My Life as a Tramp
The End

...of course, I didn't, nor ever would have predicted this. I thought that
eventually I would get into my former life, and tell Rachel to change me
back, but I don't think that would be right as she's now engaged to Sean.
After almost seven years, I finally decided to circum to this life. I kept
my promise to my brother, and never let this get in our way, but now I have
no other choice but to break that promise. In five minutes, my dad will
walk threw that door, and tell me its time. Time to stop being a Madison,
and go to being a L'Termay. Today is the day that Aaron, and I finally get
married. It was a rocky road here, specially for me, but we came together,
matter a fact, we stayed together. He kept coming back to visit me. We
went to the prom together. We went to grad school together. Now, we are
making our relationship permanent.

Now, I wear a dress that's long and heavy, and white. It's a pain to move
in, and over sized, but for some reason, I like it.

"Nice." A voice says behind me.

I turn to see where it came from, and find that guy, I guess my guardian
angel.

"You again." I say rather flatly, even though the fear over what's about
to happen still comes out.

"Yeah, well, I figured I show up, you know, send you on your way, and hey,
I dressed for the occasion."

I look him over. He's dressed in a blue disco suite, but that's all that's
changed. He still looks like a drugged up hippy.

"Well, at least you decided to change for once." I say ready to throw up
just by looking at his suite.

"Yeah, well, it was hot in the seventies." He says as he looks his suite
over.

"You know, when this all started, you said everything would be alright.
How is this," I say pointing to myself in the dress, "alright."

He looks at me, hard. My assumption is that he's just playing along with
my question.

"Well, you know what, that dress could use some flower patters to the
mid-section, maybe even a little more cleavage. Other than that, I don't
get it."

"I mean as a girl."

"Yeah, so. You're here, your alive. Matter a fact, in a few minutes you
won't even be single. Well, that could go ether way, but you did
everything you really wanted. You played in a band for a few years, you're
a doctor, heck your even the number one100 meter freestyle, 200 meter
butterfly, 200 meter breaststroke, and individual medley swimmer in the
world."

"Actually, I was second in all those events."

"Oh yeah, the IOC hasn't revoked those awards yet. I guess that's to happen
tomma... well any way, you have a happy life. Your about to get married."

"But I'm a girl."

"So. For the past ten years that hasn't bother you one bit. You know what
I think. I think your just nervous about this whole marriage thing, and
you're using your rather used femininity as a, well, you know."

"I guess, but Aaron and I have been together for years. We've kissed,
we've hung out, we've had fun..."

"But you haven't really been together since that night on the boat. Your
nervous about your, well third first time. Your nervous about being a
mother, and your nervous about living with him practically twenty four
hours a day seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year for
the next eighty, or ninety years."

"You make it sound so wonderful." I say sarcastically.

"You're nervous because you don't know what's going to happen, but that's
the point. You don't know. If I knew that eating that mushroom would kill
me that day, I wouldn't have eaten it."

"I thought you overdosed on LSD?"

"Well, it was a tie actually, but enough about that. The point is, you
never minded before whenever you didn't know what was going to happen. You
didn't mind when you decided to be a girl, when you fought that witch in
college, when you..."

"Okay, okay I get it. It's not the destination, it's the journey. Got
it. Thanks, I guess. You know, in all the years that I've known you, this
is the first time you've actually helped me."

"Yeah, well, was sort of loosing points on it."

Suddenly a knock comes on the door.

"Are you ready sweetie?"

"That's your dad."

"Yeah. I wish he stop calling me sweetie though."

The guy smiles, and then disappears as always.

"One of these days I really got to get his name." I say to myself.
Shaking my head of the situation, I proceed to the door and open it.
There's my dad, standing there, looking as if he's about to come to tears.

"You okay?" I ask him.

"Yeah, fine. Time to go."

He offers his arm in escort, and I gladly accept. We proceed threw the
back of the church, to the front entry. I can hear the music playing on the
organ. I even see Diana start down the aisle with her basket of
flowers. As I make the ninety degree turn towards the main hall of the
church, the music immediately switches from its initial tone, to the old
fashion classic, `here comes the bride'. We somewhat present ourselves at
the back of the church, and wait as everyone stands at attention.

This is the place were I hid that first day from the rain. I guess its
kind of ironic that I'm getting married here. Along both sides of the
aisle, people stand up and line the white, plastic runway down to my
future. As the camera man cycles towards us, we begin are trip down the
aisle with minor hesitation. As I pass down the hall, I see people who I
know, some I don't know, some coworkers, some family. Most don't know what
I've been threw in my life. They don't know that at one point, I belong at
the end of the aisle and not the one taking the walk. But those who do
know, all are here to support me. On my left, which is my side of the
church, I pass Mike. He knows, but much latter on. I then pass a few guys
from the band, and a few girls. Up further is James, and Howard. Yes,
Howard would be one from my high school who was turned into a girl who was
almost killed. Now, he's still a guy, but how he found out is a much
different story, but that would be when I met James. Possibly one of the
most helpful and reliable people I met at college, he'll eventually be my
cousin and sister's boss when his father retires. Right now he's trying to
get our research lab off the ground. A little future down starts the
family. First is Michelle's husband. He's nice, and a good fit for
Michelle. He stands watching me, with their four boys, three of which
Michelle had. Behind them is a few friends that Michelle invited,
apparently friends from California. They made up after our incident in
Ft. Lauderdale. Below them sit a few other cousins and close family
members, even Tim's girlfriend. Then I get to see mom, who looks as if
she's about to flood the church. My attention is suddenly shifter to the
right of the church. There, Mr. and Mrs. L'Termay stand watching, proud
that I am about to be permanently attached to their son. I am glad to see
the two back together though. It took some work, but there all back.

Of course, my attention my swerves up front. On the left stand my girls.
On the furthest outside edge is Marie, another girl I met at college, and
had sort of a thing with for a while. The girl currently huddled below
her, her daughter, is currently my flower girl. Next over is Michelle,
then Rachel, then Kim. Kim is still with her girl friend, but due to
schedule conflicts at work, she's probably just getting into Jacksonville
airspace. She should be at the reception. On the far right stand the ring
barer, a cousin of Aaron's, Stephen, Tim, and Mi'chelle, and then finally,
the one I've come for, Aaron. The second my eyes register him, every last
inhibition that I had goes away. I step up to the front, and say hello to
my future.
