The "Grudgingly Good" rating indicates that I think the story is well written, but that I find some of the elements in the story so disturbing that if I were to review the story based solely on my personal tastes I would give it a "Not Good" rating. The "Not Good" rating indicates that I do not like the story. ----- Arousal Factor - This is a measurement of how arousing I found a story to be. Story Factor - This is a measurement of how good I found a story to be, devoid of whether there is a lot of sex in it or not. In determining the story factor I take into consideration the plot, the characters, and other more technical aspects, such as spelling and grammar. All future reviews will include Arousal and Story Factors. ***** REVIEWS ----- Rogue Review No. 249 - November 2, 1998 Orange County Babylon (Part 6 of 8) by MichaelD38 M/F, F/F, Teen Length: 8,400 words Rating: - SUMMARY Jack break up with Summer. The football team wins the championship. COMMENTARY Like the previous five parts, this part is well written. Two things do occur to me. One, there is a lot of football in this story. I like football and can appreciate what is being described. I can imagine that someone who does not care for football might skip over some of the lengthy descriptions of games. Two, things have been going just a bit too sweetly, lately. I am waiting for the ball to drop. If it does not I will probably be some what disappointed. COMMENTARY I thought this story was a superhero story; it is not. The author does use a few names from the comic book industry. One thing that bothers me about this story is that there is too much going on behind the scenes. Jackie and Jo just sort of come together. There is not much interaction between them, leading up to the point where the sex begins. What interaction there is does not seem to point towards sexual tension or desire. COMMENTARY This story sizzles. There is sex throughout this story, but the focus is on how Lucy feels, not the sex. The story is also filled with twists and turns. Nothing is certain in Lucy's mind, and at the same time it seems everything is. The author does a wonderful job of maintaining this contradiction. At first he thinks she is a bartender, then he thinks she is a mermaid. COMMENTARY I like the way this story was set up, but after reading it I feel like something was missing. The title refers to a drink, not the mother of Jesus. COMMENTARY I really liked this story. It has a plot. It has well developed characters. Jenna and Kent in the sack and Emily and Kent in the sack, are not the same thing. Read the story and hopefully you will see what I mean. Some readers might be turned off by the small amount of sex in the earlier stages of this story.
