  SUMMARY

Gail escapes her loneliness and her aunt with the help of a ghost.

  COMMENTARY

My heart went out to Gail. I felt sad at the beginning when I saw
the predicament she was in. Seeing her get away from her aunt and
start a new life for herself, made me happy.

This story did feel like it was missing something. I would like to
learn more about the ghost. Considering the title and the author's
preface I was expecting much more. The ghost played a key role, but
did not get very much time on stage. From the author's descriptions
it was hard to tell if the ghost was even intelligent enough to know
what it was doing. Gail apparently thought so, but I was not
completely convinced.

I think this story lacked passion, for the most part. I can
understand how someone in Gail's position would not have much hope.
I just feel as though the build up should have been a little more
dramatic. I realize that in life things do not always work out like
that, but after all this is a story. In the final analysis it is not
my story and the author is free to do as he pleases with his
characters, but I was left feeling a little empty.

  JUDGMENT

This is a good story.
