Glad you came into my life.... You were that special one... you make my life complete... Everything happens so fast, we didn't realize that it's almost a year that we are together. No, we didn't have sex; we both feel it was not the right time yet. We're not in a hurry. We are assured that we are the one's that meant for each other. One year, I can't say our relationship is perfect there are minor problems that we encounter but that makes us hold on to one another, that makes our relationship go strong. I knew that Lexi is the one for me that's why I decided to take her to Florida and introduce her to my family I want them to meet the most special person in my life. I plan to give her that trip as a gift and the most memorable one she will remember. "Will you stop walking around!" Lexi urge, "What are you thinking huh? Lately, I notice that you're bothered by something. Any problem?" "What do you think if we take a trip to Florida?" I asked. "Your hometown?" "Yeah, I missed my family and friends." I exclaim. "Wow, that's great! I can't wait to meet your family!" as she stands behind me and gave me a hug. "Thank you!" *** The flight was ahead of the schedule that's why we have to wait for my dad to pick us up. I notice Lexi is nervous she kept on looking at the clock. "Don't worry, they will like you!" I squeezed her hand. A weak smile paints on her face. After a few minutes, I saw my dad standing on the gate. I ran to my dad and give him a hug. "Dad, I missed you!" "Missed you too, Alexandra!" "Anyway, Dad, I want you to meet Lexi Moore." My dad gives her a hug. "Nice to meet you Mr. O'Neal." "So, lets go. Your mom is waiting back home." "OK!" The drive on our way home was full of fun, my Dad is a comedian he knows when to crack up jokes. He knows Lexi was still shy and he wants her to feel at ease. "Hey, they will like you. Don't worry!" I mumbled. As we reach our house, my mother is waiting us at the front door. I hold Lexis' hand as I give my mom a kiss. "Mom, this is Lexi." I said. My mom hugs Lexi and welcomes her to the family. "Get inside and I know you're both too tired of the flight." Mom said. "See, I told you. They like you." as I give her a quick kiss. "Alexandra, take her to your room and get your self ready for dinner." "Well this is my room, nothing change." I said. "Big room ha? And how come you didn't tell me your name is Alexandra. I haven't heard Kathy call you that." "I'll told her I'll kick her butt when she call me that. Alexandra is very long name, that's why I changed it." My mom called out "Dinner's ready." The dinner went fine, we talk about my job and Lexis's family. Everything they want to know about Lexi they talk about it. I think I was left behind. It seems to me that Lexi is their own daughter and not me but it's fine, I'm glad my family likes her. *** "Alexandra, you're still awake?" I raise my head on the table and look who walks in the kitchen room. "Hi, Mom! I can't sleep!" "Something wrong?" she asked. "Mom, what do you think of her?" "Lexi?" "Yeah!" My Mom sits on the chair beside me, "I just met her 2 days ago, but I can say that she loves you very much." "Mom, I love her. I want you and dad to know more about her, the way I know her. You see I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I want her to be my lifetime partner. Will you agree with me on that Mom?" "Alexandra, if she makes you happy and you feel that she's the one then we will support you all the way." "Thanks Mom. Thanks for understanding me. " As I kissed her. "You are always welcome, dear! Now, go to bed. It's late." "Mom, let me show this to you." As I reached a tiny box on my pocket to show it to my Mom. "I want to give this to her tomorrow on our anniversary. You think she likes it?" "This is beautiful! Got a good taste on jewelries. She'll definitely like this. " "Thanks! I love you Mom." "I love you, dear! Goodnight!" as she leaves the room. *** I open the door to see the most precious girl in my life sleeping peacefully. I tiptoed my way to our bed and slowly lay beside her. I kissed her on the forehead to say goodnight when she spoke to me, "Finally, you're here! What took you so long?" "You're still awake?" I asked. "Yeah, I can't sleep without you here." I smile of what she said. "Sorry! You can sleep now." After a few moments Lexi was in dreamland, she's sleeping. I still can't sleep it's almost 3 am. I got up and sit on the end of the bed and stared at her beauty. She slightly opens her eyes and shut it again. "Honey, you're still awake?" she slowly sits up and embraces me. "Lexi, I'm so lucky to have you! You're one of the best things that happen in my life. I can't live without you. I love you very much!" I feel like I'm crying. "Are you ok? Something wrong?" Her sleepy tone voice suddenly changed to a worried one. "I just feel like I need to say those things to you. I love you!" She lay me on the bed and wraps her arms around me. "I love you too." I woke up at 11 in the morning the following day. This is the day I've been waiting for - Our First Year Anniversary. "Happy Anniversary!" I give her a quick kiss on the neck. "Hey, I thought you'll just sleep all day. Happy Anniversary! So what are your plans for today?" "Umm, I'm going somewhere else this afternoon and I'll pick you up at 6:30 p.m. is that Ok?" "And where are you going?" she asked. " I can't tell but I'll be here at 6:30. Sharp! So I'll leave you here and see you tonight." "Ok!" as I give her a quick kiss. "Lexi, what I said last night was true. Remember that Ok? I love you!" "I love you too!" *Why it makes me shiver? * *** "This is going to be a beautiful night." Alex thought. *** Lexi can't decide on what to wear on the special evening so she asks Mrs. O'Neal to help her. "Mrs. O'Neal, do I look good on this dress? Or this?" asked Lexi. "Oh, Lexi you're beautiful in it! Alexandra will definitely fall in love with you more!" "So, this is the one that I'm going to wear. I'll just change Mrs. O'Neal." After a few minutes Lexi emerged from the room. "Let me look at you, Dear. You look great in it." "Thank you!" As she gives Mrs. O'Neal a hug. "Lexi --" "Yes, Mrs. O'Neal?" as she turns back. "Thank you for making my daughter happy. Take good care of my only daughter." "I will. Thank you!" "Let's go to the living room and wait for her! Its 6:30." as my mom led Lexi to the room. *** An hour has passed and no Alex has showed up. Lexi starts to worry she knows that Alex never came late unless something happen. "Honey, she'll be here any minute ok? Maybe she's stuck in traffic." Mrs. O'Neal said. "She never showed up late on our dates, she always call." she frantically said. "Call her up then." "Yeah, I will." As Lexi reached for her cellphone and dialed Alex's number. "Arrggh, it's off. She never turns off her phone. Where is she right now?" an impatient Lexi said. "Sit down, ok? Calm down. You'll see, she'll be here soon." Mrs. O' Neal led her to the couch to calm her down. "What if something went wrong? She never wants me to get worried about her." she told Mrs. O'Neal. She remembers the conversation they had last night. "Nothings going wrong. Stop thinking such things all right?" As Mrs. O'Neal now a little worried about her daughter. The door opened and it was Alex's dad. "You're still here Lexi? Where is Alexandra?" Mr. O'Neal asked and looks at Lexi. "We've been waiting for her for an hour and she's not yet here." Lexi said. "Did you call her?" "Yes, sir! But her phone was off." Around 9:00 the phone rung.... "Maybe it's Alexandra. Let me answer it." As Mr. O'Neal hold the receiver. The next thing they knew is that they are on their way at the hospital. Mrs. O'Neal and Lexi are crying on each other and praying that Alex is fine. "Good evening, I'm Martin O'Neal, you called me up a while ago about your patient Alexandra O'Neal. Can we have her room number please?" "Follow me please. Dr. Wyatt wants to see you first." As the nurse lead them to a room. "Please wait for Dr. Wyatt here." "Thank you!" After a few minutes, "Mr. O'Neal? I'm Dr. Rafael Wyatt and this is Colonel Brandon. Have a seat." "Your daughter sustained a head injury and we found a small blood clot on the lower part of her brain--" all of them gasps of what they just heard. "We don't know yet the damage that it will cause, we have to wait until she wakes up. Other than the head injury there are only minor bruises in her body." "Dr. Wyatt, do you need to perform a surgery?" Mr. O'Neal asked. "As of now, NO. We don't need a surgery. The blood clot is too tiny to be removed. She's in a good condition right now." Everybody in the room was relieved that it doesn't need a surgery yet. "You can see the patient now, I'll leave you here with the colonel." As Dr. Wyatt leaves the room. "I'm Mr. O'Neal and this is my Wife and our daughter's partner Lexi. What happen to our daughter?" "A truck looses its brake and hit your daughter's car. She tried to avoid it but it was too late. The speed of the truck was too fast and no one can avoid the vehicle. The driver was in our custody and the company will shoulder all the expenses, Mr. O'Neal. You have something to ask sir?" "No, we want to see our daughter, and make sure the bastard will go to jail. Colonel, If you'll excuse us, we want to see our daughter. Thank you." Mr. O'Neal said. *** As they enter the room they found a sleeping Alex with a stitches on her left eyebrow. She has some bruises on her arms. Lexi holds Alex hand and cries uncontrollably. She's inconsolable. Mrs. O'Neal sat beside her and cry. Lexi immediately went to the side of Alex and holds her hand. "Why this have to happen? This is supposedly a special night? Why?" As Lexi continue to cry. "Alexandra, Mommy's here! Your dad is also here and Lexi. Please wake up." As Mr. O'Neal embrace his wife and Lexi. "She'll be up soon." Explains Dr. Wyatt. "Arrggghh, my head. It hurts!" I grumble with pain "Mr. O' Neal she's waking-up!" Lexi screamed. "Arrgggh, my head!" I slowly open my eyes and see the people surround me.
