Who Am I?

Although I only recently began posting my stories to ASSM, I'm no kid. I am, in fact, a middle-aged, middle-class, Midwestern male of Irish-American heritage. I write as part of my paying work, but only the dry prose of proposals, user manuals and similar inspirational materials. I've long enjoyed reading almost anything and writing fiction with varying degrees of erotic content. I hadn't published any fiction since my college days, but one day I gathered up my courage and wrote to Miss Behavin' to ask if she could recommend someone who might be willing to proofread a new author's work. She asked to see one of my stories and utterly astounded me by volunteering herself as my collaborator, along with David and John, her proofreading and editing team. The initial product of that collaboration was "Ginger", which Miss B selected as her Feature Spotlight story on her own site and which has been very kindly received by both readers and some of the other writers on ASS*. Hard taskmistress that she is, Miss Behavin' also brings out my best and I hope we continue to work together for a long time. Without her creative nudges and David's and John's editorial expertise "Ginger" would have been a much different story, none of it for the better.

Why Do I Do This?

I find writing to be relaxing, allowing me to use my brain in ways totally separated from the requirements of my normal working world. Even the painstaking process of moving from "finished" draft (meaning I've looked it over to be sure my typos aren't too horrible) to final copy ready for posting is enjoyable. It causes me to use intellectual muscles which might otherwise atrophy in the arid environment of the workaday world. As long as people continue to enjoy what I write, I'll keep writing and posting my stories.

Of course I only know if people are enjoying it because I get feedback in the form of e-mail or guest book entries. (*Ahem*, that's a hint.) Like most of the authors out here, that's the only "payment" I receive for my efforts, so your comments are always appreciated. Positive or negative -- tell me what moves you, what you do and don't like about my work. I'll always do my best to respond in a timely manner to all constructive commentary. Simple "you suck" letters go straight to File 13 unless they also say why the sender thinks I suck, in which case they'll get the attention they deserve.

What to Expect from Me

My main goal in writing is to create characters who are believable and put them together, then let them decide what they're going to do. For that reason it's hard to say for sure what kinds of stories I'll turn out in advance. I can tell you what you won't find here: pedophilia, zoophilia/bestiality, stories glorifying rape (either forcible or via "mind control") or the sexual uses of body wastes. I don't write entirely with my gonads *grin* but I will leave topics that actively turn me off to those who can write about them sympathetically. Hopefully most of my characters will retain at least some sense of humor. After all, if sex isn't fun, why bother? I won't try to write stories to order, so please don't ask me to flesh out your private fantasies. Instead, take a swing at writing about them yourself; you might be surprised at how much fun it can be.
