SUMMARY Told in the first person, the narrator remembers how a night with Dawn, his girlfriend, helped him get over a bad week at work. COMMENTARY This story is very arousing, but there is much more to it than just sex. The narrator seems to be going through a bit of a depression when the story begins. He spends a night with Dawn, during which they have sex, but to me that was just the setting. To me, the story is about what brings him out of his funk, which happens to be a night he spends with Dawn. I like both characters. They seem very real. The plot is simple, but it works. It works for me because it feels very real; in particular the emotional roller coaster ride that the narrator experiences during the course of the story. There are a couple other things I like about this story. It has a fair amount of dialogue in it. I like dialogue. The author picked a great name for the narrator's girlfriend, Dawn. Even though it might sound a bit too cute as the title, the phrase "A Night with Dawn" kept running through my head as I read this story.
