  RATINGS

In order from best to worst I rate stories as follows:

Outstanding
Excellent
Very Good
Good
Grudgingly Good
Not Good

The "Outstanding", "Excellent", "Very Good", and "Good" ratings
indicate, to varying degrees, that I like the story.

The "Grudgingly Good" rating indicates that I think the story is
well written, but that I find some of the elements in the story
so disturbing that if I were to review the story based solely on
my personal tastes I would give it a "Not Good" rating.

The "Not Good" rating indicates that I do not like the story.

Rogue Review No. 202 - September 28, 1998

Scandalous by Bitbard

M/F

Length: 9,600 words

Rating: Outstanding

  SUMMARY

Faith's life is irrevocably changed, after a pornographic novelist
moves to her town.

  COMMENTARY

I like the characters. I like the plot. I like the pacing.

The author has done a marvelous job of writing a story that is about
much more than just sex.

Rogue Review No. 203 - September 29, 1998

Ash by Crimson Dragon

F/F, BDSM

Length: 7,100 words

Rating: Excellent

  SUMMARY

Trish gets the release she needs from letting Ash, her housemate,
tie her up.

  COMMENTARY

I find this story both arousing and touching. I think it is apparent
from the way the author wrote this story that there is more to it than
just sex or bondage. Some people might be squicked. I was not.

Rogue Review No. 204 - October 1, 1998

Farm Help by R. Hawk

M/F, M/F/F, Teen, Pedo, Inc

Length: 20,000 words

Rating: Grudgingly Good

  NOTE

I consider pedophilia to be sex that involves characters under the age
of 15. I realize that sex with 15, 16 or 17-year-olds is still illegal,
but this is where I have decided to draw the line.

  SUMMARY

After his brother-in-law is killed in a tractor accident, Charlie moves
in with his sister and her children and learns what it means to be the
man of the house.

  COMMENTARY

This story is not filled with pedophilia, but its in there. I
would have given this story a different rating, if the author had
not brought Charlie's 12-year-old niece and 7-year-old nephew into
the action.

This is a stroke story. There is not much to the story other than
getting Charlie into bed with his sister, his 16 and 15-year-old
nieces, and eventually his 12-year-old niece.

The author has talent, but reading about adult men having sex with
12-year-old girls makes me kind of queasy.

Rogue Review No. 205 - October 1, 1998

Stretching-Down by Mister Staberinde

M/F

Length: 3,500 words

Rating: Very Good

  SUMMARY

Paul gets caught ogling Emily, his girlfriend's best friend.

  COMMENTARY

This is a stroke story. The author does take the time to set the
scene before starting the action. There is some tension in this
story.

Rogue Review No. 206 - October 1, 1998

Funeral Games by Nick

M/F

Length: 3,200 words

Rating: Very Good

  SUMMARY

At his father's funeral, Brian reflects on who his father was.

  COMMENTARY

This story is different. There is some sex in it, but I did not find
it arousing. I was too taken in by the somber mood.

There is not much of a plot. The story reads more like an accounting
of what happened on the day Brian's father was eulogized. Brian does
go through a transformation. The ending is mysterious.

I like the author's descriptions and the pace, but I am not sure what
the author was trying to do with this story.

Rogue Review No. 207 - October 1, 1998

Treasure Chest by Bernadette

M/F

Length: 1,200 words

Rating: Very Good

  SUMMARY

Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

  COMMENTARY

There is no dialogue.

I like the descriptions.

It is short, sweet, and provocative.

Rogue Review No. 208 - October 2, 1998

The 20th Hole by Motionman

M/F

Length: 6,000 words

Rating: Good

  SUMMARY

Steve puts forth the effort to help Andrea, his neighbor, and gets
rewarded handsomely.

  COMMENTARY

There is some preamble, but the story degenerates into a description
of sex relatively quickly. I found the story arousing, but the plot
goes out the window once the sex begins.

Rogue Review No. 209 - October 3, 1998

The Real World by Hawkeye

M/F

Length: 2,100 words

Rating: Good

  NOTE

This is part six of a seven part series called "Seasons".

Part 1 - Hazy Shade of Winter [Rogue Review No. 73]
Part 2 - Summertime Blues [Rogue Review No. 125]
Part 3 - Season of the Witch [Rogue Review No. 144]
Part 4 - April Showers [Rogue Review No. 162]
Part 5 - The Cruelest Month [Rogue Review No. 187]
Part 6 - The Real World [Rogue Review No. 209]
Part 7 - A Time to Cast Away Stones

  SUMMARY

Sam mopes around after breaking up with Lisa. Once he is done moping
he finds a new girlfriend.

  COMMENTARY

This story is a bit short. The first half focuses on Sam's
self-pity; the second half on Sam and his new flame. I think that
either the story should have been longer or it should have been split
into two stories.

As far as the series goes, I now feel that it should be read as one
story.

Rogue Review No. 210 - October 3, 1998

Bed and Breakfast by Mat Twassel

M/F, Light Bondage

Length: 3,300 words

Rating: Very Good

  SUMMARY

Laura writes Mat a letter, describing what she would like to do to
him.

  COMMENTARY

This story is fun. It is a sweet romantic story with sex and bondage
in it.

Rogue Review No. 211 - October 3, 1998

Summer Rain by Sven the Elder

M/F

Length: 1,800 words

Rating: Good

  SUMMARY

Dancing naked in the rain brings back some memories.

  COMMENTARY

This is more of an interlude than it is a story. It is well written
but I prefer something more developed.

Rogue Review No. 212 - October 4, 1998

Orange County Babylon (Part 2 of 8) by MichaelD38

M/F

Length: 12,400 words

  NOTES

This is my review of the second part of Orange County Babylon.

Part 1 - Rogue Review No. 201
Part 2 - Rogue Review No. 212

Since reviewing the first part I have decided not to rate the
individual parts of this story. I plan on reviewing a part a week,
until I have read the entire story. Once I have read the it all I
will compile all the individual reviews into one big review.

  SUMMARY

Jack learns more about the women he is sleeping with.

  COMMENTARY

I find that not all the sex scenes are as arousing as I had hoped. I
think this is because I empathize with Jack and because he has not
completely accepted his situation by the end of Part Two. He has
changed some. I found the scene at the end of this segment
particularly arousing.
