After a recent email or two regarding David's 'plan' that I've mentioned,
I'll try to explain it more clearly. The impetus was the confrontation
with his mom regarding his relationship with his little sister, and the
statement made to "grow up." The plan is this...basically become a
'nonentity.' Shift the attention from himself to others, so he's not the
one in the limelight. Doing well in school and Scouts, along with not
'taking Lynn's bait', was a means to the end. If the adults in his life
figured that he was fine on his own, and they didn't have to worry about
him, then so much the better. People weren't concerned with the 'good'
kids, just the 'bad' ones. While maybe not the most sound psychological
decision, it worked for him.

Here is Chapter 21....

FROM CHAPTER 20

David laughed and said, "We've got plenty of time for your dirty mind,
let's get dressed and check out this pit. We've been in it, but really
haven't explored it too good."

"Whatever you say," said Kelly, with a huge sigh of mock disappointment.
Then he grinned, "Yeah, we DO have plenty of time for YOUR dirty mind!"
Then he dived into the tent to get dressed. David, shaking his head soon
followed. Soon the boys were dressed and ready to start their new day.

UNDER PRESSURE 21 - Swamp Things

The ore pit the boys had camped next to was one they hadn't explored all
that much, just a quick glimpse from the rim. This one was smaller, but
deeper and had held no previous interest. But since they were here, why
not?

Clad in jeans and t-shirts, with their long-sleeved shirts wrapped around
their waists, the boys began their descent into the pit. The walls were
steeper than the others and it took them a while to reach the bottom,
grabbing onto tree trunks to help slow their descent. Finally on the floor
of the pit, they discovered it was swampier than the other three, with
well-defined channels of slowly flowing water. Making their way from high
ground to high ground, they were soon halfway across when one of the
'streams' suddenly disappeared into a pile of rocks. Curious, they
examined the pile of jumbled rocks, hearing the water gurgling over and
between whatever lay underneath. Pulling some of the top rocks away, they
uncovered a large flat rock the size of a bed. The water disappeared under
this rock, but there was no way they could lift that one. Sort of
disappointed, they jumped onto the remaining rock and surveyed the area.
David spotted something strange a few hundred feet away through the trees.
He pointed it out to Kelly, who agreed that they should definitely check it
out. The only problem they could see was that the visible path to it was
through some pretty swampy ground.

"Well, ya think we can get there?" David asked.

"Dunno, looks pretty nasty, let's see if there's another way."

Kelly and David left their lookout and headed off in a roundabout course,
trying to find a drier way to what looked like a framework of some kind,
but the further they walked, the swampier it got.

"Well, looks like there's no other way," Kelly said as they climbed up on
the original rock.

"Looks like there's little island things we can use though."

"If you're game, I am," smiled Kelly.

"Let's go," David said, taking a large step onto the first hump of dry
land. The next was a little further away, and David had to jump. Landing
on the edge, broad jumping definitely wasn't for him, he landed on the edge
and teetered there, arms swinging to regain his balance.

"Didn't know you were a ballet dancer," laughed Kelly.

He shot a glance at his grinning friend, "I'm not, but your future wife
is," referring to Lynn.

"Oh, you are so dead."

Kelly jumped to the same hummock as David, grabbing him around the waist to
keep his balance, almost toppling them both off into the swamp.

"Way to go, what are you trying to do, get us muddy?" David groused.

Kelly laughed and pushed David enough to make him stumble at the edge of
the hummock, grabbing hold of his shirt to pull him back at the last
minute.

As his heart dropped back from his throat, David said, "Stop it, that looks
nasty," motioning to the soggy ground.

Kelly laughed and jumped to the next hummock, landing securely. "See?
That's the way you do it. You need a little skill." Then he jumped to the
next one.

David followed, they were getting closer, but still too far to make out
what the thing was. After a few more jumps, they found themselves on a
relatively large piece of dry land. Looking around, they saw they had gone
off course a little, but there seemed to be a hump of dry, weed covered
ground about 15 feet in front of them that seemed to go in the right
direction. Between them and this 'pathway' there was one more hummock.
Both boys were sweating from their exertions, and slipped off their
t-shirts, tucking them into the waists of their jeans, after wiping the
sweat from their faces and torsos.

"We're going to have to hit it running, and then push off that one to get
to the next," Kelly instructed. He then backed to the edge of the hummock
they were on, took about two running steps and jumped, ready to push off of
the intermediate hummock. Unfortunately, it wasn't really a hummock, just
some grass and weeds that had managed to push up through the water.
Surprised at the lack of firm footing under his feet, his body continued
forward, landing with a muddy splash, face first.

David thought he was going to burst, he was laughing so hard. Tears
running from his eyes, he yelled at Kelly, "Way to go, Mr. Coordination."

Kelly really didn't find his situation that amusing. He pushed himself up,
away from the nasty smelling mud and water that was his landing pad, and
glared back at David.

"Quit laughing, it's not that funny, it's gross!"

Seeing Kelly's dirty face and chest, rivulets of water cutting tracks
through the muck, he began laughing even harder. "It's the Creature from
the Black Lagoon," he chortled.

"Dammit, stop it, Dave!"

The tone of Kelly's voice settled David down a little, the laughing
stopped, but the grin remained. Kelly was now standing up in the muck, the
front of him totally soaked and mud coated. He began wiping the worst of
it off with his hands, a grinning David observing his lack of real success
cleaning himself off. When he thought he was somewhat presentable, he
looked over to where David was still on his piece of dry ground.

Sighing, he said, "It's everywhere, and it smells, let's head back, so I
can change." Then he began slogging through the muck toward David.
Reaching the hummock he stepped up onto it, to face a still grinning David.
Scowling at him, he said, "Yeah, you think it's funny...it's just gross."

"Yeah, and you smell funny too," David giggled.

Fed up, Kelly took action. He was tired of this. He shoved David,
catching him off balance. Surprised, David found himself stumbling
backwards, arms windmilling to no avail. He stepped back another step to
find his foot sinking into the muck. His body soon followed. On his back
in the muddy water, he felt it soaking into his clothes, the nasty smell
wafting into his nose.

"That was dumb," he yelled at Kelly, his good humor gone, "now we're both
nasty."

"Yeah, now who's Mr. Coordination?" scowled Kelly.

The boys looked at each other angrily, then the humor of their situation
began to sink in. David grinned first, still on his back. Kelly's anger
faded as he saw David grinning at him, then both boys broke into chuckles.

Standing up, David said, "You know, you're right, this feels gross."

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea," grinned Kelly.

"Ummmm, well....it woulda been ok if you hadn't messed up," David
good-naturedly teased Kelly.

"Guess sometimes it's not good to go first, let's go back."

"Well, we're already muddy, might as well go on."

Taking a few steps, David felt the mud and water that had worked itself
into his buttcrack start to feel real uncomfortable. Kelly, seeing his
look, grinned, "Told ya."

"Yeah, maybe you're right," David admitted.

Uncomfortably, the boys began to slog their way back to the tent. The
further they went, the more the mud and water worked its way into every
crack and crevice. Reaching the original rock, from where they had begun
their ill-fated journey, they climbed onto it, groaning.

"Man, this really bites," said David, getting a grunt of agreement from his
muddy, smelly friend.

Hearing the sound of the running water, both boys had the same idea.
Unwrapping their long-sleeved shirts and tossing them on the rock, they
knelt and washed them out in the water until they were reasonably clean.
Then they did the same with their t-shirts. Standing up, both boys
stripped off their muddy clothes, and waiting for the water to clear,
soaked them until the majority of the mud was gone. The two-now naked,
still dirty boys then soaked their t-shirts again, and used them as
washcloths to get most of the mud and smell off their bodies. David turned
to Kelly, holding out his soaking shirt, "Is it all gone?"

Kelly looked over his wet, naked friend and smiled. "I dunno, you might
have missed a couple spots." He took David's shirt and started to run it
over his body. He paid particular attention to David's soft dick, the
chilly water having its normal effect, keeping it soft. Finishing up by
running the shirt over David's balls, he grinned up at him.

"Don't you love me anymore?" he joked, gently squeezing David's still soft
dick.

"It's cold," David complained.

"Aww, poor baby, turn around. I want to see if you're clean back there."

Turning around, David felt Kelly run the wet shirt up and down his back,
then down over his butt and the backs of his legs. Then he slid the shirt
between David's cheeks, wiping any remnants of mud and water clean. David
felt the shirt slide over his hole, and clenched his cheeks, momentarily
trapping Kelly's hand.

"Sorry," Kelly mumbled.

"S'ok, just felt weird...and cold," David giggled. Then he felt Kelly
spread his cheeks and wipe the shirt through his crack again.

"All nice and squeaky clean," Kelly said, standing. "Now do me," Kelly
laughed, standing in front of David, arms and legs spread.

"I'm not your mommy," David teased, noticing Kelly's firm dick. Not quite
hard, it had begun to rise from it's normal position, the curve becoming
noticeable. David grinned, and took Kelly's offered t-shirt, soaked it in
the water, and immediately started rubbing his dick. Laughing at his
friend's gasp of surprise, he continued wiping the front of Kelly's body,
noticing the water had the desired affect, Kelly's dick was now soft and
his balls were drawn up with the cold. Looking down at his dick, then back
into his face, he pouted, "Don't you love me anymore?"

Kelly giggled at the use of HIS line on him, and replied, "Yeah, but it
doesn't like the cold either."

David continued wiping off Kelly's front, then grabbing his hip, turned him
around. Kelly's back wasn't actually muddy since he fell forward, but
David wasn't going to miss this opportunity. He soaked the shirt again and
wiped down Kelly's back, over his butt and legs. Then he used the still
damp shirt to wipe between Kelly's cheeks. He could tell when he brushed
over Kelly's butthole, his cheeks tensed, and he gave a little gasp.
Standing motionless, David felt Kelly's cheeks relax and he spread them to
'make sure he got everything.' David had never seen a butthole before,
never really had any interest, but it fascinated him. Kelly stood, letting
his friend examine his spread butt, then giggled and asked, "See something
interesting?" David slid the shirt up the crack again, noticing how
Kelly's pink, hairless hole clenched as he ran the shirt over it. Dropping
the shirt, he placed a fingertip on it, Kelly gasping and clenching his
cheeks shut.

Still facing away, he asked, "What did you do that for?"

"Dunno, just felt like it. Did it hurt?

"No, just felt a little strange, it was ok, I guess."

Shrugging, David stood up and hugged his friend back to him. "Sorry."

"It's ok I guess, you should be glad I didn't have to crap," Kelly giggled,
snuggling back into the boy holding him. David closed his eyes and rested
his chin on Kelly's shoulder, a familiar feeling tickling at the edge of
his brain.

"We ought to be getting back to the tent, we really need to change," David
said into Kelly's ear.

The warmth breath in his ear gave Kelly goosebumps, and he shivered a
little, "Yeah, I'm getting sort of chilly."

Wringing out their semi-clean clothes as best they could, they pulled their
jeans on, leaving their damp underwear and shirts off to alleviate some of
the chafing they would be sure to cause. The jeans weren't much better,
but at least they weren't naked. They worked their way back up the side of
the pit slowly, uncomfortable in their damp blue jeans.

"Man," Kelly huffed, "it's gonna feel good to get in some dry clothes."

"Big time," David agreed.

Reaching the top of the pit, they began to walk toward the campsite. As
they approached, they began to smell smoke, and saw a thin ribbon of it
drifting up through the trees. They looked at each other, wondering what
in the camp was burning, and started running. Getting closer, they noticed
a person sitting with his back to them, poking around a fire burning in the
unused fire pit.

"Dale!" Kelly yelled, half happy and half disappointed to see his eldest
brother there.

Dale turned around, and smiled. Noticing the damp, disheveled state of his
younger brother and best friend, he laughed, "Look what the cat drug in."

"What are you doing here?"

"Dad wanted me to check up on you and see that you were ok. And Mom
thought you two might like some hot food. Looks like you guys can use all
the help you can get."

"We're doing ok," said Kelly, sort of miffed.

"What the heck happened to you guys?" laughed Dale, "you look like two
dirty savages, and what the heck is the smell?" he asked, crinkling up his
nose.

"We need to change, be right back," answered Kelly as both boys climbed
into the tent, and changed into dry shorts and t-shirts. Their shoes were
still wet, so they gingerly picked their way back out to where Dale was
tending the fire barefooted, bringing their wet clothes along at Dale's
shouted request.

The boys spread their damp clothes out on tree limbs, and set their shoes
close to the fire to dry, then sat down and explained their expedition to
Dale. Throughout their tale, Dale was smiling and laughing at their
misadventures. When asked if he knew what the thing was they saw, he
became mysterious, "Yeah, I know what it is, you have to wait til later in
the summer before you can really get there."

"What is it?" David asked excitedly.

"You'll see, it's pretty neat," smiled Dale. That's all he would say on
the subject no matter how much pleading the two boys did.

"There's hot dogs and marshmallows, if you guys are hungry," smiled Kelly's
eldest brother, and soon the campsite was filled with the smells of hot
food. Not realizing how hungry they were, Kelly and David managed to
finish off the hot dogs, eating them directly off the sticks they cooked
them on. Noticing another tent on the opposite side of the clearing, Kelly
asked, "You staying?"

Looking up at the darkening sky, Dale answered, "You don't think I'm going
to try to find my way out of here in the dark, do you? Don't be stupid."

Kelly started getting upset, he thought his parents didn't trust him and
David, and told Dale so.

"That's not it, Kel," answered Dale, "they were worried, yeah, but I
thought it would be ok to spend the night out here with you guys."

David broke in, as he saw Kelly's face start to get red, "Hey, it's cool,
it's really HIS campsite, he's just letting us use it. You know we
wouldn't have found a place like this. Ease up, man."

Kelly swung around to look at David, and seeing that David knew what was
going through his mind, began to relax. "Ok, you're right," he mumbled
apologetically.

Dale grinned, "It's ok, Kel. And I set my tent over there because you guys
snore so loud it would keep me awake."

The mood lightened around the fire after Dale's snoring comment since all
three knew it was Dale who snored. The marshmallows were broken out, and
the three of them sat around chatting over 'dessert.' Dale gave them some
further history on the ore pits, but still wouldn't tell them what was in
the bottom of this one, just a warning to be careful when they did get
there.

As it got darker, Dale told the boys to get some sleep, so they could get
back in time for breakfast, and to wash David's clothes before he went
home. Dale began to cover the fire with dirt and as it slowly smothered,
David and Kelly crawled into their tent. Stripping out of their clothes
and into a clean pair of briefs, they slid into their bags. Softly talking
about their day, they waited until Dale wished them goodnight, and climbed
into his own tent. When Dale's snores started, David quietly giggled and
slipped an arm around Kelly's neck, pulling him close.

Crinkling his nose at the smell, he said, "Dale was right, we stink."

Kelly giggled and gave David a peck on the mouth, swiping the boys lips
with his tongue, "Yeah, we do, sort of ruins things doesn't it?"

"Yeah," David sighed, "but I still love you."

"I know, and me too, Dave." He then moved his face to David's again and
the boys joined in a short kiss until the smell got to them. Then, moving
slightly away from each other, they curled up and went to sleep beside
their boyfriend.

Another adventure at the 'pits.' That place was so 'cool.' :-) We couldn't
stay away from them. And get used to the locale, because "exploring the
ore pits" almost always led to 'playtime.' It was a pretty good place as
long as the mosquitoes and bugs weren't too bad. We soon learned the value
of citronella candles. :-)

In the next chapter you'll meet David's grandmother mentioned in the
footnote in Chapter 20. It is after a chat with her that David and Kelly
both come to some important conclusions, and life goes on. :-)
