Subject: Nadia and Anna

This is my first time writing a story so any feedback on how to improve or
comments on what you liked would be great. HannahLS01@live.co.uk.

This story is based upon true events but the names have been changed to
keep the privacy of the people involved.



Anna wasn't sure if she'd ever been in love, she thought she had been at
one point but it didn't last. What she felt now, she didn't know if it was
true love or a longing desire to be with that girl, Nadia.

Anna had never met Nadia, they only spoke online over chat rooms, Nadia had
her own life with her girlfriend Lola and Anna had her own life with no
one. But whenever she saw that beautifully tall, blonde, size 8 Nadia on
web cam and spoke to her, it felt like she had someone in her life. Anna
wasn't the most sociable person in the world, she had trouble making
friends outside of the net world, at school she just text people that she
knew online and after school, spoke to them online, she didn't have a
social life. She'd also never had a girlfriend who she'd met in person, no
one she'd ever been able to kiss or hold hands with, but she definitely
wanted one.

Anna would run home from school each day to talk to Nadia for hours on end
and would never get bored of what Nadia told her. Nadia was a good 3 years
older than Anna which put so much fear into her that she'd never have a
chance with Nadia, age gaps can be a problem when you're 13 and 16, it's
not seen as 'right'. However Anna would pray for the day that she would
meet Nadia, fantasise about what would happen, what would be said, if they
would kiss or not.

One day after Anna's strenuous hour run home from school, she flung her bag
down and logged on to talk to Nadia to realise that the letters L, o, l and
a had disappeared from Nadia's screen name, now more than ever was Anna's
chance.

Three years later Anna still had not made her move, she couldn't she was so
scared that Nadia would never accept her, she wasn't the thinnest person on
the planet, she was a social outcast and she had black hair with a
different sense of style. Nadia had moved on from Lola and within the three
years had had a range of girlfriends, ending up with Kristy who wasn't the
nicest girl in the world. In fact, as far as Anna saw it, Kristy didn't
deserve Nadia at all. Anna and Nadia still spoke every day and over the
years they had grown quite close, but only in friendship terms. Anna still
longed for more from Nadia, but she messed up her chance 3 years ago, 2
years ago and last year, it just wasn't meant to happen.

It was fast approaching Anna's 16th birthday and when her mother asked her
what she wanted to do for it she knew straight away what she wanted.

"Can Nadia and Kristy come to see me for the day?" she asked her mother.

"Well, if they make their own way up here I don't see why not, will they be
staying the night?" This thought had never occurred to Anna, they could
stay the night; she could have Nadia sleeping in her bed next to her.

"Erm, I don't know yet, I still need to ask them." Anna definitely seized
the opportunity; she logged straight onto the net and invited Nadia to come
see her for her 16th birthday. -I'll have to ask Kristy if she's free from
work, but if she is then we'll definitely come see you for your birthday-
came the reply from Nadia.

Anna could not believe it, her head was swimming, she could barely breathe,
she was going to meet Nadia for the first time and she would be sleeping
round her house. A few moments later a reply came from Nadia confirming the
date and the two started planning what time they'd arrive and where to
meet. Anna had to take this moment in time to put on a song that she
thought was pretty well suited for the event, Make Damn Sure by Taking Back
Sunday came through her speakers and the lyrics "a long night spent with
your most obvious weakness, you start shaking at the thought" filled her
head. These lyrics would always mean something to her now.

The days flew past till the night before she was going to be meeting Nadia
and tonight, Anna wasn't online, instead she was in her bedroom, painting
nails, experimenting with hair styles, different ways to do her make up,
she wanted to be perfect for when Nadia arrived. In her head she couldn't
really make sense of herself. She knew full well that Nadia was taken, and
that Kristy would be coming with Nadia and sharing her bed but for some
reason she definitely had it in her head that something could happen.

The next day was like a lifetime, Anna had to go to school and try all day
to make sure her hair and make up stayed perfect as Nadia and Kristy were
meeting her from school. Six hours of extreme nerves and excitement didn't
go down too well with Anna and she had to fight being sick and sent home
from illness while trying to concentrate on her work. By the time that last
lesson arrived, Anna could barely sit still and even though she had P.E
which would surely burn off her energy, she really was not going to risk
the hair and make up problems that go with P.E. She snuck into the storage
cupboard at the back of the changing rooms where everyone who didn't want
to do P.E sat and waited for the teachers to leave, then when the coast was
clear, gathered her belongings and left the school grounds early to find
Nadia.

As Anna turned the corner of her gym she noticed two figures stood outside
the secondary school opposite hers, she was almost certain she could make
out Nadia's figure but nerves got the better of her and she stood still and
waited to see if the two figures moved towards her. Eventually Anna's phone
rang and it was Kristy trying to contact her, she answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey Anna, I think we're lost, we're stood outside a school with a massive
tree outside it, but we can't see you. Are we at the right place?"

"Oh, no you're at the secondary school, I'm at the school over the road,
the grammar school."

"Oh, we'll see you in a minute then." Kristy laughed and hung up the phone
and suddenly the two figures started to move and come closer to Anna. Anna
didn't know what to do, she was glued to the spot, she wanted to run up and
hug Nadia as well as run away and hide at the same time. Suddenly she saw
her, Nadia's beautiful long blonde hair and her gorgeous face, which was a
thousand times prettier in real life. Her green eyes sparkled in the
sunlight and the shadows going down her neck made her skin glow in the
afternoon sun. Anna had never seen anyone so beautiful in her life; Nadia
was the definition of perfection.

"Happy Birthday!" Kristy and Nadia shouted, hugging Anna and giving her a
card and balloon. Anna could have stayed in that hug forever, although
there was a third person included, she had the person she wanted in her
arms.

"Thank you." Anna finally managed to say in the quietest squeak.

"How was school?" Kristy laughed, being 20 she didn't have to worry about
school or college anymore, which made her time here more amusing.

"It was ok, I didn't really do much, I'm meant to be in a lesson now though
so lets start walking to mine."

"You're skipping school?" Nadia asked.

"Yeah, I don't like P.E much."

"Fair enough." Nadia laughed. The three girls walked to Anna's house
together, and luckily Kristy broke most of the silence, Anna couldn't think
what to say to Nadia, she'd planned this day for the past 3 years and she
couldn't remember for the life of her how it went in her head. The three
girls got to Anna's house after a long and uncomfortable walk and Kristy
and Nadia were introduced to Anna's mum before making their way upstairs to
Anna's room.

"Oh, Anna, I've made the spare bed up for Nadia and Kristy to sleep in
tonight." Anna's mum called up the stairs. Anna's head began to spin, if
she was ever going to have a chance with Nadia tonight then she couldn't be
sleeping in a separate bed.

"Okay mum, thanks." Anna closed her bedroom door and sat down on her bed
with the two girls. She was trying incredibly hard not to stare at Nadia
while the two girls inspected her room.

"So what are we doing tonight?" Nadia asked curiously. So many thoughts
came into Anna's head, but eventually the appropriate one she chose was
going out somewhere.

"Erm, we could go out to meet some of my friends if you want, none of them
go my school so I don't see them often."

"Yeah that sounds good." Nadia smiled and Anna's heart skipped a beat,
she'd seen Nadia's smile on web cam before but nothing compared to the
smile she was seeing right now in front of her.

"I'll just get changed in the bathroom and then we can go out if you want?"

"Ok." Anna gathered a change of clothes and rushed to her bathroom to get
changed and calm herself down. At least in her bathroom if she blushed no
one could see it and she could splash some water on her face at the same
time, she spent a good ten minutes in the bathroom before leaving, changed
and organized on who she was meeting and where. She entered her room and
packed her bag of her iPod, cigarettes, lighter and purse, all she really
needed for a night out.

"We're going to meet a few of my friends for a bit in the park if that's
ok?"

"Yeah, lets go." Nadia did her all famous smile again and Anna nearly
collapsed in the doorway, her knee's went weak whenever she saw that smile
but she couldn't let Kristy catch on, she could be a nasty piece of work if
she wanted to be.

The three girls walked to the local park and met up with a few of Anna's
friends, everyone was introduced and Nadia and Anna went to sit down for a
cigarette. That was one of the benefits of smoking, it may give you lung
cancer and kill you, but Kristy couldn't be near smoke because of her
asthma, meaning Anna and Nadia could be by themselves together whenever
they needed one.

"So what are we doing when we get back to yours?" asked Nadia.

"Well, we could watch some films or something in bed?"

"That sounds good, what kind of films?"

"I really like horror films, have you seen Cradle of Fear? It's not really
scary and it's a bit cheesy but I like it anyway." Asked Anna a little
embarrassed.

"No, we should watch it when we get in." Nadia smiled. Anna was quiet
pleased with herself that Nadia hadn't laughed at her choice of film and
had agreed to watch it with her. A few hours passed and Anna wasn't
particularly bothered about being outside with her friends, she was trying
to create an impression on Nadia, she was subtly flirting and hugging Nadia
a lot more than Kristy but nothing too serious. Finally when the time came
for Anna to go home, the nerves had come back to her, her plan for Nadia to
sleep in her bed was nearly ruined by her mother, but if she could get
Kristy to fall asleep in her bed while watching the film then Nadia would
have to stay in her bed. Anna wasn't expecting anything, after all, Nadia
was with her girlfriend tonight, she just wanted to be able to lie close to
Nadia and feel her warmth, be able to see her chest rise and fall with her
breathing while she slept, maybe their legs would touch slightly in the
night. These were the thoughts that had filled her head but there was still
that little tiny thought in the back of her mind that maybe something more

The three girls got home and took their dinner that Anna's mother had made
upstairs to eat with the films, Anna started off with a Korean horror, she
knew Kristy hated subtitled films. After they had finished eating, the

got up and changed the film to Cradle of Fear.

"This is the film I was telling you about in the park."

"Yeah, I really like it, although there is a part where Danny Filth eats a
cat, I can't watch that bit." Nadia laughed and moved back up so Anna could
get back into bed. They lay together in bed not touching and barely talking

off and she read the text from one of her friends, she replied to it and
looked back to the TV screen exactly at the point that Danny Filth eats the

Kristy again. Kristy walked out of the station.

"Come on Nadia we need to go get on the train."

"Thanks for letting us stay last night Anna, we'll come see you again
soon." Nadia winked at Anna.

"It's ok, thank you for coming to see me."

"Welcome, anyway we need to go, so we'll see you another time." Anna hugged
Kristy and gave an extra long hug to Nadia and waved them off. She then got
in her mother's car and went home. She sat at home all day waiting for a
text from Nadia, she knew that she should have been home a long time ago
but still she had no text. She lay on her bed where Nadia had slept and
thought about the night before and about how she had heard Nadia's heart
beat. Then suddenly she got a text.

-Hey Anna, I just wanted to ask you, will you go out with me? - Anna didn't
know what to say, what had happened between her and Kristy, she text back
asking.

-I left her, she's moving back home with her parents, I love you and I
always have done-

Anna knew after that day that what she felt for Nadia was true love and a
desire to be with her at the same time and they are together now to this
day.
