Rogue Review No. 412 - July 16, 1999
TITLE: Sandra Jiminez: ¡Mi Esposa Caliente!
AUTHOR: Losgud
LENGTH: 18,700 words
MAIN CHARACTER: Male
COMBINATION(S): Twosome (Female, Male)
ORIENTATION(S): Heterosexual (Female, Male)
RELATIONSHIP(S): Coworkers
KINK(S): --
SETTING(S): Home
Work
GENRE(S): --
CAUTION(S): --
SUMMARY: Sandra gets the narrator's attention, despite the fact
that she doesn't speak English, while they are both working at a
corn canning plant.
COMMENTARY: I am a bit torn when it comes to this story. On the
one hand, the sex is very hot. On the other, the story, other
than the sex scenes, was a bit hard to follow. Considering that
I have never been in a corn canning factory and know nothing
about the business, I felt left out. It comes down to a matter
of accessibility, and I did not find this story very accessible
for the casual reader who knows little about the sort of
environment that a sizable chunk of this story takes place in.
The fact that I actually finished the story can be accredited to
the fact that I have read most of this author's works and have
enjoyed them all to a greater or lesser degree.

Rogue Review No. 413 - July 17, 1999
TITLE: The Eye of the Beholder
AUTHOR: MichaelD38
LENGTH: 33,000 words
MAIN CHARACTER: Male
COMBINATION(S): Twosome (Female, Male)
ORIENTATION(S): Heterosexual (Female, Male)
RELATIONSHIP(S): Unmarried Couple
KINK(S): BDSM
SETTING(S): Home
GENRE(S): --
CAUTION(S): --
SUMMARY: Danny is working on his masters thesis. He is writing
about the Semiotic Aspects of BDSM Erotica. In the process of
doing some fieldwork he meets Danni. She teaches him about BDSM.
He teaches her about semiotics. Somewhere in between, they get
the hots for each other.
COMMENTARY: This is good. This is very good. This is beyond
very good. This is excellent. Okay, okay, I liked this story, a
lot. It has it all: plot, characters, and hot sex. Need I say
more?
There are a couple things in particular that struck me about this
story. The first is the two plot lines that the author has
running. The first involves Danny and Danni. The second is a
story that Danny is writing for Danni. The author does a nice
job jumping back and forth between the two plot lines. There is
also a certain amount of symmetry between them.
The other thing that struck me, is the fact that both the main
characters essentially have the same name. The first thing that
this brought to my mind is masturbation. The second thing that
occurred to me is a yin and yang type relationship. Is there
anything to either of these ideas? Possibly, but it is also
entirely possible that I'm just blowing smoke up my own ass.
I think that most of you should enjoy this story. Even if you
don't normally care for stories that involve BDSM themes, if you
at least think that you are open to new ideas then I recommend
that you try reading this story.

TITLE: Karen
AUTHOR: E. Z. Riter
LENGTH: 10,400 words
MAIN CHARACTER: Female
COMBINATION(S): Twosome (Female, Male)
ORIENTATION(S): Heterosexual (Female, Male)
RELATIONSHIP(S): Infidelity
KINK(S): Discipline
SETTING(S): Office
GENRE(S): --
CAUTION(S): --
SUMMARY: Karen meets Eric, the man of her dreams. The thing is
that she is already married, has two children, one of whom is
engaged to Eric. He, on the one hand, has no trouble
overlooking the obstacles that their forbidden love
encounters. She, on the other, goes through quite a bit of
internal turmoil.
COMMENTARY: Great Story. Really. Normally I am not big on a
lot of narration; I prefer more dialogue than you'll find in
this story. In this case I am willing to make an exception.
The author has done an excellent job with the narration, using
it to show how torn Karen is between her role as a mother and
wife, and her desire for Eric.
Another thing that this story has going for it, in my book, is
that while the story is overflowing with sexual tension, it is
not overflowing with sex. The author has picked and chosen the
right moments for Karen to abandon herself to her carnal
desires. After all, the story is really about what leads Karen
to give in to Eric and not the sex she has with him. The
latter is just the icing on the cake, while the former is not
only the cake but also the rest of the meal.

TITLE: Coming of Age
AUTHOR: Eighteen and Innocent
LENGTH: 4,800 words
MAIN CHARACTER: Female
COMBINATION(S): Twosome (Female, Male)
ORIENTATION(S): Heterosexual (Female, Male)
RELATIONSHIP(S): Friends
KINK(S): --
SETTING(S): Indoors
Outdoors
GENRE(S): --
CAUTION(S): Early Teen Sex
SUMMARY: A woman reflects on her first love, a man
she has not seen in years and the father of her first
child.
COMMENTARY: I found this story to be both touching
and arousing. The ending is neither happy nor
tragic. On the one hand, the main character looks
back with longing and wishes things could have turned
out differently. On the other hand, she has not
allowed her longing for her first love to paralyze her.
It is worth noting that the main character is rather
young at the time that most of the events take
place. She falls for him before she reaches her
teens. She loses her virginity while she is still in
her early teens and becomes pregnant soon thereafter.
It is also worth noting that there are a number of
run on sentences. Sometimes this makes it a bit hard to
determine what the subject and object are.

Twosome (Female, Male)

CAUTION(S): --
SUMMARY: Marcee remembers how she finally lost it,
her virginity that is.
COMMENTARY: This story is well put together, but it
has a mechanical feel to it. What I mean by that is
that I have no problem with the way the story is set
up, but most of the descriptions seem to be more
graphical than emotional. There are some scenes that
I found arousing, but the story isn't overflowing
with them. There are more scenes that have sex in
them than there are scenes that turned me on.

SUMMARY: A young woman recalls a special night, spent
outdoors, with her boyfriend.
COMMENTARY: This is a very nice story. What makes it
special is the fact that it is written with care. The
characters seem real. The sex is arousing. It isn't
an aggressive story, but I'm at a loss for words as to
how to describe it further.
