chronicles: overview

whats going on?

OK ... the Chronicles thing is getting quite long and confusing, so I thought it might be a good idea to precis it. If only to remind myself what's going on. Briefly, then:

Ch1a: An unlikely beginning to an unlikely tale

A less than fully employed freelance something or the other receives a strange e-mail from a corporate type in the States. After a slightly reluctant dialogue they eventually meet. She decides to make him rich. (Well, turning people into pumpkins is difficult) An unlikely attraction develops.

Ch1b: A strictly optional exercise in badly written sex

The author recognises the nature of the site he is posting to and thus the likely interests of the audience. Thus he adds a thousand or so words of embarrassingly awfully written details of carnal doings. The plot, however, remains unscathed.

Ch2: The plot thickens. Credibility is strained.

Returning to safer ground, the author posits the scenario that his half unemployed hero and fantasy woman could wow Corporate Man. Despite having very little sleep. And a bad suit, in his case. Minor sex follows. No, not sex with minors: You're on the wrong bit of the site

Ch3a: More characters appear. The thick plot thickens further.

Dispensing with most of the above - perhaps temporarily - the author moves on. Some potential liaisons are suggested, much musing on things occurs and many, many inaccurate details of corporate life are included.

Ch3b: Yet more characters. Sex occurs, but only by hearsay

Oh, grief. The author actually enjoyed writing this but little happens of a life enhancing nature. Well, Victory is grabbed from the jaws of whatsit and Romance appears to be in the air. What plot there is continues to ... umm ... develop?

Ch4a: The Point of View shifts, temporarily, as the author finally loses control over where this thing is going.

No rain or wind, as it turns out, (yet) but the implausible plot shifts survive. Another new character -or three - is introduced. Recruitment methods in the new firm continue to be some way short of best practice.

Ch4b: Party politics. The original point of view is reinstated

The plot heads down the river (literally) as a few loose ends are tied up, some secrets are revealed and life becomes pleasantly complicated.

Ch5a: A shorter, perhaps darker, piece

Things begin to catch up with Debbie. A battle is won, apparently

Ch5b: Dave ... copes.

The plot moves on as the author tries to be vaguely subtle in setting up actual Exciting Developments ... in the next bits. Sigh.

Ch5c: The Move comes closer. Consolation is sought.

Red herrings appear and disappear, lots of things happen - albeit none of them particularly exciting things - and someone finally has sex. Which is a huge relief to everyone, I'm sure.

Ch5d: Bad things happen. Good things happen

Debbie's crisis continues. Friends help ... in unexpected ways.

Ch5e: Business proceeds, reunions happen

Dave gets back to business, gets back to Debbie. And what is that vicar doing in there anyway?

Ch6a: A couple of new characters are introduced

Someone finally gets recruited appropriately, people are happy ... others maybe less so. Time will tell ... as we move towards the finale ...

Ch6b: Debbie goes to Cumbria

The plot veers off in yet another new direction ... people have sex, with commentary ...

Ch6c: Dave decides not to walk away

Back in London, the team pulls together in the face of adversity ... and find some diversionary activities. Gareth the lawyer starts to earn his crust ... even before he gets paid it ...

Ch6d: Debbie carries on developing ... things

People discover things about each other and about other things ... such as insects. Refreshments are taken, relaxation enjoyed and work done ... from time to time.

Ch6e: A double header in Cumbria and London

More corporate shenanigans, some personal difficulties ... and a bad man and a good woman. Oh, and idea to save the world ...

Ch6f: More inter-related developments

Friendship, revolution and the nature of contracts. Amongst other things.

Ch7: Naz and Seff get to Germany

Trains, ships and definitely no planes. Relationships explored and some sex. Albeit right at the end and not all that graphic

Ch8a: Debbie gets devious ... ?

In which the plot, to return to an earlier theme, doesn't so much thicken as ... well, congeal ...

Ch8b: Dave recovers ... ?

Our hero gets patched up, physically ... and possibly blows it a bit, every other way?

Ch8c: Debbie at sea

Our heroine (for such she is, by now) finds herself at a bit of a loss - or maybe with too many loose ends. (The author sympathises ...)

Ch9: Wrapping things up

Good things happen to those who wait. Such as this finally coming to some sort of conclusion ....
