"Hey Sebring!" I heard my captain call out to me. I was walking across the
parking lot to my car.

didn't have anything in common with them anyway. They were always talking

"Be there at about 6 or so. That's when everyone shows up." Stacy said and

this is Kelly Madison." Stacy introduced us as I stuck out my hand.

"Yeah, Kelly moved here about: what three weeks ago?" Stacy looked to Kelly
for confirmation.

"Yes." She dropped my hand. I was a little disappointed. Before I could say
anything else I heard my name being called. I looked over my shoulder to
see that the rest of the team had arrived.

"Well I had better get over there, see ya guys around." I ran off.


After the game I was sitting in the dugout getting my gear together when my
brother Joe came in.

"Alex who's the new girl?"

"Kelly Madison."

"Yeah."

"Do you already have her number?"

"Nah, I don't think that I am her type if she is hanging out with Stacy."

"She was making eyes at you through the whole game."

Saturdays were my day to pamper myself, starting with a pedicure and then
maybe some shopping. I was sitting in the chair letting the warm water
swirl around my feet reading a magazine when I heard a familiar voice. When
I glanced up I saw that Kelly had come in. I noticed that she had a very
dark tan and very nice legs. She must work out I thought. I went back to my
book, I didn't want to get caught staring. She took the chair next to me. I
glanced up again.

"Kelly, right?"

"Yes, and you're Alex. Nice to see you again."

Enforcement?"

"I am an R.N."

you like to get some lunch?"

"There is a great little deli around the corner." Yes, I was going to get

"Great, is it close enough to walk?" She asked.

We found a table and ordered, both of us a salad. We kept up the small talk

"What kinds of crimes to you investigate?"

"I help with all the investigations and when something happens involving
the computer I get to do it all. I had a major of Criminal Justice in
college and a minor in computer information systems."

"That sounds interesting."

"It can be," I said. "What made you decide to move here?"

"My aunt lives here and needs someone to help with the house."

"What do you like to do for fun?"

"Go to clubs, shop, shop and shop. And I like to go for runs. Most of the
time in the mornings before work."

"How far do you run? I run about 5 miles a day."

"Most of the time I go about 3 miles. I haven't been in at least a week."
We fell into silence after our salads were delivered. I was thinking that I
finally meet someone that I have a lot in common with and she is most
likely straight. Just my luck, but at least I made a new friend.

Kelly sat there thinking that she finally met someone that she had a lot in

"Alex, Kelly what a surprise seeing you here," Stacy said as she walked up
to the table.

"Hey Stacy, yeah we caught up at the nail salon, getting pedicures. Alex
has been telling me all about what to do around here," Kelly said.

"Alex, don't you have a girlfriend at home? You should really introduce
Kelly to Joe. He was watching her last night at the game." Stacy suggested.

"Really?" Kelly thought. Then he must have seen me watching his sister

brothers don't interest me, they aren't my type." Both Stacy and I gave her
a look that said that we were surprised. "You guys act like no one has ever
said that before."

"It's not something that is said often," I said. Stacy just walked off
shaking her head. "Stacy has been after Kyle for years."

"What can I say?"

"Has anyone shown you around town," I asked not wanting to go our separate
ways just yet.

"No, I was going to head over to the mall later. I need to start finding my
way around here. A guide would be nice," Kelly hinted.

"Well if you wouldn't mind a tag along I could show you around."

"Thank you. That would be nice, are you sure that you don't have anything
else to do?"

"Nope. Let me take care of the check and we can be off." The waitress had
just come by and laid it down on the table. I reached for it at the same

"Let me get it," she said.

"That's okay, it's my pleasure." I was a little disappointed when she
pulled her hand away. I hoped that it didn't show.

two few feet away. She turned back and said "You coming or what?"

"I sure hope so." I muttered before getting up and throwing some money on

I was standing by my truck getting ready to unload the wave runners when I
heard Kelly calling my name.
