Subject: Alice & Kay Installment 3

The day had finally arrived and Kay's dad was neatly organizing the boxes
that had all of his daughters' belongings in the back of a mini van that he
had rented. He had been dreaming of the moment, he had missed her so much
and after all this time she was going to be his again.

Kay was in the dorm's office turning in her keys and saying a final goodbye
to the ladies that worked there. She hadn't talked to Alice yet but she
knew that Kay was leaving.

Alice was on her way to the dorms in her brand new minicooper, for the last
couple of months she had been living on her own apartment, all of it was
her dad's birthday surprise. She had been thrilled and since the first day
she moved she had adored her place. She had decorated herself with Kay's
help and both had spend every single weekend there together. After all, Kay
had decided to enjoy those months with Alice even if after she left she got
into a depression.

She parked right behind Kay's dad car. He was done and was now leaning
against the trunk of the car smoking a cigarette. When he saw her he smiled
and threw the bud on the floor and stepped on it. Alice turned the ignition
off and got off the car.

"How you doing Mr. Moorish?" she said feeling her heart speeding up a bit.

"Alice!" he approached her grinning and hugging her.

He hadn't really spend time with his daughter-in-law but just the love that
they shared for each other was enough for him to love her too.

Kay was walking towards the parked cars already getting ready for the
painful goodbye.

Alice and her dad were having a conversation, but Kay couldn't hear them,
as soon as they saw her they stopped and looked her way.

Kay kissed her girlfriend in the lips right in front of her dad, she didn't
mind because her dad knew everything about her.

"I have a surprise for you baby" Alice said smiling at Kay.

"Where is it?" Kay asked trying to sound excited.

"I'll be right back." Alice headed back to the car and opened the passenger
door of her cute small car. She took out a big box that had a ribbon tied
around it. It looked heavy so Kay's dad went over to help her.

"Be careful it's fragile" She said placing it on his strong arms.

He felt something moving and immediately imagined what it was. He placed it
gently on the sidewalk and motioned Kay to opened it.

She untied the knot on the ribbon and as soon as she opened the lids a
black tan and white puppy jumped into her arms a licked her face
playfully. She had big floppy ears and loose skin, she was adorable.

"Oh my god babe, it's a basset hound!." Kay exclaimed hugging Alice making
a hot dog with the puppy.

"I'm glad you like her." Alice said petting the doggy.

"What's her name?"

"I don't know, it's your dog, you should name her." Alice said feeling the
minutes go by and dreading the unstoppable.

"I'm going to name her Cookie." Kay said and received a loud bark from the
puppy which she took as an approval.

"Kay I'm going to go start the car we have to get on our way." Kay's dad
said and took the new member of the family with him. She didn't mind she
was so amazed by her surroundings that she didn't even noticed she was
switching arms.

"Alice kissed Kay's dad on the cheek and smiled at him goodbye.

"See you soon Alice." He said and winked.

"Thanks for the puppy Al, I love her." Kay said after her dad closed the
door and the engine revved to life.

Alice could see the sadness in Kay's eyes, she knew she was trying her best
to pretend that everything was ok and that this was only a weekend
away. Reality was that Kay was about to go to a town that was 457 miles
away to become the sheriff of a town at the age of 20. That meant that to
go see her Alice would have to drive for 7.6 hours and that was going 60
miles an hour, which meant she would have to break the law, going 5 miles
over speed limit.

Kay approached Alice that was pacing nervously trying to focus on all the
details that surrounded them.

"You seem uneasy?" Kay tried to calm Alice down.

"I'm just nervous, I'll be fine. It's just hard for me to imagine life
without here in school."

"It's going to be just the same, you'll see, just give it a little time."

"Sometimes when you say those things it sounds like you're not even going
to miss me." Alice was getting a little bothered by Kay's word.

Would she ever acknowledge the fact that it was really going to be a rough
time for both of them.

"I just don't want you to fall apart in front of me right now, we have
spoken about this many times."

"I'm not going to fall apart, jeez Kay!."

"I love you Alice." Kay said and hugged her love tight burying her face
into Alice's loose hair.

Alice held Kay in her arms and allowed a pair tears roll down her pretty
face.

"I adore you Kay, you're my life, my everything baby." Alice was speaking
between sobs.

"I'm going to miss you so so much" Kay backed a little and looked into her
eyes.

She could see right thru them, she could have sworn that she saw Alice's
heart blow into pieces.

"You should get going, your dad is waiting" Alice managed a sad little
smile.

"I wish time would freeze right this moment." Kay was also crying.

Alice took Kay's face in her arms and kissed her sweetly, softly first and
then more passionately.

Kay looked at her girlfriend one more time and walked away as fast as she
could.

Alice stood there long after the mini van turned at the four way stop sign,
crying over Kay her first and biggest love.
