It's been a few months since Simone put a ring on my finger. Tonight we
have a party. A part for two occassions, the main one being my birthday,
and the second one as a goodbye to the current apartment.

The barbie is warming up, and Pa is attempting to cook the meat while we
greet everyone and finish off making salads and so on. Honey's family are
all there, and so are mine, except form my eldest sister, who mind you is
always against anything I do in life.

Our families mingle pretty well, and we aren't too scared of what either
one is going to say to the other. Simone looks so relaxed and happy, and
its a shame that this will be the first and last party that she has ever
had in this apartment.

Daz arrives with a new girl on her arm, as well as Kim and her partner and
a lot of people from my work. Our friendly neighbours are all here as well,
as well as some other people from other buildings around us whom we have
gotten to know over time. It's a great big mix of people.

Before we sent out invitations I asked Simone if there was anyone from work
that she was going to invite. She said she doesnt feel comfortable enough
just yet to invite them all over and introduce me let alone let them know
about her sexuality.

So tonight not everyone is known by Simone, but she seems ok, she doesnt
seem too out of place and Im sure by the time the wine starts to flow that
she will show off that laugh of hers.

The party is flowing, deck chairs are all taken by people sitting and
chatting, couches inside are filled with people while many people are still
standing, not an awkward stand, but a relaxed stand. Quietly music is
playing in the background, and it's at this time where Simone decides to
talk.

She thanks everyone for coming, and starts to talk about the apartment and
our of course our new apartment.

"when I first moved in here, I had boxes that I never unpacked for at least
2 years, I had no couch until a week before Jac moved in and this place was
really dull and boring. But I knew that my life was about to get better. I
bought furniture, I tried to make it look homey, but funky and cool so I
could bring my love home with me."

I look at her, and I start to countdown from 10 very quietly, Josie hears
me and knows why I'm counting, She joins in, 10.9.8.7.6. Simone looks at us
trying not to laugh. 5.4.3.2.1 "BINGO!" Josie and I shout. Simone is
laughing and everyone else is just looking at us wondering why in the hell
its bingo and why Simone has tears rolling down her cheeks.

Soon everyone starts to have a chuckle, because those who know Simone know
that she has a penchant for crying when she talks about something. Simone
continues to talk

"So everyone is here as well for Jacs birthday as well. Today she is
25. Today she is spoilt, Today she will get the best present ever. Its been
hard to organize it, but with the help from her friends and many phone
calls, it has finally arrived."

At this time, the door bell rings. I stand there too scared to answer it. I
dont like surprises that much and opening the door for a surprise is
generally the worst thing ever.

Simone comes over to me, holds my hand and slowly walks to the door with
me, "this is for you sweetie." As she holds my hand on the handle to open
it, I can hear a giggle on the other side. I open it very slowly, and there
standing in the doorway is one of my best friends who lives in England.

"So this must be the party I was sent out here for!" I scream and I
jump. Actually, I dont know who to jump on first, Do I jump on Simone for
doing this, Or do I jump on Billie for being at my front door!

I hug them both and give Simone the biggest kiss on the cheek. While giving
Billie the biggest squeeze while hugging.

"you know the best thing about me being here?"

"I could name a few but go on and tell me"

"I'm here for tonight, and for Simonetmas, and I get to help you move into
your new apartment and spend New Years in Melbourne!"

"Are you serious? This is going to be the best thing ever!"

The party gets into full swing now and we all eat and so on. So much food
and drink is consumed, and its not long before the oldies go home and the
fun really begins, Guitar Hero on the wii comes out for a bit and everyone
gets a go, And then, the special drinks come out. Cocktails, Mocktails for
the kids, Everything.

The party ends around 2am when we say goodbye to Daz and her partner who I
fould out is named Lesha.

Billie is sitting outside finishing her drink so she can go to sleep on the
couch for the night. And Simone has run off to our room. No doubt she is
again up to something. I clean the kitchen up a little bit and get rid of
rubbish around the place. I have a smoke outside while talking to Billie,
And Simone comes outside in her dressing gown and sits with us.

"Sweetie pass me a smoke please"

"But you gave up smoking years ago!"

"I know but I'm so drunk its not funny and I just want a smoke"

I pass her a smoke, but only one. Billie excuses herself to go to bed as
she is tired and a little jetlagged. Simone and I sit outside on the deck
chairs for a little longer and then we decide its time to go to bed.

Once I get into bed, I dont even have time to pull the doona up onto me

"Happy Birthday sweetie. I love you."

"I love you Simone, And thank you for tonight."

I smile and think about how Simone has thought of everything. I've been a
nervous wreck thinking about Simonetmas because it's been our first one
together. I open my present, to find many vouchers for different shops. I
take each one to have a look at which shops, Myers, Jay Jays, JB HI FI and
a few others, And thats when I notice the small box, It's not small enough
to hold a ring, I open it to find a necklace. A silver one, with two little
duck charms on it. I study them carefully, and on the back of one is a C
and on the other is a J.

I kiss her and grab her present from under the bed. Its a big box, She rips
the wrapping off and looks inside to find a little black dress, and a pair
of new shoes, with a necklace and matching earrings. She kisses me thinking
that that is the end, However there is one more present I have for her,
that is a little more fun. She opens the bag which has a mug in it with
some text saying "Love is always around you" And a small photo frame with a
black and white photo of us both in it.

"The mug and frame are for work, so matter what you are doing or where you
are, I'm always around you."

Theres a knock on our bedroom door, "Can I come in yet or are you two still
making love?" Its Billie.

"You can come in but I'm just getting dressed."

"Like I havent seen you getting dressed before" Billie replies as she runs
in with presents.

"Simone, Even though we only met last night, I couldnt not get you some
thing, So I hope you like it."

Simone opens it to find a diamonte gear stick for her car. "I love it! I've
always wanted a gear stick that didnt look bland"

"Jac, I know you didnt get me anything because you didnt know I was coming,
but here, here is something for you."

I open it to find a big foam hand, but not any type, it's the type you can
only find at baseball games in America. "How did you get this?"

"Well when I said I didnt have time to go to a baseball game in America I
did actually have time, So I bought one for you as a surprise."

I've always wanted a foam hand. It's just one of those things.

"Billie, I didnt know you were coming, But I still got you something
because I was going to mail it over, but things have been so hectic that It
wouldnt have gotten to you on time so it was going to be a late present."

I hand her a box that is ready to be posted, she opens it and inside she
finds this kick arse tshirt that she absolutely loves and some music cds of
her favorite singers.

"oh my god! I love it yay"

Simone hands Billie a present as well "I bought something for you because I
didnt know Jac had and I couldnt take her shopping to get you something
without her finding out"

Billie and I both cant wait to see what it is, As she opens it, we both see
that its a special pillow for her when she goes on aeroplanes, and a
voucher for a travel agency in London for a return flight from London to
Melbourne for the next time she wants to come visit.

"Simone what are we doing for lunch since we said we were having our first
Simonetmas at home?"

"Well Billie and I organized it all. We have seafood for the bbq, Salads
and then other little bits and pieces of food. But you cant get angry that
we are going out for dinner tonight."

"Why and with who?" I ask thinking who the bloody hell it could be.

"I didnt want to tell you, But when we invited people to the party last
night, I started to think about why im not telling anyone from work, and I
thought stuff it, I'm proud of who I am, And Im proud of who I love. So
tonight, we are going to a place in the city for Thai food with everyone
from the Uni that I work with, as well as from my old practice. And
tonight, with grace and dignity, Im going to tell them who the real me is."

"oh Simone, are you sure this is what you want?"

"Yes, Im sick of hiding it from them and its the perfect time to tell
them. Soon we are starting a new chapter in our lives and I want to start
it open and free."

the three of us hang out for a bit, eat our lunch and then walk around the
docklands. We decide to go visit family so first we visit Simone' family,
which is huge, but we cant spend too much time with them, then we go to
mine, my eldest sister is there so she will just have to deal with it. And
then, I offer to take Billie to the cemetery to lay some flowers on her
mother and fathers grave as well as her little sisters grave.

Her family were killed in a 4 car pile up on one of the highways many years
ago, It was through tradgedy that we met each other and we agreed to always
be friends and to always be there for each other.

Simone drops us off so we can pay our respects and she returns to her
family for a little bit. Billie and I clean the graves up a bit, and I
leave Billie alone for a bit with them.

After an hour, Billie walks towards me and I hug her. "You know, even
though you are on the other side of the world, I still will be there for
you forever."

"I know, Im glad you are with Simone though, And it is making it easier for
me to decide on wether or not I should just return to melbourne to live. I
went to London to escape this so I didnt have to deal with it, But I think
if I have both you and Simone around then maybe I might be able to deal
with it"

I call Simone and tell her we are ready, and we would start to walk towards
where she is, We get about a quarter of the way when she drives up to us.

"Hey girls"

We drive home none of us really speak on the drive home, Simone and I have
our hands on the others thigh while we drive, and once we get home we all
have showers and get ready to go out.



We arrive at the Thai restaurant and Simone introduces Billie to her work
friends that are already there. More people arrive shortly after and we
introduce them to Billie.

Morgan asks us "So why did we all have to come here tonight Simone?" What
is this announcement you have to make to us?"

"Well since everyone is here i'm just going to tell you all. What I tell
you though, doesnt change how I do my work, or teach or how I will interact
with any of you."

Under the table, I feel her hand on my thigh, I put my hand ontop of hers
to stop her shaking so much, she holds it and I can feel how nervous she
is. I ask her, "Do you want me to tell them?" "No, I need to do this
myself"

"You see, some of you are sitting here thinking Jac is my daughter, Some of
you, think she is my housemate, She is neither, Jac is my partner, Jac is
the one who makes me happy, she is the one whom I love."

The table goes quiet, and I sit there still, I feel all these eyes on me, I
feel Simone sitting there not knowing what to do, Finally, Colin speaks up,
well he laughs and then finally speaks. "Simone you know that we all knew
Jac wasnt your daughter, And we knew she wasnt your housemate. Because we
all know you would never have a housemate. Infact most of us were just
waiting for you to tell us all that you are a lesbian."



Morgan leaves the table and walks around to Simone, giving her a hug and
then giving me a hug, I look at Simone. She pulls a face that explains just
hug her and dont say a word.

We sit around and eat our dinner, we wash it down with a few drinks and
then go home.

When we get home, Billie and I go to the storage cage to get some boxes,
while Simone heads upstairs to unlock the doors.

Once we have the boxes and are heading upstairs, Simone has the door open
for us, I go in and yell out to her, But I dont see her anywhere, I walk
through to our room and head towards the bathroom. I find her on the floor.

"BILLIE COME QUICK" As Billies enters the bathroom Simone comes to. "What
happened she mumbles"

"I dont know, You came up here to unlock and while brought some boxes
upstairs. I couldn't find you so I went looking for you and found you on
the floor. Do you think you fainted?"

"Maybe I dont know, It felt like something hit me"

"Ok stay here honey"

I then whisper something to Billie, She follows me quietly to the bedroom
where I get my baseball bat. I action to her to open the wardrobe door. No
one is there. I tell her to lift the doona so we can see under the bed, and
there I see some fuckhead under the bed. I tell him to get out from under
the bed before I bash the shit through him. Billie is already on the phone
to the police.

Billie locks the doors while I make this little prick of a smart arse kid
get out from under the bed. As soon as he wiggles out, I place my knee on
his neck and tell him if he moves I will kill him.

The police arrive with the paramedics to make sure Simone is ok, Turns out
this kid climbed over from next doors balcony, after he robbed them. The
police take him away after asking If we want charges laid, I reply "Yes,
for breaking and entering, Assult and tresspassing"

The paramedics decide its best for Simone to go to the hospital to make
sure she is ok and wont suffer any bad damage. I kiss her and tell her we
will follow behind in my car. We arrive at the hospital at the same time,
While they take her through, I ring Josie and tell her what happened, she
agrees that she wont tell her parents until after we hear if Simone is ok
or not, but she is coming to the hospital.

The nurse comes out to talk to me "Simone is asking for you, and wont let
us touch her until she speaks to you."

I follow her in to where Simone is, I hold her hand and tell her everything
will be okay and that I love her. The nurse asks her is it is ok that I go
now, she says only to wait for her sister but as soon as she gets here I
must return to her.

I go outside and smoke, while thinking about what happened. Im pissed off
that someone hurt Simone and that someone broke in. Josie comes running up
to me, and I take her inside.

The doctor arrives just after we get back inside and informs us that Simone
is okay and she is just a bit sore. They want to keep her under observation
for the night and I can take her home tomorrow as long as she is okay.

Simone tells me to go home and get some sleep. I tell her I will be back
first thing in the morning to see her. Josie decides to return with me in
the morning so she comes back to the apartment as well.

I ask Billie and Josie who wants to sleep where. Josie said she doesnt care
where she sleeps. Billie sleeps on my side of the bed while I sleep on
Simone' side of the bed. Josie has the couch.

The bed smells like Simone, Not just from the perfume she wears, but her
smell. I cry a little and Billie hugs me, I know she is going to be ok, but
someone hurt her. I cant sleep so I go for a smoke. While sitting on the
blacony, next door comes out onto theirs and asks if they have seen any of
their stuff. I tell them what happened to Simone and they come over. Josie
gets up because she cant sleep either. I ask our neighbours what they are
missing. I look under the bed to see if that little pain in the arse
stashed anything there. Which he did.

I ring the police to let them know we found some stolen stuff from next
door and returned it to them. After an hour, our neighbours leave. Everyone
goes back to bed and I finally get some sleep.

I wake in the morning to the phone ringing. It's Pa "I heard what happened
to Simone, what hospital is she in and can we visit her?"

"Pa, Im about to go in and see her, She might be coming home today, I just
dont know yet. Can I call you once I find out? That way if she isnt coming
home you can visit her while I return home to pack the rest of our stuff
before we have to move in 2 days. Is that ok?"

"yeah that sounds good."

"And Pa, if she comes home, still come over and keep her company while I
finish packing. But I promise I will let you know as soon as I find out."



"Thanks Jac, You know I like you, You take good care of my daughter. For
that, we will always take good care of you."

I hang up the phone, and wake everyone else up. "Get ready, Im leaving as
soon as I get dressed."

Josie is ready as fast as I am, Billie is just brushing her hair.

We decide to take Josie's car because its bigger, and if Simone can come
home then the four of us can fit in it.

We arrive at the hospital. Simone is still sound asleep. I ask the nurses
how she is doing and if she can go home today.

"She can go home as long as she gets rest. That means the only time, and I
mean the only time she can leave the bed is to go to the toilet. She is not
allowed to do any packing."

"I understand, Bed rest only."

I go back in to Simone' room and softly kiss her on the forehead. She wakes
up and grabs my hand. "Can you take me home now please. I cant sleep In
this crap bed."

"I can take you home, but you need to listen to what Im going to say
first."

"ok anything just get me out of here."

"You must only get out of bed at home, to go to the toilet. You are not
allowed to pack. You must stay in bed and rest."

"But then who is going to pack everything!"

"There is Josie, Billie, myself and Ma and Pa" I tell her.

She shrugs to say ok as her mouth is dry, I get her a drink and she tries
to sit up. I help her sit up properly. "stay here while I go get the papers
you need to sign"

I find a nurse and tell her that Simone wants to go home right now. They
get the papers and return to Simone' room. Simone signs everything while
josie and billie go and get the car. I help Simone get dressed. And I hug
her. "You know I was so scared I was going to lose you."

"I know sweetie, Im sorry."

"Hey its not your fault."

I give her a kiss while I help her put on her shoes and then she sits in
the wheelchair.

I push her out to the car and I sit in the back with her. I ring Pa and
tell him we are on our way home. He informs me they will be there soon.

We arrive home, Billie and I help Simone out of the car. Our neighbours see
us and hold open the doors and the lift so Simone can go inside. I thank
them and they continue on their way.

Once upstairs I help Simone into her pyjamas and make her lay in bed. After
15 minutes she whines that she is bored. Hmmm. "Hey Josie, your boot is
pretty big right?"

"yeah it is why?"

"Billie can you stay here with Simone until her parents get here. Call me
once they get here and I will tell you where we are so you can come meet
us."

"ok cool what are you going to do?"

"Its a surprise."

I kiss Simone goodbye and tell her I wont be gone for long. I tell her to
be nice to Billie and dont be too hard on her.

Josie and I speed off to the closest furniture store. We run in and buy a
nice tv stand. Nothing special. Just big enough for a tv. We head off for
JB HIFI and run down the back. "Jac you sure you want to do this?"

"Hey, we need it for the new place anyways."

"True."

I purchase one big plasma tv, 1 hd set top box and some movies for Simone.

We load it into the car, and as we are driving home Billie rings. "Simone'
folks just got here, so where are you?"

"Dont tell Simone, but go downstairs and wait for us. We will need your
help in about 5 minutes."

Once we get back, Billie sees the massive box. "woah, someone is spoilt"

"Yes well someone doesnt like being stuck in bed all day unless she is
getting action"

The look on Josie's face is priceless. "Josie its ok, I was joking!"

"ahaha I was about to say my sister isnt like that you know."

We head upstairs with everything. I build the tv unit where Simone cant see
what it is. I wheel it into her room and put it somewhere where she can see
the tv ok.

We unpack the tv, and the set top box, and I give her the remotes. Simone
tunes the stations herself and then I surprise her with the dvds.

"please come here."

I move closer to her.

She kisses me on the cheek and whispers thank you in my ear.

"Well, I know how much you hate laying in bed when you are awake, And I
figured we needed a bigger tv for our new place. And you did say I could
buy stuff."

Simone settles in for a movie while we all start to pack. Ma packs the
kitchen because its the smallest room with the least amount. I pack our
clothes while making sure I have left enough out to last us for the next
two days.

Josie packs the loungeroom so its just the tv and couch in there. Pa
watches a movie with Simone while we all do the packing. While I remember,
I ring Budget Trucks to hire a 3 tonne truck. I only want to do one run so
I make sure its big enough to take everything.

By the time we finish packing everything, its nearly dinner time. Ma and Pa
offer to go and buy food, So I let them pick what we eat. Josie decides
that after dinner she is going home but will go with ma and pa to get food
first. Billie has gone for a walk to get some fresh air.

While everyone is out, I lay down with Simone and cuddle her. "i love you"
I tell her. "When we move you wont be lifting a finger either. Infact, you
can tell everyone where to put boxes and so on, but none of it is being
unpacked until you are well enough."

"Why do you do that for?"

"Do what?"

"Tell me what I can do and when? Why be so protective?"

"Im just saying because you hurt your head, I dont want anything to
happen. If you want to take the chance of hurting yourself then you can
take it I cant stop you. Just remind me to not look out for you then" I
walk out of the room and sit on the balcony.

Billie returns to find me out there. She comes out to ask whats up. "Simone
snapped at me. She has never done that before." "oh im sure its just
because she hit her head. It will be alright"

Josie Ma and Pa return. Josie comes outside and asks what I did to
Simone. "what do you mean?"

"She is in bed crying"

"I told her she is to take it easy when we move and she snapped at me and
went mad at me for being protective and caring"

"eh she will get over it im sure."

I go in to see Simone. "Honey, Im sorry if I seem protective, but I dont
like to see you hurt, and I dont want to lose you."

"I know And im sorry for snapping at you."

Simone still seems so mopey, and I really dont know what is wrong with
her. "Ok so tell me, what is really wrong with you?"

"From the time you bought me home from the hospital until right now,
everytime you have kissed me, its been gently and softly on the cheek. And
its felt like there is passion in it. I want you to kiss me with passion."

"I've been kissing you softly because I thought if I kissed you too much,
or too hard, that it would hurt you."

I lean over and kiss her, this time showing her that it does have passion
in it. "Is this passionate enough?" I ask. She nods and kisses me. She
wants me. I want her. "You must wait until after dinner and once everyone
has gone home. I will let you get out of bed then. Maybe we can go for a
drive, just the two of us, Im sure Billie wouldnt mind staying here by
herself for a little while."

I help her out of bed and to the dinning room table. She takes her seat at
the top of the table, while I take mine at the other end. Ma and Pa are
sitting on seperate sides with Billie and Josie next to either one of them.

We eat a dinner of chinese take away, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken,
fried rice and mixtures of meats and vegetables. A nice simple dinner where
no one has had to put any effort into it.



Josie, Ma and Pa leave shortly after. I walk outside onto the balcony where
Billie is, I ask her, "Will it be ok if you spent some time here tonight by
yourself? I want to take Simone for a drive because laying in bed is really
shitting her."

"Yeah, thats cool, I thought I might continue to pack everything else that
is still laying around so its all done."

"thanks Bill, you are the best"

"Oh hey, can you do me something?"

"yeah"

"im going to help Simone shower, while doing that, can you go put this bag
in my boot."

"sure, whats in it?"

"Just some food and drinks."

I walk back inside and help Simone up from the couch, "No dont take me back
to bed, I dont want to go back to that bed."

"Honey, Im taking you for a shower so we can go for a drive."

I shower with her, so I can make sure she can stand up. I wash her hair and
then I wash her. I kiss her under the running water. "Lets go for a drive
now my love."

I help her out of the shower and then to our room to get dressed. I softly
dress her as if she is a porcelain doll. I kiss her again, because I can
see in her eyes, she wants it. And I know in my eyes she can see that I
want her.

We decide to take my car because I dont like driving her car. "You know, we
never gave your car a name sweetie" She tells me, "Well, you know what name
I will never forget for a car?"

"no which one?"

"Daisey. The first car I saw you with."

"But you car is purple, how would it work?"

"Look on the back seat, there is a daisey sticker, Im putting it on the
bonnet."

"Oh haha" And then I hear it, that laugh, the one I havent heard for a few
days and have really missed. We pull out of the car park and start driving
north. "Where are we going?" she asks looking around

"Somewhere we havent been since our first night together."

We continue our drive up the freeway, holding hands while we drive. "If you
want to sleep you can, I can wake you when we get there."

"No, I want to stay awake and watch you drive. We havent really gone
anywhere where you have driven"



Before we know it, we have gone past the AGE building, and are now only 5
minutes from the airport. I keep an eye out for any planes so I know which
lookout we should go to, and then I see a plane in the distance land.

This means we can go to the main lookout, which is where I really wanted to
take her. We continue driving, and once we get there I help her out of the
car, Not many people are there tonight, and unbeknown to Simone, the deck
chairs are still in my boot.

I tell her to stay where she is while I get out one deck chair and set it
up on the grass facing away from the airport. I let her sit down while I go
back to the car to get the bag, I return and sit with her, we cuddle on the
chair like we do back home.

I pull out some fresh cold green grapes, I feed them to her and she tries
to suck on my finger, I feed her another grape, this time, I let her suck
