It doesn't matter that you may have given your life to the society in which you live. Done good works, been employed all your life, or you may have employed others. No matter what good you may have done previously, all that will be gone. Once the witch-hunt starts you too will be branded a pervert. Your freedoms will be abused 'for the good of society'. After all NO-ONE will stand up FOR perverts, not for filth like that. You get the picture.
You are walking down the street, an interviewer and camera stops you. "Sir, we're from XYZ TV. You're on the TV LIVE now!" Beaming smiles from Mr. Haircut. "What do you think of PORNOGRAPHY? Should it be banned? What should WE do with the people who produce, peddle or use this FILTH?" Now last night you were avidly reading Raven Soule's latest 'Karen' story. Do you defend your reading material? Or condemn pornography as roundly as all those around you?
You know as well as I that 'everyone hates pornography'. Now in Attleboro, Massachusetts an SM party, a PRIVATE party, has been raided by the police. It could only happen in the States you may think. But no.
In the UK, a few years ago, another SM party this one involving 3 adult, consenting males was raided by the British police. Though no complaint had been made, by ANYONE, the men were all charged with causing grievous bodily harm. All participants AGREED to the party. They ALL knew what would happen. They ALL took part, and NO-ONE complained. This party was JUST for the benefit of those three men. The 'authorities' took action for the sake of society. Basically the police, the CPS (for once not defending the criminal) and the courts said 'we know better than you', or 'our standards are what YOU should be living to'.
In Germany, they first came for the communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic.
Then they came for me --
and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.
