Branstone Academy

A private boarding school for the edification and correction of young ladies and gentlemen

Branstone Hall serves as the boys school and dormitory.
Greystoke House is a separate facility for young ladies.

The story takes place in the English Midlands during the Edwardian period, just prior to WW 1. Mr. Dibble, the founder and Headmaster of both academies, caters to wealthy families who wish to rid themselves of a troublesome child. The offspring are trundled off to Branstone Academy and the guardians wash their hands of all responsibility. Many are bastards, the products of previous marriages, or just an annoyance to the running of an orderly household. These wealthy guardians gladly pay the tuition yet expect no further communication. This arrangement suits Dibble and his hand-picked debauched staff 'to a tee'.
