Chapter Thirty: End of Another Year
The first Saturday morning in May, all six of us packed in
Mrs. Majeske's minivan and headed for the mall. It was great to be so
carefree finally. My parents didn't ask any questions when I asked them if
I could go to the mall with my friends, only if I needed a ride somewhere.
My mother even gave me a little spending cash, which surprised me. I don't
think she realizes how much money I have stashed away in secret.
Eddie called shotgun and got the front seat easily. Between him,
Mitch and Jeff, Matt and I don't stand a chance to get good seats. As soon
as Eddie called shotgun, Mitch and Jeff were quick to claim the middle
seats, leaving Matt and I in the back together -- they thought it was funny,
but little do they realize Matt and I wanted to sit next to each other and
don't mind the back at all.
The day before, I told Matt that even though this was as official
of a date as we can go on, we cannot act like we love each other at all --
no holding hands or kissing. He reluctantly agreed, as he always does
because he knows its right. We both have to give in to our temptations
when we're out in public and even just in our own homes. The last few
weeks, as we've had our freedom's restored we've both been very relaxed
about it though. We don't wish to push our parents too far, so we've just
been hanging out and having fun like two ordinary teenage boys. It's been
working well so far.
Once we got to the mall, Mrs. Majeske told us to call when we were
ready to leave -- she had errands to run. As we walked the mall, it wasn't
much dislike the last time I went with them. Eddie and Mitch are hot on
the trails of any girl they find attractive and Jeff is slowly behind them.
I put my two cents in every now and then. Matt caught on after a few times
that it was expected of him to get in on the action, so he did.
"How do you spot the hot chicks so fast?" Matt asked Eddie.
"I dunno. They just stand out," he said.
"Yeah, well, he can see them good," Mitch said, "but can't get a
date from any of'em. He hasn't had a date since the dance."
Eddie quickly jabbed Mitch in the upper arm, leaving Mitch
bellowing, "Bitch!"
"I can get any of them if I wanted," Eddie said confidently.
"Sure -- prove it," Mitch challenged.
I got a good laugh out of the challenged. As Eddie went to talk as
nonchalantly as possible to a girl by himself, Mitch and Jeff stood in the
shadows snickering at his attempts. Matt and I found a bench to sit and to
view the action from a distance.
"He's rather funny, don't ya think?" I said to Matt as I watched
Eddie make his move.
Matt didn't comment, rather he touched me with his index finger on
the left elbow. I looked over at him. He smiled and glanced away. I
looked at what he was looking at. It was a rather attractive boy walking
our way.
"He's cute," Matt whispered.
I giggled under my breath. "Yes, he sure is."
I looked back at Eddie, still nonchalantly making his move, but was
interrupted by Matt touching my elbow again. I looked over and he was
eyeballing another boy. This one was much older than us, maybe even old
enough to be in college.
"He's cute too," Matt whispered.
"Are you gonna be pointin' out all the cute boys you see here?"
"If Eddie and Mitch can play their game, we might as well."
"I suppose, but be careful. Don't let any of them hear us," I
said.
"Oh -- looks like Eddie just got rejected," Matt said as I looked as
saw them coming over to us.
Mitch and Jeff were laughing as they approached us.
"The girl didn't even say a word -- she just walked away. It was
hilarious!" Mitch exclaimed.
"You should'a seen he face -- she was disgusted like you had puke
all over you shirt!" Jeff added.
"OK -- how about you try the next girl then Jeff!" Eddie barked
back.
The next girl Eddie and company found interesting was in the Gap
store. She was wearing a really short skirt in which you could just about
see too much -- too much for my taste. I saw Matt give an awkward smile as
though he was thinking the same thing I was. But it drove Eddie crazy
because it was Jeff's turn and not his.
I looked around at the overly priced clothing, but as I was
browsing, I ran across another cute boy. Matt saw him about the same time.
He was probably still in middle school, but he was going to be very
impressive in a few years.
Jeff got rejected just as fast and Mitch when his turn came up. We
broke for lunch around two where we ate McDonald's located in the food
court. Lunch didn't stop the girl talk though. It continued all through
lunch.
After lunch we went back to browsing the stores and girls -- and
cute boys for Matt and I. We walked into this one store that had shirts
hanging everywhere. Shirts were on display on a grid like pattern hanging
over head. We immediately went scavenging through shirts. Many of them
were of the exotically weird nature. Eddie and Mitch found them hilarious,
but I couldn't get the humor in many of them. Eddie enjoyed the sexually
natured ones the best. Eventually it turned into a game of who should buy
which shirt. And of course, it was quite insulting. Eddie saying Mitch
should buy the shirt aimed at whores, which lead to Mitch saying Eddie
should get a certain shirt geared toward girls. It was more hilarious
watching them two insult each other than reading the shirts.
Something clicked in my head though. It made me want to buy
something for Matt -- like as a gift. I turned my attention to Matt. He
was smirking at a shirt he thought was funny. I admired him carefully. He
is really adorable when he doesn't know he's being watched. He'd giggle
and smirk at each passing t-shirt. I saw over his shoulder, a case of
jewelry. In it were necklaces not much unlike the ones Matt's parents gave
me. I saw the prices and they were reasonable for the money I had. I
talked to the clerk and ended up getting one I thought looked really nice.
It was a flat-linked gold necklace. It was very distinguished looking.
I put it away in my pocket before anyone noticed I had bought it.
They were still all busy looking at the gazillion shirts on display
everywhere. I casually worked my way back to their location. Both Eddie
and Mitch ended up buying a t-shirt each. It was rather odd because they
had never bought anything before on any of our mall trips.
By mid afternoon we were becoming pooped. Eddie called his mother
and she came and got us. When we got back to his house, I called my mother
and she came and got Matt and I.
"You have fun today?" my mom asked on our way home.
"Yes," I replied.
"Ya'll hungry?" she asked.
"Yeah, gettin' there fast."
Matt agreed when my mother asked what we wanted for dinner. Our
typical response came and pizza was on the menu.
My mother turned to me and asked, "You think Matt'll wanna stay the
night over?"
"I dunno." I looked back at Matt sitting in the rear seat and gave
a slight wink. "You wanna spend the night tonight?"
"Sure --"
"Just call your parents when we got home," my mom interrupted.
"Sure sounds great!" Matt exclaimed.
My mom ordered pizza and then Matt confirmed with his parents he
could stay the night. Matt and I went back to my room to wait for the
pizza. I didn't shut the door, but just left it cracked.
Matt sat down on my bed while I stayed standing.
"Hey Matt, I wanted to uhmm -- give you sum'in," I whispered.
He looked up at me in question. I sat down next to him as his eyes
followed. I reached in my pocket and pulled out a small box.
"I got this for ya when we were at the mall. Wanted to give it to
you in private -- for obvious reasons," I said smirking.
I opened my hand and Matt looked intently at the box on it. He
grew a large closed smile and his eyes lit up. He reached out slowly and
plucked it out of my hand.
"I can't believe you got me something," he whispered.
"Open it."
He slowly opened the small square box. Shining back at him was the
necklace I bought earlier. He picked it up slowly.
"I can't believe you got me this. When did you get it?" "I got it
today, when you weren't lookin'." "I love it Will." "I love you too
Matt."
He looked at me. "I love you too." He leaned forward and we
kissed. His hand reaching up and touching my cheek and I felt the coldness
of the necklace in his hand. I broke the kiss quicker than I wanted to
because I didn't want to be seen kissing Matt in my room. "I hope this
didn't cost you too much," Matt said softly. "Don't worry about it. I got
it 'cause I love you. Money don't matter to me."
Matt leaned forward again and kissed me. The doorbell ringing broke
out moment.
"Look, tonight when we're goin' to bed," I said quickly before my
mother would come by telling us dinner had arrived, "you're gonna sleep on
the floor here in my sleepin' bag. I don't want my parents thinkin' we
sleep together in the same bed. I'd prefer to act as normal as two
straight boys. Got it?"
Matt grinned evilly.
I got up and started opening the door. "We'll have our fun once
everyone's in asleep," I whispered as I walked out the door.
Dinner was excellent. Dinner table conversation was excellent also.
My mother has tried recently to have a family style conversation -- usually
about school or work. She has completely avoided the whole issue about me
and Matt which I genuinely appreciate. The phone rang and my dad got up to
answer it. I didn't think anything of it until my dad turned back around
the corner and looked at me. He didn't speak to me, but just listened in on
whoever he was on the phone with.
"Yeah, I'm sorry to hear," he said to the phone.
The dinner table conversation had ended as everyone's attention was
focused on my dad. I was confused because he never walked back into the
dining room when he's on the phone -- he always stayed in the kitchen.
"He has a friend over for the night," he continued, "so what if Ian
just came over here?"
I immediately perked up. I knew the conversation was about me, and
apparently Ian too now.
"OK -- just come over. It's no problem really." My dad hung up the
phone and returned to the table without saying another word. Everyone was
staring at him expecting to be informed of what was going on. Instead, he
started eating again.
"Thomas? What was that all about?" my mom asked.
"It's Evelyn. She's comin' over with Ian."
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"She'll explain when she gets here," he said.
No more than five minutes went by before the doorbell rang. I could
see it was Ian and his mother from the dinning room table.
"Thanks so much for looking after Ian," she said as soon as my
parents answered the door. "I'm so sorry to bulge on like this, but I have
to get going if I want to catch my flight."
"What's wrong Evelyn?" my mother asked.
"My father was in an accident," she said gloomy. He lives out in
Georgia and the doctors aren't sure if he's going to make it."
"Oh my God -- I'm so sorry," my mother exalted.
"I asked your husband here if you wouldn't mind watching Ian for a
few days."
"Oh goodness it's no problem really."
Ian walked in and put a suitcase on the sofa and sat down. He
looked awkward, like he was annoyed. My parents continued to talk while I
asked Ian if wanted some pizza. He joined at the table in finishing off
the remaining pizza. Ms. Hutchinson was catching a flight in a few hours
and had to leave quickly. I asked Ian about his grandfather but Ian never
knew him. Never once saw him in his life so it was pointless for him to
tag along with his mother. He argued with her prior to coming over.
I felt sorry for Ian, but Ian didn't seem to care about the
situation. Therefore it didn't effect me or our situation any. The
sleepover just turned into a slumber party. I now had two of my best
friends staying the night.
"You can sleep on the hideabed," I said when he asked where he was
going to be sleeping. "It's really not that bad."
I tried to reassure it wasn't all that bad, but Ian was reluctant to
give in.
"I'd just prefer to sleep in my own bed. I don't know why my mom
thinks I need a baby sitter now. I can stay home alone."
"Does it matter? We'll have fun anyways," I said.
Dinner ended, we cleaned up and went back into my room. Ian, Matt
and I enjoyed the TV and listening to the radio most of the night. Around
ten, we went out into the living room to make up Ian's bed for the night.
Ben was already there watching TV since he doesn't have one in his room.
Once done making up the bed, we sat around talking until Matt wanted to
play cards.
"Rummy?" he asked.
I laughed, but held back when I realized neither Ian nor Ben would
get it. Both just looked at me in confusion.
"Forget it. It's nu'in," I remarked.
"I dunno how to play," Ian said.
"We'll teach ya -- don't worry."
I explained the rules to Ian and let him play along with my hand the
first few games so he could understand. Ian being the intelligent one of
the bunch, caught on quickly.
My mom came by a little later and told us not to stay up too late,
as if we understood what `too late' was. She told us they'd be going to
church in the morning and we'd have to be up by six if anyone wanted to go.
We all smirked at each other as if any of us wanted to go.
We finished our game and Benjamin wanted to go to bed so he left.
He was never one for staying up late because my mother always forced him to
bed early on school nights so he's not use to the late hours.
Matt started looking at me while an evil grin. He was obviously
getting horny or something because that's usually what he does when he
grins that way. I smiled back and gave an inner chuckle.
"What?" Ian asked looking between the two of us.
Matt didn't respond.
"I want to tell Ian," I said looking at Matt.
Matt's eyes squinted in question. "Tell him what?"
"You know," I said lifting my eyebrows.
Matt thought for a moment. "I -- do?"
"About us --"
"Oh -- are you sure you want to tell him that? I thought you said
it's best if we didn't tell anyone."
"But Ian's different. He's cool -- he'll understand."
I glanced over at Ian. His face lit up when I said that about him.
"Tell me what?" he jumped in quickly.
"OK -- fine I won't tell him about us," I said. "I'll just tell him
about me."
"But he's not stupid," Matt said, "He'll figured it out easily."
"He'll figure it out easily whether we tell'em or not. Ian's cool
`bout it though. He won't care."
Matt just looked at me. He didn't seem to have an argument to
dispute it. Ian's eyes were on a tennis match -- switching quickly between
me and Matt.
"Listen Matt," I focused, "you know he's smart -- very smart -- too
smart sometimes too. He'll find out soon and I'd --"
"Just tell me already!" Ian exclaimed.
I looked at Matt intently. "Trust me will ya?"
Matt's eyes softened almost immediately. A small smile crept across
his face.
"Ian," I whispered for no real reason, "Matt and I are -- well --
we're boyfriends."
Ian eyes fixated on mine -- then to Matt's.
"You mean you're gay?" Ian asked.
"Yup," Matt said plainly.
Ian looked at me next and I nodded.
"So you're gay, and that rumor last year wasn't really a rumor
then?" eh asked.
"I guess it wasn't. Funny how no one believed it. But Ian, you
have to realize, it's just me and Matt. We're boyfriends. You don't need
to worry 'bout us like -- being creepy or anythin'."
"Wow. I can't believe it really. Are you sure?"
"Sure about what?" I questioned back.
"That you're gay?"
"Of course we're sure," I said.
"Absolutely," Matt replied also.
"Wow," Ian sighed again. "I can't believe you're gay."
"Believe it," I returned. "We're gay and ain't nu'in stoppin' us,"
I chuckled. Matt laughed with me but Ian didn't respond. He had an
awkward emotion looming on the surface that I had a hard time deciphering.
"You're OK with it right Ian?"
"Sure of course I suppose -- it's just weird that's all," Ian
uttered.
"Now -- I told you this because you're a special friend. We'd prefer
if you not tell anyone about this. Is that a problem?"
"No it's not," he replied. "I can keep your secret. If you can
keep my secrets, I can keep yours."
I thought for a moment. "Wait -- what secrets?"
"You know --"
"I don't -- think I do," I confessed.
"Then my secrets are safe with you," he said then broke out in
laughter.
It didn't take long for Ian to get past our confession. Twenty
minutes later he was back to his normal self as if nothing ever happened.
We turned the TV on and watched a late night movie. Ian fell asleep about
half way through the movie. When the movie ended, I slipped his glasses
off and pulled the blanket up over Ian, then Matt and I went to my room.
I saw my parent's door cracked open, but no light illuminating from
within. I closed my bedroom door behind me and turned my lamp on.
"I don't think you'll be needin' this," I said pointing down at the
sleeping arrangements we made for Matt earlier. I looked at Matt and he
grinned back. I whispered, "Take your clothes off and hop in my bed."
Matt didn't hesitate. He took his shirt, shorts and boxers off in a
matter of seconds. He stood in the dim light of my lamp completely naked --
and limp. I stared, admiring his beautiful body. I took my shirt off and
Matt jumped in to help me take the rest of my clothes off.
"Get in," I softly said.
Matt slid in under the covers and held it up for me. I got in next
to him and immediately he pressed his lips against mine. I moaned at the
instant electricity. I felt his hard dick pressing against my stomach and
he slowly started humping me.
Without releasing my intimacy with Matt, I reached over and turned
the lamp off. We were in total darkness but I didn't need any light to see
Matt. I could see him touching me -- feeling me.
I grabbed his dick and he moaned into my mouth as he always does
which drives me even wilder. I stroked his probing dick.
"Get on top of me," I whispered.
Matt slithered upward and was soon on top of me, grinding away. Our
dicks pressed firmly between our bodies. Matt starting bucking more
rapidly and his panting increased. He couldn't keep his lips off mine
through the intense work. Until he lifted his upper body and pushed hard
into me. I reached behind him and cupped both of his soft butt cheeks --
pulling in conjunction with his stride. The bed started squeaking, which
frightened me, but I was in too far to stop. I was on the verge of
shooting and Matt's increased pressure was sending me over the edge. A
warm sensation spread across my stomach. As soon as the smell of Matt's
cum hit my senses, I was pushed over the edge.
"You know your dad's really tryin'. " Mom said bitterly.
"Well -- its hardly showin'." I shot back.
"That's why I'm tryin' get this campin' trip to work," she said.
Three weeks before the end of school, my mother had the brilliant
idea to have a father-son camping trip. She convinced my dad to take me
and go camping with Matt and his father. I think my mother thought camping
would be a good idea since it slipped out that when Matt and I ran off for
that one night, we went out into the woods. She figured it would be good
for our relationships. It seems to me, Mr. Ducker is accepting Matt much
faster than my dad is accepting me.
"It'll just be the four of you. It'll be an excellent bondin'
experience," my mother went on. "I think the more he's around ya'll, the
quicker he'll come to his senses. I know ya'll went on that little campin'
trip when you ran away, so I figured a campin' trip will fit right in."
"But we don't know the first thing 'bout campin' and neither does
Mr. Ducker."
"Ya'll managed by ya'llself so the four of you can manage for a
weekend."
I wasn't necessarily arguing against the trip, but it wasn't
sparking my vivid interest either. Spending time with Matt was never
boring, but I wasn't sure how great this trip was going to be since I knew
Matt and I weren't going to be left alone. It wasn't going to be like our
expedition, it was going to be with adults.
Worst was the thought of a whole weekend without civilization. No
TV, radio, showers, toilets or home cooked meals.
"Hurry up or you'll miss the bus," my mother yelled at me.
"I'm goin' as fast as I can -- gimmie a break. You're the one who's
slowin' me down after all."
"Just go," she finally hollered as I swiftly went out the front
door. The bus ride to school was rather quick. My mind was a numbing
zombie as it usually is. It was racing with ideas and imagination of the
trip my mom just told me about.
I found Matt waiting for me in our meeting location.
"Your parent's tell you yet?" I asked as we made our way to the
secret room.
"Tell me what?" Matt asked back.
"'bout the campin' trip?"
"What camping trip?"
"They haven't told ya yet then."
"Duh -- obviously not. Tell me!"
I closed the door behind us when we entered our secret room. "Our
parents planned a campin' trip for us."
"What?" he remarked.
"It's just gonna be my dad and yours, and us two. Just four of us
-- a whole weekend -- they found some campin' place up north past Huntsville,
my mom said. We're goin' the weekend after schools out. Mom says it'll be
a `good bondin' experience' for us," I said in my best motherly voice."
"That sounds cool!" Matt exclaimed.
"Are ya sure? We won't be alone so we can't -- you know -- do our
thing together. Or we'll have to be extremely quiet."
"I can be quiet," Matt said with a grin.
I went on to further explain everything my mother had told me,
which wasn't much and the warning bell rang before we did anything past
kissing.
The following week, Matt and I went back to the mall with Eddie and
Jeff. Mitch was really sick so hadn't been to school in about a week,
therefore didn't go with us to the mall. The week after that was finals
week. They were rather easy -- or at least they felt easy because I went
through them fast.
Thursday was the last day of school and it was quite a relief. Matt
and I weren't officially freshmen any longer -- we weren't on the bottom of
the sludge pen -- totem pole or pecking order. By the last day of school,
Matt was really excited about the trip. I wasn't sharing the same
enthusiasm because it didn't sound all that appealing to me. I knew it
wasn't going to live up to the one night me and Matt spent out in the woods
together.
I was packing for the trip that night because we were leaving Friday
morning when I heard a grunt at my door. I looked over and saw Ian
standing there.
"What are you doin' here so late?" I inquired.
He didn't reply but only lowered his eyes to the floor.
"What?" I repeated.
Again he didn't respond. I went back to packing some clothes into a
suitcase. I left to bathroom to collect a few things and came back. Ian
was sitting on my bed next to my suitcase.
"What's wrong Ian?"
"I -- can I uhmm --" Ian paused then lowered his eyes back to the
floor.
"Just spit it out already!" I spoke up.
Ian twitched when I raised my voice. I wasn't trying to sound angry
but it came out that way I suppose. I thought I heard Ian sniff or give a
whimper when he stood up to leave. I grabbed his arm -- hard and said,
"We'll talk when I get back -- OK?"
Ian yanked his arm free and left.
I found the encounter very strange -- Ian coming over to my place
very late at night unannounced. He was definitely bothered by something.
He was acting beyond the strangeness I'm use to seeing from Ian. It took
me some time to get over it, but I eventually got my mind off him and
finished packing before going down to sleep.
