was done quickly and the house went from a total disaster to a clean
semi fresh smelling house with seven bags of garbage sitting out in the
foyer in front of the door ready to be taken outside by someone. Both Jon
and Kyle were very happy with the quick turn around and the house was now
close to perfect. They got everyone's attention and thanked them before
heading upstairs to check on Tommy and free Shawn up for a bit. As soon as
the garbage went outside for the night they told the boys they were done
and thanked them for their hard work.

"Okay guys you did great and Tommy would be proud. Let's hope we can tell
him soon. We are going to check on him and everyone have a great night and
please don't stay up too late."

With that Kyle turned to go upstairs after saying goodbye to the three
C's. (Cameron, Chance, and Chase) all three boys thanked everyone for a
great day and they thanked Cameron for the milk and eggs before they headed
out to his truck. DJ went with them and they stole a kiss while Chance and
Chase were in the truck. Kyle was watching from the upstairs window and saw
this and just smiled. Looks like everyone is happy now... he thought to
himself. Shortly after that DJ watched from outside and Kyle from Tommy's
window as Cam started his truck and waved goodbye as they headed
home. Cameron has strict instructions to call if there was a problem or as
soon as they got in the house so there would be no worrying. Minus the fact
that Tommy was hurt the day was a total success and it showed on DJ's face
as he came back in from outside smiling away. Shawn was the first to see
him after he shut the door.

"So you had a good night I see."

"Yeah can you tell. It was great having the guys here."

"I bet. So when are you going over there?"

"As soon as Tommy gets better. I want to be here when he wakes up and then
I will think about going there."

"You know DJ I wouldn't say this to anyone but since we both have been over
there and I sorta know you I did see Cameron going into your room before
and I bet I know what happened..."

They both smiled at one another.

"You won't say anything will you Shawn?"

"Heck no you are my friend and I wouldn't tell anyone about that, I'ts not
fair!"

"Thanks Shawn you are a good guy."

He rubbed his head and walked away still smiling from his earlier
activities. Shawn headed upstairs and into Tommy's room.

"Guys if its okay I am going to go to bed Ben had me up at 8am changing
Tommy's bandages and I really wanna get some rest. I'll watch Tommy tonight
like the other nights. I swear if anything happens at all I will come get
you!"

"Okay Shawn but you better..." Kyle said to him rather jokingly.

He looked at Jon and then they all said goodnight and left Shawn with
Tommy. He got undressed and slipped into bed naked like he always did after
shutting the door and lights off... All but one on the other side of the
bed just incase Tommy was to wake up. He quickly fell asleep from the
excitement of the day. The swimming, the boys over to visit and everything
else pooped him out. Downstairs most of the other boys were pretty close to
feeling the same way. By 10pm the TV was off and it was already quiet. Luke
was in with Kyle and he had his dog with him tonight. Patches was asleep on
the front floor and Kyle and Luke were talking some while they both sat on
Kyle's bed. The house was alarmed for the night and Tommy's sign hung on
the door as usual for anyone who tried to escape. Joey and Billy were once
again discussing how to get Chris away from Danny for a bit with no results
just yet. Ben was in his room Jeremy was too. Caleb who was hardly heard
from today was on the couch but still awake. He was around but just quiet
today as he thought a lot about what Kate and Bryan said to him when they
saw him last. It was weighing heavy on his mind and with no one to talk to
he felt a little confused. The same went for Todd who still feels like an
outsider even though he knows he can go back up to the other house anytime
he wants. He did get what he wanted from up there the other day and was now
sleeping a little more comfortably on the couch but was still wishing he
had a bed to spread out on. Jordan and Zack were doing good and since his
punishment Zack hasn't had one argument with Jordan and even Jordy has been
very happy with having his brother back. DJ... well what more can we say
about him, Jon or Kyle. Around 10:30 DJ's phone rang. It was Cameron
calling to tell him they made it home just fine and everything was great
and the boys were just going to bed. They told each other that they cared a
lot about one another but the LOVE word hasn't crept into their
conversations just yet and then they said good night. All sixteen boys were
someplace to be found at this point of the story and other then Tommy
things were going pretty well for once. 11pm the house was dark—minus the
nightlights and quiet. Shawn was asleep next to Tommy and hours later in
the middle of the night something in Tommy's mind began to stir...


"Tommy... hey Tommy how are you? I see that you just came back I have been
watching over the house while you were hurt and out of it. I missed having
all the boys around."

Tommy began to toss and turn.

"Who is this..." he asked.

"Wow how fast you forget..."

"I'm sorry I have been hurt and my brain hasn't been working since I
fell. I don't know who you are and why are you bothering me?"

"That's awful rude of you Thomas to call someone you said you cared about a
bother."

"You are starting to freak me out please tell me who you are."

"Not just yet Thomas. Since you have forgotten so quickly I want to see if
I can jar your memory some. It seems there were some tears shed over me."

"Tears? Is that supposed to be a hint?"

"Yes that's a start. As I sit here and watch you recover from your injures
and read my books I know you are still enjoying having so many boys around
you..."

"How do you know so much about me?"

"You miss them lately Tommy don't you. It's been a few days since you last
talked to any of them and it might be time for you to go back to them
soon."

"Why are you doing this to me, why won't you tell me who you are? I can't
see you only hear you and it's starting to bother me. If you want to talk
to me at least let me see who I am talking to."

"Shortly Tommy I will come to you... shortly. I will give you one more good
hint."

"If you can't figure it out how are these thoughts? First let's just say it
was dark when you found me... you went to walk away but as you turned I
asked you to stay...I said to you please mister don't come any closer I
don't want you shooting me... I was a mess then and even though our first
meeting was scary and odd you took me in and protected me...even though I
didn't know you at the time but I didn't want you near me or helping
me... Does that help you some?"

"I wish I could say yes but it would help if I could see your face..."
Tommy said to the voice.

"I remember you looking into my blue eyes and you coming to me as I fell. I
was never really big but you did try to help after you scared me. There is
more but I am sure this last thing will help you... my mommy used to give
me a bath..."

"Trevor? Is that you Trevor?"

"Yes Tommy I am here in your dream and I wanted to tell you how much I miss
you and all the others. Its nice where I am but this isn't about me... it's
about you. I wish I could tell you exactly what I know but I am not allowed
to change the course of time and what can happen to others too much
but... its time for you to get back to your boys now... they miss you and
love you like I did. I just couldn't admit it while I was alive. I am here
to free you from your coma and let you go back to the people who have cried
over you and prayed at your side for the last few days...Tommy you will
soon be with them again."

Suddenly as Trevor talked to Tommy in his dream his image appeared. The
blue eyes, the short skinny body, his cute voice becoming clearer. His
blonde hair even blonder in the dream... his facial features beautiful,
chiseled and standing out like he were still alive.

"Tommy you look scared of me."

"Not really scared cutie just shocked that you are in my thoughts."

"I won't be for long, all I need to tell you now is... beware of someone in
your recent past and watch for them again in your future..."

"That is all I should really say for now about the future Tommy. I don't
know if you can say this without them thinking you have gone crazy but tell
the others I miss them and I watch over them every day. Your brother is
great and he really is starting to like Luke... That Zack kid is sure a
handful but give him time Tommy he reminds me of me in some ways... The
boys on the farm are good kids they need some guidance and lots of love,
always keep in touch with them Tommy so they don't get hurt... Jon really
does love you too ya know almost as much as you love Shawn but be
forewarned don't let Shawn out of your site too much or you could lose
him... I can't say anymore about that either Tommy. I am sorry I probably
will get in trouble for saying this much.  I have to go now so you can rest
but I want to leave you with two more things before you will wake and
finally get back to them. Shawn is at your side now. Other then the first
night he hasn't been away from you much now for what you need to know
before I have to go ...first... one last warning...keep your eyes open
because one day in the future things could really get hot close to
home... remember the fires Tommy they aren't over... just not yet...the
near future is where they could strike again... and finally the second
thing and most important for me... I do love you and how you tried to save
me from Robert that day which is why I am here. What you did or tried to do
for me that day made us bond in some way. You will not be forgotten for all
you have done for these boys good or bad... I know you aren't an angel when
it comes to the boys or especially me back then. I was a tough, a real
smart kid and a hard shell to crack and if Robert didn't take me away you
would have eventually won me over some day... Robert doesn't have much to
say these days he is spending his time getting hot flashes... don't let
Zack or Ryan or Todd slip away like I did... fight for all three boys
Tommy-- you are strong, you will win them over with a lot of hard work. I
know you will.

Tommy I have to go but I do love you... So do your parents... bye...

The image of Trevor slowly faded away from Tommy's thoughts. His breathing
calmed and a tear rolled down the cheek of his face as Trevor disappeared
from site.

Tommy opened his eyes and looked around the dimly lit room. Shawn was
sleeping next to him. He put his hand out and touched Shawn. He was awake
now and back from his long time away from the boys...his head hurt as he
slowly tried to sit up. He had to lie back down. He began to sob quietly
from the dream he just had. It was clear as day now that the dream was over
he almost couldn't realize he was really here he thought to himself. He
didn't know anything about how long he was out or what day or time it was
until he looked at the clock but that only told him it was early morning,
not what day it was or what happened to him. He dried his face and then
reached out to Shawn. He briefly tried to think about what happened but he
was drawing a blank right now. It was time to let someone know he was back
and soon he would be ready to face the others but right now he needed two
boys...his brother and Shawn more than anything in this world.

What's ahead: At this point I am deciding between a new chapter of BT which
would be Chapter 9... (thanks for those who caught my mistake last time) or
my almost complete character chapter which is a little detailed and growing
bigger with each boy in it. Enough so for it to be a chapter on its own.
And of course chapter 77 which will probably make a lot of you happy since
the way 76 ended I can see your faces right now... I promise you wont wait
long I will try to keep it down to a week between chapters for NOW... as
