kiss. Tina welcomed Winifred soft lips kissing her softly as they caressed
each other. As the kiss ended, Winifred turned Tina onto her back, climbing
on top of her. She lay her head on Tina's chest indicating that she was
ready for sleep. Tina kissed Winifred's head before laying her head back
and closing her own eyes falling asleep as Winifred fell asleep.
The next morning, the all trekked to the stream where Kevin and
Adrian discussed the best way to bring the water to Tina and Winifred's
hut. Tina was a little surprised that Odette wasn't putting her two cents
in; instead she held back and let them talk. Kevin kept walking around and
talking and she was beginning to wonder if they were just going to talk all
day. Tina took it as long as she could, then she walked over to where Kevin
and Adrian were talking.
"So we got a problem?" Tina asked as nicely as she could, not
wanting to show her impatience.
Adrian laughed a little, "No, we were just trying to decide where
the best place to start the piping so that you'll always have water even if
the stream flow lessens during the dry times of the year."
"So did you decide?" Tina asked this time showing her impatience a
little.
Kevin gave her a big smile as he put his arm around her shoulders
giving her a little hug, "Yes, we've decided and are ready to get
started. Now the question is are you ready to start digging a gully to lay
the pipe in?"
"Yep, just show me where to start and I'll get the gully dug." Tina
said excited to finally get started.
"Hey, you know this isn't going to get done in one day, don't you?"
Adrian asked with concern in his voice.
"Sure I know that." Tina said as she did in a way but in another way
she was thinking that they would have water that evening even if that was
unrealistic to think.
"Don't worry honey, you'll have water soon." Kevin said flashing a
big smile at her.
"So let's get going." Tina said as she picked up one of the small
shovels that they had brought along.
Kevin gave her a smile then as Adrian went to get some twine that
they had in their pack of tools that Old Kevin had carried along with all
the piping. Odette brought over some small sticks handing one to Kevin
while holding the rest. Adrian and Kevin then began to lay out the path
that the piping would take. They all slowly made their way through the
forest laying out a straight line from the stream to the hut. As they went
along, Tina began to realize that this would take longer than she
realized. She was seeing just how much pipe that they had brought and now
she was beginning to wonder if they had brought enough. Tina finally had to
ask as she just knew that they didn't have nearly enough pipes and thus
would have to go back and get more. But Kevin just smiled as he told her
that most of the pipe had a smaller diameter pipe inside of it so they
actually had twice the amount of pipe than it appeared.
He told her that the closer to the hut they got, the smaller the
pipe would become to increase the pressure. They finally made their way
back to the hut just when the twine had run out and also the sticks that
Odette was carrying. They walked the line of sticks back with Kevin or
Adrian making some adjustment when they got a little offline. When they got
back to the stream, Adrian showed the four women just how deep to dig the
gully. Winifred went with Yvonne toward the hut and they would work their
way back to the stream. That left Tina and Odette to start at the stream
and work toward Winifred and Yvonne. While they dug, Kevin and Adrian
began to get the pipe out and they laid it along the line leaving the
ladies to dig. The sandy soil made it easy to dig but still it was a job.
Tina started out digging fast and furious wanting to show the men
that they could get this done quicker than they were saying. However soon
her body was soaked in sweat and her shoulders began to ache and burn. When
she finally had to stop, she wiped the sweat from her face and saw that she
hadn't dug anywhere near as far as she felt like she had.
"I don't know what's wrong with me; I'm in great shape, probably the
best in my life." Tina said aloud but more to herself than Odette who had
been standing there watching her.
"Honey, your legs are in the best shape of your life but your arms
and legs you don't use as much when you run." Odette said handing a cup of
cold water to Tina as she took the shovel away from her.
"I guess..." Tina said not really convinced.
"Plus sometimes slower means faster." Odette said as she began to
dig going in deeper and getting more of the sandy soil out of the gully on
each dig of the shovel.
Tina stood there watching Odette work, going slower, but getting
more done as she sang a strange song that made no sense to Tina but was
soothing to her nerves all the same. Odette worked until she had worked up
a real sweat then she stopped to rest a moment. Tina saw that Odette had
indeed gone farther in less time without having to work nearly as
hard. Tina went to get Odette a cup of water and when she returned she
handed it to Odette who thanked her with her smile.
"I think I just got taught another lesson in patience." Tina said
taking the shovel from Odette.
"Yea, you did." Odette said giving her a motherly smile.
"Why is it so hard for me to learn that lesson?" Tina asked.
"Because it goes against your very nature to be patient. You took on
your cancer head on and it served you well but in the rest of life, being
so straight forward doesn't always work." Odette told her.
"Like dealing with Winifred, being so straight forward didn't work
with her, Kimiko taught me that." Tina told her.
"Kimiko is a very smart lady." Odette told her.
"So are you." Tina told her as she began to dig, going slowly like
Odette did when she was doing the digging.
"Thank you." Odette said taking Tina's compliment.
"So how did she tell you that we needed a hand?" Tina asked her.
"She came to me and told me that she knew a couple of sweet girls
that needed us." Odette said.
"She walked all the way to your village?" Tina asked.
"Not exactly..." Odette said.
"How exactly then?" Tina pressed.
"Let's just say that we had a good talk and leave it at that."
Odette told her.
"You know that you're testing my new found patience..." Tina told
her as she straightened up and looked at Odette directly in her eyes.
"Oh I know." Odette said.
"I guess the smart thing to do would be to drop the subject right?"
Tina asked.
"Yea, since I'm not going to tell you any more about it." Odette
told her giving her another smile.
"I would assume that if I asked Kimiko the same question, she would
give me the same answer." Tina asked beginning to enjoy the game they were
playing since she knew she wasn't going to get to know the real answer.
"I think that would be a good assumption." Odette told her.
"Will I ever know?" Tina asked her.
"I think someone close to you will tell you when you are ready and
need to know." Odette told her.
Tina knew she was talking about Winifred and she knew better than to
ask her. She would just have to trust Winifred to let her know when the
time came. "I think I can live with that." Tina said.
"Live with what?" Kevin asked as he came back with Old Henry to get
the rest of the pipe.
"Live with your ugly mug hanging around for a bit after we get done
getting the water to Tina and Winifred." Odette said giving Tina a wink
making Tina laugh.
"I think she is hinting that she wants vacation a while at the
beach." Kevin said with a laugh.
"No I think she just told you that you're vacationing at the beach
for a while." Tina said with a laugh.
Kevin laughed as he said, "Yea I believe that she did."
"We did pass a hut on the way here; do you know whose it is?" Odette
asked.
"It's mine, and you're more than welcome to stay in it as long as
you want." Tina said.
"Don't tell her that, you may never ever get rid of us." Kevin said
laughing again.
"That's fine with us." Tina said meaning it.
"Well we can't stay forever but we can stay awhile, I'm sure that
Adrian and Yvonne would love it too." Kevin said then he and Old Henry went
on their way.
Tina and Odette dug and talked until their stomachs told them that
it was time to go fix something to eat. However when they got back to the
hut, they found that Yvonne and Winifred was a step ahead of them as they
already had lunch ready and Kevin and Adrian was already there. They had a
nice long lunch, talking and resting before heading back to work. Tina had
accepted that their water line wasn't going to be completed in a day so she
had no problem stopping early when the afternoon sun got hot.
When they got back to the hut, Odette and Winifred sent her, Yvonne,
Adrian, and Kevin to the garden to restock their supplies. Tina led the way
to the garden and as they got close, her boar appeared in the pathway.
"Mmmm... bacon and ham..." Kevin said as he eyed the big boar.
"Oh no, you can't hurt him!" Tina said loudly as she turned to face
Kevin and putting her arms out to prevent him from doing anything to her
boar.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize that he was your pet." Kevin said as
she put his arms up showing that he didn't mean any harm.
"He's not my pet; we just have worked out an understanding as to who
owns the path." Tina said and then she went on, "He lets me cross the path
and I give him a couple of ears of corn."
She then turned to the big boar saying, "Now go on, we're NOT going
to bother you."
The boar looked from Tina to the others snorting at them as if
warning them not to hurt Tina then he ambled away, snorting as he went.
They let him go on and they went on down the path with Yvonne
watching him go along. "You know, your pet is a she and she is pregnant."
Yvonne said when she caught back up with them.
"She is?" Tina said as she turned to face Yvonne. "How do you know?"

"She is not my pet, why does everyone call her that?" Tina said with
some frustration.

"Yes she is." Winifred said getting the last word in and Tina just

The new cook stove wasn't cured yet so Winifred cooked their dinner
over the fire. But it was good and filled their empty tummies which was all
that mattered. After dinner, they all went to wash the sweat off their

and talked as they rested. Odette kept the conversation off anything sexual

It was at the end of the third day that Kevin and Adrian put a shut

Tina was beginning to get tired of everyone telling her to have
patience and she let it show. "But there is no water."
"Feel under the spout." Kevin told her so she and Winifred both put

"Yep," Adrian said with a big grin on his face.
Tina knew that they obviously knew something that she and Winifred
didn't. They waited another moment when Tina heard a gurgling and she
looked over at Winifred with a grin on her face. A few seconds later some
very cold water came out spout splashing them both.
"Ohhh..." Tina and Winifred both yelled as they jerked their hands
back as if they were being scalded.
"We got water!" Tina said excitedly as she put her hands back under
the water where she immediately splashed Winifred with some who of course

"Water!" Winifred cried out as she let some filled her cupped hands
then she threw it at Kevin.
"Hey!" Kevin said as he pushed Tina out of the way scooping up water

Odette, Yvonne, and Adrian got into the game letting the water run into
their cupped hands and then flinging it at someone. The game didn't stop
until everyone had been splashed several times.
Tina then started to turn off the water when Adrian stopped
her. "Let it run over night to clean the pipes out and then you can use
it."
"And then let it run some each day keep the water fresh." Kevin told
them.
"Is it safe to drink?" Winifred said now becoming a little worried.
"Very safe, just like drinking right out of the stream but like any
water, it can become stale if it just sits in the pipe for a long period of
time." Odette told them which made sense to Tina.
"Well then let's let the water run. Tina you go catch us a couple of
fish and the rest of you all can get us some water and fresh fruit and
vegetables so Odette and I can fix us a feast to celebrate the completion
of our water project." Winifred declared.
With the orders given, Tina went to get her net as the men and
Yvonne went toward the garden. Winifred and Odette got the fire going in
the new cook place that Kevin and Adrian had made. It was the first time
they got to use it and Winifred was excited as she had told Tina repeatedly
since it had been built. Tina went into the ocean going straight to the
place that she knew she could always find a fish or two. It took her a
little longer than she had hoped but she finally got a couple of big fish
that she brought in and cleaned before turning them over to Odette and
Winifred. She then got some soap and washed off with their new running
water.
Odette had taught Winifred several new dishes including her biscuits
which Winifred fixed as Odette worked on several other dishes for their
feast. Once everything was ready, they all sat down and munched down on
their cerebration of water feast.
After their dinner and after they had rested for a while, they made
their way to the bathing pool to wash. They could have used the running
water but they all enjoyed washing in the pool so that is where they
went. On the way back, they gathered up some wood to build another fire as
they talked. Once the fire was build and they were sitting in their regular
spots, Odette got the conversations going by talking about some of the
places that they had visited since she and Kevin had gotten together and
then Yvonne and Adrian joining them. It was then that Tina learned that
they were actually living on a big island. There were other continents on
the world that they lived that could be gotten to by boat. Tina could see
that Winifred was just as surprised by this as she was. Tina knew that one
day she and Winifred would go to some of the places that Odette and then
Yvonne, Kevin, and Adrian talked about as the conversation went along.
After the sun had set and they were all sitting close to their loved
one, Yvonne said, "You know we never finished the conversation we all
started the other night."
Tina saw that Yvonne was grinning at her and she looked over at
Odette and Kevin who were also looking toward them with grins on their
faces. "What?" Tina asked and she looked at Winifred who she saw was
sensing that whatever Yvonne was talking about it involved them.
"Well we all talked about the first time we made love but we haven't
heard your stories or story." Yvonne said with a big grin.
"We haven't heard Kevin's and Adrian's story, let them go first."
Winifred said quickly and Tina was glad that she did.
"That's true." Kevin said, "My first time was actually with Odette
here."
Odette smiled at him and took his hand. "As you all know, my
condition sort of precluded me being physically able to really make love
even if I could find someone to love me. So when I came here I was excited
about finally being able to do the things that I couldn't before however I

"You saying that I'm older than you?" Odette said giving him the eye
and causing the rest of them to laugh at the hole that he dug for himself.
"Oh no!" Kevin said quickly making everyone laugh harder as she he
